Rules
1.You get 1 first rounder this year 6th-30th and a 2nd round pick this year
2.You may have only 2 guys under the rookie contract and no rules against it but see if you can not take the easy way out and take Durant and Curry or Evans
3.Luxary tax is around 65 million so that is the cap about.
4.Everybody is a free agent so you can pick anybody up.
5.Must have at least 12 players.
If you can try and make a team that would have chemistry and make sense
Draft with the 6th pick Greg Monroe-about 3 million
Draft with 2nd round Willie Warren about 800,000
Rookie Contract Brook Lopez-3 million I think
Rookie Contract Kevin Love-4 million or so
Josh Powell-1,000,000
Gerald Wallace-10,000,000
Kobe Bryant-Surpise i picked him i know 24 million
Rodney Carney-1,000,000
Bell-3 million
Shawn Livingston-1,000,000
Mustafa Shukor-500,000
Lamar Odom-8 million about
CDR-1.2 million
This team is actually under 65 million by a mil or so.
Coach Marc Jackson offensive coach Jeff Van Gundy defensive coach. They are really good friends so I think they would like to work together.
The team I would have it be a running team when Livingston is in, not as much as the Suns but def a running team and a Hubie Brown team were the starters play 30-32 mins instead of 38. Use all members of bench.
C.Brook Lopez-32 mins 17 points 8 boards 2 blocks
PF.Kevin Love-32 mins 16 points 10-12 boards 4 dimes (rebounding machine)
SF.Gerald Wallace-30 minutes 16 points 7 boards 2 steals 1 block
SG.Kobe Bryant-28-30 Mins to save him for playoffs. 22-24 points 5 5
PG.Shawn Livingston-32 mins 10 points 9
Bench
C.Greg Monroe-28-32 mins 14 7 and 1.5 blocks 3 dimes
PF.Odom-32 minutes cause I play him at all 5 positions
PF/SF/SG.CDR-26 minutes a game 14 points will play 4 positions
PF.Josh Powell-Total emergency player not reg rotation
SF/SG Rodney Carney 20 mins 8 points
SG/PG.Willie Warren 15 mins 7 points 2 assists
PG.Mustafa Skukur-20 mins 10 points 2 assists
SG/PG/SF.Raja Bell-20 mins at least at 3 positions D specialist 8 points
I followed the paramaters. I didn't get any superstar under rookie contracts but did get 2 arguble future allstars. Got the best player in the game plus an allstar sf and a bunch of very cheap but quality role players that would fit imo. I think Greg Monroe will be the third best player drafted (unless Cousins isn't a headcase) and Willie Warren is a steal imo. Livingston is back and doesn't need to be very fast and athletic to be a good pg with his feel for the game and incredible passing but he still seems pretty quick and explosive this year. Big risk big reward.
I believe this team would win a championship with a big 4 the clutchest player in the game and with Greg and Odom on the bench one of the best benches to.
They would be a running team and the D isn't great but 2 all nba first defenders in Gerald and Kobe plus Bell and JVG is the defensive coach and with Brook clogging the middle and when he is out Monroe is there plus Love the boarding machine the Defense should be top 10-15.
You may judge mine if you want but make sure you do your own. It's fun and it makes you think like a gm. If you need to know how much a player makes go to hoopshype.com and click on salaries
Can any of you build a championship team (if you can with players you like like i did) staying right below the salary taxand not taking Durant-Evans-Rose although I did take Lopez and Love which are close to stars.
So go ahead.

Pretty good team Dex, I'll put up my team either here or BCP so you can compare. I'd have to say though, your PG rotation is mighty weak. You have a great big man mix, great wing mix, solid defense and offense, but those PG's are shaky

Do it in BCP? What's that?
I know the pg rotation doesn't look great but it actually is alot better then what people think. Shawn Livingston is back. He is older and can now take the nba grind of a season. He's older now, he is one of the very few pg's maybe 1 of 5 who can see plays before they happen and I think now that he is healthy he is a potential star again or at least a 2nd tier pg. 10 points 8-10 dimes and 4 boards if he starts is very realistic for his talent. Mustafa Shukor is an underrated pg as Ive said before and I believe Willie Warren will be a lotto talent like Thorton steal.
Now another thing you might not of realized when looking at the team at this point in Kobe's career he might be best suited to play some pg ala Jerry West. He can guard pg's very easily with perfect footwork and length. He shuts down Westbrook and in the olympics was shutting down guys like Barbosa and alot of really fast little's.
So guys who will actually be playing minutes at the pg are Livingston-Kobe-Warren-Shukur. Pretty strong rotation at the pg if you ask me. Espially if Livingston is back he can be a top 10 pg and in the league of seeing plays before they happen playing level of Rondo-Kidd-Nash-Paul. He is a dead on passer.

Salaries:
Larry Sanders - ~2mil (Draft Pick)
Jerome Jordan - ~.5mill (Draft Pick)
Rodrigue Beaubois - ~$1mil (Rookie Salary)
Nicolas Batum - ~$1mil (Rookie Salary)
Steve Nash - ~13mil
Carmelo Anthony - ~16mil
Jamal Crawford - ~9mil
Kendrick Perkins - ~5mil
JR Smith - ~6mil
Channing Frye - ~3.5mil (probably will get that in FA this year)
Renaldo Balkman - ~2mil
Ryan Hollins - ~2mil
Depth Chart:
PG: Steve Nash, Jamal Crawford, Rodrigue Beaubois
SG: JR Smith, Jamal Crawford, Rodrigue Beaubois
SF: Carmelo Anthony, Nicolas Batum
PF: Channing Frye, Larry Sanders, Renaldo Balkman
C: Kendrick Perkins, Ryan Hollins, Jerome Jordan
According to my calculations, that leaves around four million dollars to play with. I can't think of anyone that would be ideal to coach this group but it seems solid to me. It's definitely an up-tempo team that's going to score 100+ per game.

