Post hiatus stuff is worth checking out. Agree that the stuff after Big Cypress but before the hiatus is pretty uninspired, but they really tightened up.

All these sources in consensus that Utah will match makes me think they won't match

I think it would be dumb for the Jazz to match given the state of their franchise, they won't be able to trade for him. Y'all are done with the rebuild, he would work well with MKG on the wing, you just need a stretch 4.

It was never happening. The sooner we accept that the better.

I agree. We are in a position right now where a slight overpay for him isn't necessarily bad. We need a player like Hayward to take the next step towards competing and Hayward is a perfect fit. Utah is going to be bad regardless and overpaying Hayward isn't going to help matters. I think both sides would benefit the most if Hayward ends up here, but I'd say the chances of that are almost non-existent.

They will match. The luxury tax threshold will be like 80 million in 2017/2018. Hayward and Favors only would make up 29 of that. Exum will still be on his rookie deal that year. There is also the stretch provision under the new CBA the Jazz can use in that last year if the contract interferes with things.

I think Michael Kidd Gilchrist and a future first would be enough to let him walk. But more than likely Jordan will just take the money and give it to Lance. He might not be available in 4 days though.

I agree that it would be dumb for them to match, but it was dumb that we even offered it in the first place.

Hopefully Zeller or Vonleh can play that stretch four role for us going forward.

It's only dumb because we are handcuffed for 3 days. You're not going to acquire someone like Hayward as a RFA without overpaying.

The Jazz have no leverage to S&T.

MKG+first is worth more than him regardless.

Match it or let him go are the two options for the Jazz FO.

We'll if they match we would be eternally grateful if they did it at 12:02. Obviously they won't because we jammed them up

At 15M, Hayward better average over 20 pts next year whether it's with us or the Jazz. Rudy Gay better than Hayward and everybody treat him like a peon.

Its not when Hayward signs its when Utah receives the paperwork. No telling when that is. Sometime tomorrow I guess.

Yeah I know that I just meant ASAP. We don't have to send it by carrier pigeon though it shouldn't take too long. Tomorrow morning at worst

Chonet knows all. We won't be like the Rockets peaking around corners looking for the Knicks head honchos. I'm sure the Jazz FO is being tracked as we speak somewhere In Vegas.

At 9pm pst no one is sleeping in Vegas, they'll have that contract soon enough.

You knew they would wait the 72 hour period. They have no reason not to.
