I just saw it on the trans. page and feel like it's interesting,Jose has been constantly at the top of the league in terms of shooting efficiency and A/T ratio, two things killed us against Magic. His defense is non-existent,but who knows if the word 'PG defense' still exists nowadays.

you guys do not wanna do this. look at the numbers from a few years ago when we played them in the PO's (keep in mind this is when jose was considered a top PG in the east, the next nash if you will)
jameer: 17.2 ppg, 4.8 apg, 51.9% FG, 50% 3PTFG
caldey: 11.8 ppg, 7 apg, 44% FG, 47.6 % 3PTFG
consider that jameer averaged just over 10 per game for the season that year and right around the same assists as in the playoffs. then consider that many raptors fans thought calderon deserved an all star bid that year. calderson has not been the same since. what teams do not realize against the magic is that yes we have dwight, vince, and rashard, but when jameers game is on, it is not possible to beat us in a 7 game series (as you have watched first hand) when he is aggressive, everyone is on. his drive and kick game is as effective as anyone's in the league and he can finish around the hoop surprisingly well given his small build. jameer always steps it up in the playoffs and that's the true mark of a champion, when you can elevate your game to the next level when it counts the most. you guys have witnessed first hand what a healthy jameer nelson can do to another teams starting PG. he has made ray look incompetent out there at times, which ray is not by any means.

Calderon has been offered multiple times around here IIRC, and the answer has been the same each time.

I like him as a player, but he's not the answer here.

diop has the worst contract in the league and you still would trade him for someone serviceable?

felton is a free agent so unless this is a sign and trade, what is the point?

Aside from DJ Augustin, no other point guard in the league has seen his play fall off as hard as Jose Calderon this year. Jarrett Jack took his job in a matter of weeks - a job that was essentially catered to Jose years ago.
Don't think that this trade could work out anyways. Even if it did get Diop's horrible contract out of Charlotte, Jose isn't a better starting point guard than Felton (and thats saying a lot).

I've spent the past two years watching Jose and the Raps, and I can state emphatically that his decline is overstated:
http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... ejo01.html39.8% from 3, 56.9 TS%. He is admittedly a terrible defender, but this is less of an issue on a team like the Bobcats where 2 through 5 can defend. And his offense is fantastic, and he is great in the PnR.
He looks bad on defense in part because he spends lots of time on the floor with Hedo Turkoglu and Andrea Bargnani.
If you could turn Diop into Calderon, you should immediately do it.

Even as a sign and trade, what is the point? I mean could anyone show me how this could work within the rules with fait assumption Felton won't sign for less than 6M for the next year? Neither team is/will be below the cap.
And then there is the little detail why we even should want to do that?! Calderon's contract is awful, Diop is a non-factor but at least it is good to have some big men if we decide to do some trades with our expering frankencenter.

There is another idea on transactions board - Diop + Henderson for Calderon ( it is a 3 team deal, this is just our part; NJN - Evans+No.13, TOR - Harris). Does that change anything?

Tell Nelson and the Magic that.
Imagine what they would have done to Jose.
