2009/2010 NBA Executive of the Year Award - Rod Higgins?

There is a bit of talk about LB and the coach of the year award (not that he has a chance with Brooks having a sensational year with the Thunder) but how about Higgins as the executive of the year?

Sure Larry tells him what he wants, but it's been up to Higgins to make these things happen. To contact the other teams, broker the trades and build the roster for LB to work with.

With the turn over of the roster over the past 12 months and our 1st ever journey into the post season Higgins would HAVE to be a serious consideration.

Who else would beat him out?

I made this same post on espn.com.

You are right. The Thunder gm and Kevin Pritchard may be the best but this year it should go to Rod.

His only mistakes were the draft picks with so many steals. His positives are a long list

Tyson for Mek we won
Jackson for Vlade we turned around the franchise
Tyrus Thomas for Flip we just got our future pf for the next 10 years for a guy we picked up last minute
getting Murray in the first place
getting Graham
getting Theo
getting Larry Hughes

This was done on the fly all within 1 year. If he would have drafted one of the good ones like Collison-Lawson-Gibson-Thorton and then Chase in the 2nd round there wouldn't even be a question who the gm of the year was

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hammond Named Executive Of Year
Milwaukee Bucks general manager John Hammond has been named the recipient of the 2009-10 NBA Executive of the Year award, the NBA announced Saturday.

Milwaukee totaled 46 wins in 2009-10, a 12-game improvement from last season, and earned the franchise's first playoff berth since 2005-06.

Hammond's decision to select Brandon Jennings with the 10th overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft paid immediate dividends, as the guard earned a starting spot in training camp and went on to average 15.5 points during his rookie campaign.

Hammond received 12 of a possible 30 votes from a panel of his fellow team executives throughout the NBA.

Oklahoma City's Sam Presti finished second with nine votes and Cleveland's Danny Ferry finished third with two votes. Charlotte's Rod Higgins, Dallas' Mark Cuban, Memphis' Chris Wallace, New Orleans' Jeff Bower, Portland's Kevin Pritchard, Sacramento's Geoff Petrie and Utah's Kevin O'Connor each received one vote.

That was an obvious lucky deal, he had no way in knowing Salmons would have that type of impact, regarldess of that, the Bucks don't have much talent, if anyone deserves an award its Skiles for pushing that team above and beyond its talent level, not Hammond for putting such a lack luster group of players together.
