That would be quite reasonable IMO. He's still pretty young, excellent physical gifts, no significant injury history... plus the simple fact that we gave away a first rounder for him, so we clearly are invested to some extent as a franchise. I think he's important to keep, certainly if it means him or Ray, I choose Thomas now.

Letting him walk after we gave up a pick is simply not an option. We could possibly get him long term at a decent rate, or we could work out some kind of package for him and whoever to land something better. Could TT + Diaw + Nazr land us a newly signed Boozer for example?

Just give him an offer and if he hesitates just say "oh, we heard chicago wants you back", he will panic and sign asap.

I really think he wouldn't mind to bestay in Charlotte, especially if LB will stay. The thing he waited for him at his office to thank him because he felt he is coached for the first time is telling, I hope.

Sign-and-trade with Denver anyone? They don't have the salary to make a move and if they really want him, they may be willing to give up something nice. J.R. Smith would be great but unlikely. I'm thinking something along these lines:

CHA Gets:

Kenyon Martin
2010 Second Round Pick

Why: We get a solid contributor at the 4 and a second round pick in this draft. We also get rid of Diop. Martin has injury problems but he's more reliable than Diop and the pick makes the risk worth it. Kenyon becomes Tracy McGrady type gold after next season when he enters the final year of his deal. Thomas may become a great player but Martin has proven himself and his contract, like I said, is gold after next season ends.

DEN Gets:

Thomas
Diop

Why: Denver gets their prized Thomas and secures him to a long-term deal with a portion of Martin's salary. Diop allows Denver to acquire Thomas without giving up a first-round pick or two. They'll save money over the next two years as Martin's contract will be off the books.

If Thomas wants too much, then this seems like a better option than letting him go. Denver is apparently crazy for him, so making a deal seems feasible.

The Nuggets tried to acquire forward Tyrus Thomas from the Bulls prior to the trade deadline, but he ended up landing in Charlotte.

The Denver Post writes that the Nuggets could try to get Thomas again as he could certainly be on the market.

Denver has $73 million tied up in salaries next season, making a potential splash hard to accomplish.

Well, the cancer may be getting to Karl too much, but if they want him, let them deal for him. There's no chance they get him on the open market with their cap situation.

I doubt they would do it, but if Denver was willing to give up Lawson for Thomas, that seems like a steal.

I'm all for spending the Cap to keep T2 in the long term versus keeping Felton. Please don't get T2 go MJ.

He is starting to play well with the team and bring alot of energy. I think he can easily take over the starting job next season.

Safest thing is just give the QO & match any offer that he receives.

I hear people mention instead of the 12m contract Chandler has, Bobcats should give T. Chandler a 3/4 yrs extension for 6-7m per year. This makes cap space for Felton and T2, Not a bad idea IMO. I wouldn't mind having the same roster, and maybe get a shooter during FA or developing it within.

Sure I think TC would be open to an extension............once he plays out the final year of his current deal.

No way in the world is TC going to opt out leaving 6 or so mill on the table next season.

This isn't a bad deal but regarding the Kenyon for T2/Diop... but we'd need to get a 1st round pick in return. We gave one up to get him for about 20 games.

Actually if you think about this though, shedding all of those contracts at that time opens up like $38m the Summer of 2011 with Martin/Nazr/Tyson coming off the books. That is the year Carmello is a FA. Would not mind landing that guy. J-Rich is also a FA and Aaron Brooks will probably pass up the Qualifying Offer to get a big pay day. Also Caron Butler, Nene, Battier, David West, Tony Parker, Tim Duncan (P), and AK47.

If this franchise has a way to more quickly rebuild for the future by doing deals like that I think you've got to do it unless we're sure Tyrus is going to be a big time PF in this league. 38m that summer is not a bad time to have cap space and without Bernie being in charge we'll actually try to use it this time. Plus subbing Martin for T2 wouldn't cause us to lose anything for next season if you ask me.

I agree. T2 has shown some great things, but DJ showed great things in his first season. If Tyrus gets a huge contract this season, there's nothing to prevent him from slacking off next season and going back to the way he played in Chicago. That's the only positive in keeping Diaw; if Tyrus struggles, he can be benched if he is the starter for next season.

With Chandler, even if he was interested in opting out of his contract for a new one, his agent would slap him. It would be a very stupid move on his part. It doesn't happen. Nazr won't opt out either, because he'd get slapped as well.

Realistically, how many teams could make an offer for him this off-season?

Only Denver deal I would want would be a package of Diaw-Tyrus-Felton for Lawson-Smith-Kmart

lol Lawson is felton 2.0, I would be more interested in doing a package deal for Flynn/Jefferson

but to answer the thread title we need to resign TT no matter what,

if we had the space, what do you think the chances are of Melo signing here?
