I for one am glad that Lance isn't as hungry as Big Al. Al needs those calories to climb out of his big bed every morning.

Re: I Blew It - The Lance Stephenson Thread II
At some point self-interest has to kick in for Lance. If he plays at this rate to finish the season and we get stuck with him through next season and he doesn't improve, he can look forward to all low ball offers in his free agency. He'll be a 26 year old that has proven nothing except bringing distractions and frustration. He has millions of dollars at stake.
Cho could not have structured that contract better to incentive Lance to not screw it up. Long enough to not be viewed as an aberration if he's terrible, short enough to really benefit and cash in if he's productive.

Eh, nothing new
"Point guard Norris Cole (Miami Heat), shooting guard Lance Stephenson (Charlotte Hornets) and power forward Taj Gibson (Chicago Bulls) are three more players making the rounds on the NBA trade-rumor mill. The Milwaukee Bucks are said to have a strong interest in Gibson, and some interest in Cole."

Can you imagine waiving him in his first year? Wow.

Is he speaking about something he's heard from our front office or is he just saying that we could simply waive him if push came to shove?

Probably saying we could and would waive him if push came to shove. I've mentioned that on here a couple times. I think its entirely possible we buy him out.

I'm sure he's observing that they could pull a Josh Smith. There's no way he knows what Cho is thinking.

I really hope we don't have to do that. It would not be fun having his $9 million cap hit next season with nothing to show for it. We better damn well hope Henderson opts in if we go that route.

Re: I Blew It - The Lance Stephenson Thread II
If we cut him we'd use the stretch provision and take the $18m hit over 5 years instead of 2, so $3.6m per year. Highly doubt we'd do that though.

Well if we thought trading him was difficult before, good luck now that we've aannounced we are considering cutting him. No reason for anybody to trade for him now.

We didn't. And part of the attraction of the trade is you get to dump salary in exchange for taking him on.

Throw enough stuff out there and eventually you have to get something right.

Re: I Blew It - The Lance Stephenson Thread II
I think that it's far more likely that the Hornets waive Lance over the summer if they do go that way. Stretching 9 mil over 5 years at that point isn't a big deal cap wise. It also gives them time to see what happens with Al, Hendo, and others in terms of opting out ... and time to see if Lance can turn it around.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

That's crazy talk. 100% crazy talk. That would be the stupidest thing this franchise has ever done, with an honorable mention for trading a 1st for Tyrus Thomas and then signing him to 5/40. I fully guarantee that if we waived him he'd go and revert back to Indiana form. What's the point in not letting him play out his contract? I don't believe this garbage.
