The idea was born as a joke when responding to rookie poster Le Meneur, but with the blessing of Fats and Slam, we're going to make this happen. Our season has been over for a few weeks now, so let's get straight to it. First step is to open up the floor for some discussion of potential awards. Post of the Year, Best Poster of the Year, Rookie Poster of the Year, Best Thread of the Year seem pretty straightforward, but what else can we do? 1st team all RGM? Sig and/or Avatar of the Year? Most gentlemanly?

I figure after we get the awards sorted out, we'll have open nominations and narrow a voting list. Then we could have threads with polls, or what I'd prefer to do for a slight element of suspense, pm your votes to me and I'll post the winners after some amount of time.

We're a board full of mature adults, so I know this doesn't need to be written, but don't use this an opportunity to make personal attacks on other posters. We're just doing this for fun/bragging rights, so hopefully no one will be offended if they don't win an award, maybe we do it like HS superlatives and only allow a poster to win one award, so sometimes 2nd highest vote getter takes the "trophy" home? Just game planning on how to keep the board happy when I sweep the award ceremony

How about best nickname given to a player by a poster (BNGTAPBAP award to make it shorter) ?
Grammar nazi award (given to the post with the most grammar/misspelling ussues) ?

I vote Dex's post about comparing Hendo and Hulk or Ham's about the True Blood reference as HoF post of the year.

Gonna bump this. No new suggestions by midweek and I'll make a new thread for category nominations (or more likely, just change the title of this thread.)

When I thought up the end of season awards, I was still able to use RealGM's search function, but that has been limited since then. I can still search user posts for specific terms, so if you can't find a thread or post that you want to nominate but can remember who posted in it and what it was about, I'll do my best to track it down for you.

I think the next step is discussing nominees, some of these will be way more difficult than others (post of the year, thread oty, prediction oty), so they may end up being eliminated as categories. I kind of want to eliminate Most Improved Poster, it's got some large back handed compliment implications... but maybe it would contribute towards continued growth for someone?

I have a few more things to do and I'll start making nominations of my own.

in all seriousness... we should definitely have some fun with the best game thread of the year. we had some awesome ones. what were some of the gts that really stood out?

Google bomb, Lolcats, mario, nbajam stand out off the top of my head. Going to find the sign up sheet. I know Slam did a ton of them, I did a good amount, but I can't remember any specifically.
