Playoffs Round #1: Bobcats Vs Magic Discussion

Post#1 » by Stun704 » Mon Apr 12, 2010 4:16 am

Seems we are locked in position to face almost every bobcat fan boogyman, the magic in a 7 game series, what are some strategies we can use to pull the biggest upset of the new decade?

20% chance of winning the series. how does that sound?

we steal a game in orlando due to some iffy calls and howard getting in foul trouble
we get hot one game in charlotte with jax and dj hitting many 3s
they go ice cold one game in charlotte similar to the last game we played vs them
comes down to game 7 and we play defense for 48 mins like we are playing the lakers x10 and win in OT

The Magic have so many weapons, BUT if Jack's shot is falling we have a decent chance. I am sure Dwight will play more intensely in the playoffs, but I would rather Orlando slow down their offense and get him involved then shoot lights out from behind the arc.

Wallace needs to drive to the basket every chance he gets and Boris needs to play with confidence. If these things happen we can win.

I can see this happening, if we can beat them without Gerald, anything is a possiblity

What i see is needed for us to beat orlando

1) Steal one in orlando
2) Don't lose at home
3)our defensive needs to play like its the best in the league
4) No injuries
5) Contain their shooters
6) Get howard in foul trouble

One thing we have going for us is stern isn't trying to push for a Magic LA rematch, so possibly if Magic can knocked out in the earlier rounds, I think Stern would be pleased.

I like our chances more if Raymond plays well both offensively and defensively. If he does, we will have a chance to win the series. If he plays like crap, we're dead since I highly doubt DJ will be the answer.

i have to disagree about stern wanting a rematch of orlando vs lakers.

stern wants a kobe vs lebron finals. thats epic bird vs magic type stuff. howard is nowhere near the ratings machine of lebron. if he cant get that, he would want another lakers vs celtics series, which is always ratings gold.

last thing stern wants is something like hawks vs nuggets or basically any series that does not have at least one of kobe or lebron.

I agree with you, I think you misunderstood my post(if your post was directed to me) I think Stern would actually like the bobcats beating the magic because A) it would increase a younger franchise notiery which will inturn = more money and B) Lebronzes chance to be in the finals goes up

i dont think we have a chance in hell...we have been poor defending against 3s and thats what the magic do well...best we can hope for is that nelson, vince and lewis play awful.....but thats why we play the game

I think it's 2 wins at best. Magic is still a contender and it's hard to knock them off.
Howard in foul trouble? Gortat? He is fitting just fine.

I better hope for shooters bad day, but they got so many.
Okay. Lewis can brick anyday, so can do Carter. Nelson is somewhat a more consistent one, but it's not really notable.

There are chances when the ball is thrown into air, but chances are slim. But still, it's basketball and we got decent group together.

I think key is TT, to get him back and healthy. He gives so much defense and rebounding and as we know, Orlando likes to shoot, so there are always potential rebounds in air.

Should Theo be the starting center for the playoffs?

i honestly think we wont win either. it was probably better that we played without wallace in our sole win of the season. if you look closely at the stats, wallace had been struggling MIGHTILY averaging like 13 points on some low 40% or high 30% shooting if I remember correctly. He just could not score with someone like dwight howard patrolling the paint.

not to mention we absolutely suck against 3pt shooting teams (a good reason why we lost to the knicks earlier in the season). we have some of the best rotations for teams that attack the paint, but our strategy forces teams to jack up 3's...and if they can hit them, then we are screwed.

prediction 4-1

Keep hope alive, They only blew us out once this season and that was before we had Captain Jax, they beat us once by 6, took them to OT, and then finally beat them without our best player, we have a slight chance, and need luck but its possible, Hopefully they sleep the first game and we can steal that one

One more tech and Howard sits on game, yes?

Would he have to sit in the next game, or can he appeal and basically take it whenever he wants a la MLB?

If he does have to sit the next game for that one more tech, I would use all 18 fouls TC, Nazr and Theo have and then have SJax talk mad Sh*t the whole game in hopes he freaks--he does have a temper.

He sits in a game at Orlando and we hold at home..35% chance of winning the series.

I think that we can beat them.

I've liked our rotations on the defensive end a lot more of late getting out to the 3 ball and not leaving an open man. I'm still worried that LB is more than happy to allow teams to beat us with the long ball though - which obviously plays to the Magic's strength.

But really, it only takes Carter and Lewis to go through an extended shooting funk and Howard to challenge Gana as the worlds worst free throw shooter for things to fall in our favor.

I agree with nazsquad. Crash has to continually attack the rim, look to score and get guys like Lewis and Howard in foul trouble as early as possible. The counter moves on the drive he has been showing of late will stand him in really good stead heading into the post season.

In saying all that, they are the #2 team in the East for a reason - and we suck nuts on the road!

BTW - when would game #1 be? How soon after Wednesday's last regular season game?

The playoffs usually start with four games on Saturday and four on Sunday.

Just FYI, D12's techs will reset once the playoffs start. He would then have to get 7 techs to grant a suspension.
Good luck to you guys! Should be a fun series!
