On the realgm wiretap, Next year we should be nasty! Also means we won't have to break the bank resigning Felton and Tyrus.

Based on Felts already rejecting last years offer I have serious doubts about the bank not having to be broken to retain him.

NO S! He was offered a contract that was at market value or above and he rejected it to play on a one year deal. That does not seem as if he wants to stay.

He might want to stay, but he wants to stay and have a premium free agent deal. That is not much of a desire to stay, that is a desire to have your cake and eat it too.

NBA players can say what they want. What's not reported is that they want to play here (and get paid the most possible). I don't care who you are, you're stupid to give up millions just because of location.

Question : what is the situation concerning the point guard position as far as free agent ?
Is there anyone that could be interesting for us ?

I mean Ray is a good player especially with his D and he can be a force on offense (when he's on), but he's not a great playmaker and his "I wanna be the Hero" mode gets on my nerves.

I would prefer to have a Kirk Hinrich type instead. Steady, good shooter, good D who knows his place.

Kirk Hinrich running a team at PG means permanent mediocrity. You're nuts. Felton is the best choice at PG we have this summer unless someone trades us a better PG for some reason. We just have to hold out for when the Hornets get rid of Chris Paul, lol.

I think Kirk Hinrich could be a solid starter on a team like that doesn't require too much creativity from its point guard spot. A bit like San Antonio when Avery Johnson was there, know your role, play tough defence and hit your shots.

I wouldn't mind him as a back up guard except for the fact that he is on starters money.

Would love to see Hinrich doing LB's mandatory spin move.

We've been thru this before folks. All things being equal with the contract, i don't think there is any doubt that Felts wants to stay. The fact he took the QO does not mean he doesn't want to be here, it means he wants to see what he's worth on the market. You can't say definitively that our offer was market because 1) we don't know for sure what it was and 2) there was no market, he was a RFA so I'd argue the market value was the QO. A desire to get the best contract available is independent of everything else. There may be a concept of a hometown discount (see Brady, Tom) but that is rare and its not going to be a material amount.

I think the point of TC's comment is not whether he gets his $13m next year. Everyone knows he will exercise his player option. But he may want to stay in Charlotte where things are headed up versus being traded to another team for cap relief.

Normally, I would say Felton has leverage this offseason. Several teams have alot of cap space and a few at least will be left out in the cold by the big names and will look to make something positive happen with their cap space. Also, the Bobcats do not appear to have many good alternatives if we do not resign Felton. However, this is potentially the last offseason under the current CBA and by all accounts the owners are looking to get a better deal going forward. Teams may not have much interest in signing borderline talents like Felton to pricey long-term contracts that would be very outsized under the new CBA.

i have also noticed that top of the key spin move in many games, im suprised no one has brought it up yet. my guess is that it is a sneaky way to set up a play. i have tried to watch the players rotations after the spin a few times but i haven't really noticed any pattern as of yet.

Awful news-Im livid

Post#18 » by Dexmor » Mon Apr 5, 2010 6:43 pm

The Bobcats are said to prefer tendering Tyrus Thomas to retain him for about $6 million.

Owner Michael Jordan said he won't pay the luxury tax now, the talk is they won't re-sign point guard Raymond Felton with D.J. Augustin in the wings. Felton might draw interest from a team with cap money like the Knicks.

Where this information comes? Don't know.

1) Yes, TT is higher priority than Felton.
2) To retain TT, we need to dump some salary, even if we doesn't resign Felton, we are over the tax.
3) Getting TT means we need to give him playing time. Does Nazr or Diaw will be moved out? As TT can play both, or can play PF when Diaw is on C.

Were gonna make the playoffs this year and then be in the lotto unless D.J. lives up to that 1st year 9th pick potential and becomes a 16 7 breakout star mip candidate. Is that what they are banking on?