Andrew Bogut (11.1m)
Brendan Haywood (3m)
PG Rajon Rondo/Steve Blake/Anthony Carter
SG Stephen Curry/Thabo Sefalosha/Wesley Matthews
SF Kevin Durant/Kelenna Azubuike/Wesley Johnson
PF Dirk Nowitzki/Carl Landry/Craig Brackins
C Andrew Bogut/Brendan Haywood
$65mil on the dot
I have a defensive stopper at every position, so that when we hit the playoffs we can dial up the intensity. Rajon Rondo is surrounded with tremendous outside shooters and a Center with range to 15ft which gives him room to operate in space. Steph Curry can be the new, improved Ray Allen (we're watching how much he benefits from Rondo), Durant can succeed by taking advantage of one-on-one situations because of the shooting ability of the other guys. Ditto for Dirk. Ditto for Bogut. Veteran small (Carter) and Veteran big (Dirk) command respect from the younger guys. Great character/locker room guys, guys know their roles and play team basketball that benefits everyone both on and off the floor.
Phil Jackson is my coach. He's not only the best coach in the league, but he knows how to utilize his guys on both ends of the floor. The Lakers are among the leaders in offensive and defensive efficiency and the guys would benefit from the triangle offense and the spacing it creates for multiple guys and will allow Rondo to simply pick defenses apart. He commands the respect of every single one of his players so he would keep everybody focused on getting the ultimate prize.

Well, hard to top Swedd's team, unless you ban taking Durant as your rookie contract.

Almost as easy as taking three max salary guys. Two of which are the best at their positions, in the world, and the other is damn near it, if it weren't for Pau.
I can switch Eric Gordon or OJ Mayo out for Steph if you want me to. My team would be just as good

Just quoting Dex's rules, which explicitly say to try not to take Durant and Curry/Evans. Now that I'm noticing though, seems like you assigned totally random contract values to players. Brendan Haywood at 3m when he's currently making 6m, Dirk at 14 when he's currently at 19.8m...
Whatever though, just supposed to be something that makes you think I guess.

It says try not to. Either way, I looked at it and said, "You know, I bet just about everybody is going to pick LeBron, and I bet they're going to pick Bosh and maybe even Dwight. But where's the fun in that?" so I decided to think... differently and try to build a team without a max contract guy or three. If that means I'm taking the easy way out then so be it.
As for Dirk and Haywood, Both are expiring this year. Dirk is in his 30s and signing a new contract with Dallas to help build a winner. He's not going to get max money. I felt that 14 is a fair number for him. Haywood is also in his 30s and wont make much more than $3/4mil for a one dimensional backup role.
i took the hoopshype numbers from next year and rounded to one decimal place for every guy othe than expirings. You on the other hand are over the $65 million limit (which was another thing Dex mentioned) and using salary figures from this year for some guys and next year for others.

Not sure which salary figure you're talking about, Jarrett Jack should be at 4.8 I guess instead of 4.5? Anyway, I'm currently at 65.2 and that's with most guys rounded up, Lawal at an even million as a 2nd rounder, etc. I think it's quite different than deciding "well, Dirk is opting out and he's probably only going to get 14m even though he's in a free agency period where teams are desperate to spend money" or that Haywood, the best center available in the same free agency period, is going to have his contract halved.
BREAKING NEWS: Dwyane Wade signs with team Cronkite. Will play for one dollar and make up the difference in endorsements.
Whatever though, just supposed to be for fun, it's just weird how you manipulated/disregarded the guidelines.

Lol okay, whatever you say bud. I could have picked the same team as you and you'd have found some way to complain or harp on it. You went over the cap, I picked Durant. We both "manipulated our rosters. It's a game. I'm not going to worry about pleasing you, Mr. Pot.

If there is any question about salaries but hoopshype.com/salaries has them. If you go over 65 million and end up with 70 it's not that big of a deal. 65 million makes it more fun more realistic and makes you think more and makes it more of a realistic team.
As for Curry and Evans and Durant I said don't pick them because Evans is arguably a top 5 guard or top 3 sg (he's a 2) and Durant is an mvp candidate so everybody would have them in there starting 5 so no chance of us having different core's. Curry to although maybe not everybody thinks Curry is a future Nash top 1-5 pg (he is)
I don't think everybody will take Lebron. I didn't and alot of others didn't. You guys came up with some really good teams. I hope more of you play. It is fun as heck. We should do it again except instead of the luxary tax we should do a can't go over the cap as if there was a hard cap. Now that would be fun.

I would have definitely complained if you picked the same team as me, since I went out of my way to take players that hadn't been selected yet. Don't be mad that I was more clever in my manipulation of the rules than you were... I wanted to see how good a team with those 3 players would look, you wanted to draft two of the three players Dex challenged you not to take.
We were both having fun until you got all defensive over me posting the guideline infraction that you committed in bold.
