Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
Hield and Rozier stat wise are quite similar, although Hield is almost 2 years older.

Yeah because him and Pacers can't come together on a contract extension. He is in last year of his deal at 18.5 million, but his 4 year deal was 4/94 or 23.5 million annually.
He is probably wanting a deal worth 100 million+ so Pacers are open to moving him instead of losing him for nothing.

Most of you don't even like having one Terry Rozier. What happens when we have 1.9 Terry Roziers making a combined $55-60M a year, with like 5 worse versions of them behind them, none of whom can play another position?
There are other teams already rumored to be interested in giving up firsts for him, he is 23 yrs old and has back to back 20 ppg seasons. You feel like we are drafting a better player than that in 2025?
Rozier is 6 years older than Herro, trying to make it seem like they are same player is wild to me.
At a certain point you have to take the value and try Herro. If it doesn't work you can always move him later. I am not saying give up the world for him, but based on reading the comments he is very underrated.

age has absolutely nothing to do with it. If we were offered a straight swap, yes you do that for the upside play. Tyler Herro being younger, however, does not mean he's a better player, and that they wouldn't be INSANELY redundant if we were unable to get value back in a Rozier trade and had to keep him.
Keep in mind a Herro->3rd team trade needs to net something that *Portland* would want as part of a Lillard trade. Why would a 29-year-old Rozier be of interest to them moreso than Herro? We'd have to give up assets that we shouldn't be willing to give.
Any 1st we give will be 2026 or 2027. I don't have a lot of faith in the team right now, putting a quality product on the court by then if Bridges bolts as a UFA next year. I would avoid trading 1sts unless it's someone significantly better/a better fit, than Herro.

Even though I'd take Herro over Rozier & Gordon (one for size and other for age) trading for him doesn't make a whole lot of sense. We have several SG's and Miller is a SF long term. Herro, ideally, is a high end 6th man like he is for Miami.
Melo
Martin (or another defender) - Herro
Miller
Miles
Williams
Damnit, couldn't keep from thinking, here's hoping Mitch stocking up on combo guards isn't saying anything about the real state of Cody's health.

Scared money don't make money, unless that pick ends up top 5 Herro probably ends up being the better player in a vacuum.
We clearly need to add talent to the roster. Nobody thinks we are a playoff lock or have any real chance of winning anything, turning our nose up to a 23 year 20 ppg player doesn't seem a bit our **** don't stink to you?
We have no glaring obvious position to add. Ball plays point, Miller plays 3, PJ and Miles play forward, Mark plays center.
Beggers can't be choosey, Herro would make this team significantly better whether you want to believe it or not. Basically nobody wants to trade for anyone at a realistic price or they want an allstar 2 way guard to fall into our lap that fits perfectly with LaMelo.

I would not want Buddy Hield for Terry but I would absolutely take Herro over Terry.

I would also trade Hayward for Cam Johnson under trades that are obvious for 500 Alex.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
Honestly I would probably get involved in the Heat deal and try to send out Hayward and picks for Herro.
Then, I would flip Rozier for Mike Conley. Twolves are over the cap and probably would prefer to extend the asset of Conley to Rozier. Similar how they did with DLo and Conley. Saves us money longterm after eating Herro contract.
New lineup.
Ball- Conley
Herro-
Miller- Martin
Miles- PJ
Mark- Nick

Not sure if you've been reading the boards closely, but I wouldn't say that's as obvious to most here as you'd like.

I like this a lot more with the follow up trade. Sounds realistic, as much as I'd hate to help Miami get Dame. Someone will help them and if that's happening anyway, we may as well improve off of it if we can.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
It seems like our interest in Herro is real:
I wonder what we're offering. Hayward and a first would probably get it done if we really want him. I don't think Kai, Bouknight, McGowens, NSJ, etc. have a lot of value.
If Portland ultimately does business with Miami, the Jazz — as well as the Bulls, Hornets and Nets — are considered a team interested in landing Tyler Herro from the Heat, sources said.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
We haven't made a big trade in 15 years, and 1 big trade in 23 years, so forgive me if I don't get my hopes up for anything. This front office in particular seems too weak and too hesitant to make any sort of big move for fear of failure

Unless the new owners want to make a splash. After all, we need a herro to save us now.

I'm pretty sure we won't make a move fir Herro, but if we do I would be lit like it's Christmas. The hornets could really use a player like him between Ball and Miller.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
Like we need another tweener guard that doesn't play defence.
We may as well see if we can pick Jordan Poole up for free lol
