I'd hope our FO would just waive him and admit failure if something like that is the best they can come up with.

Changed the thread title blueandgold so peeps know what they are in for.

As for the offer...........

Beyond awful.

1. Ford has less than zero value. Not only was he forced to ride the pine, now the Pacers are trying to buy him out.

2. We already have a D.Jones type player on the roster who is younger and with much more upside. Bringing Jones in would just hamper the progression of Henderson.

3. S.Jones is just bench fodder.

We'd do much better to just waive Dampier than take on this trade IMO.

Now, if Hibbert was some how included, THEN you'd be talking turkey.

Hibbert, D Jones, Ford

for

Damp, Boris, Henderson?

I can't decide if I'd do that or not

I would.

Hibbert > Damp
Jones > Hendo
Ford < Diaw

2/3 is good enough for me.

I'd be thrilled with any reasonable deal that nets Hibbert. He and Thomas would complement each other well: the lean, athletic 4 and the big, lumbering 5 who is a good post scorer.

That said, I cant envision Indiana parting with him and going into the season with Jeff Foster as their only 5

I would. In a heart beat.

We'd still have to find a back up PF but that would be a small price to pay if we managed to net Hibbert.

So the Bobcats trade an expiring contract (that may still be partially unguaranteed, I just don't feel like looking that up) for a PG that the Pacers want to buyout, a so-so wing, and bench fodder.

Thats just a really bad trade. There is no way to even try and pretend its a decent offer.

Slam, The only problem is that wouldn't work. We're sending about $10mil too much their way. Unless they want to send us Dunleavy (doubtful) then we'd have to make some sort of three team trade to get that to go through.

It seems Toronto is jonesing to get in on a trade with us and Indy--this is the only way I could get the salaries to work out:

Charlotte out: Dampier, Diaw, Henderson, Augustin
Charlotte in: Calderon, Hibbert, D. Jones, Marcus Banks

Indiana out: Hibbert, D. Jones, Ford, Dunleavy, McRoberts
Indiana in: Dampier, Diaw, Henderson, Evans, Toronto 1st

Toronto out: Calderon, Banks, Evans, First
Toronto in: Ford, Augustin, Dunleavy, McRoberts

If there's a way to AVOID getting Calderon, I do that deal in a heartbeat.

I see what you are saying. How about something like:

Charlotte out: Dampier, Diaw, Augustin
Charlotte in: Calderon, Hibbert, Evans

Indiana out: Hibbert, Ford
Indiana in: Dampier, Dorsey, Banks, Miami 1st

Toronto out: Calderon, Dorsey, Evans, Banks, Miami 1st
Toronto in: Ford, Augustin, Diaw

Jose - Livingston - Tank
Jax - Hendo
Crash - UPS
T2 - Evans
Hibbert - Nazzy - Gana

I would love to get Hibbert, I'd even dig having Marcus Banks in the deal. Hibbert is a legit center, he has some post moves, plays defense and I know for a fact he wants to improve, plus he's alot younger than our centers and he hasn't had any serious injuries. He's not as offensively polished yet as I'd like, but he's young and can grow with this team. But why would Indiana give up their young player when they're clearly a up and coming team? Would the dust chip, Diaw, and maybe Nazr be enough? I would be very surprised they'd give him up.

Forget Hibbert, it's all about Ford and Dunleavy.

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... Id=2bfmmzx

Except no Dampier. Throw in a pick if necessary.

Why?

Ford/Livingston/Collins
Jackson/Dunleavy/Carroll
Wallace/Dunleavy/Brown
Thomas/McGuire/Najera
Nazr/Dampier/Diop

Fills two needs (PG & backup SG) and gives Wallace a legitimate backup at the three. Also clears a million in salary, which we can use to waive and then resign Dampier. Off-season success, we improve our depth, and another four-game sweep awaits us next Spring. Did I mention the nearly $20m that comes off the books after next season?

Stop this talk regarding the Pacers. Why would we help them in any way when they represent a threat to us getting back into the playoffs? Also, why would they want our scraps when they are trying to make headway and add to their young team?

What we've got to offer any team is a big block of salary clearing money, and nobody really cares much about that now (those over the cap and into the tax are perfectly willing to pay for the privilege).
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I'm curious about what kind of players would the Bobcats want to get in exchange for Dampier?

To be honest I think most of us think he wont be traded. Rather, he'll just be waived in order to get under the LT.

I would kind of prefer that we trade him for an expiring contract, like say Samuel Dalembert and a 2nd. Saving the Kings money, and actually getting someone who could really help.

Or the whole outright waive him thing. Basically if the Bobcats trade its to get someone who could really help. The Fan of the Pacers offer isn't even close.

If his contract is as valuable as some say, get a young talented player from a team who needs to save money. I like the Hibbert idea, I like Mcgee or Blatche from Washington, I like Kaman or Jordan, this team needs big players, after you get the starters in order then work on the bench. To load up on a backup for our strongest positions while we have gaping holes in our starting rotation is backwords to me.

How expendable do we think Thompson/Dalembert are with Landry, Cousins, and Hassan in the mix? Were all those rumors of DJ for Thompson legitimate or was that just fan speculation?

They have the space to do a DJ/Diaw/Damp for Thompson/Garcia/Udrih deal. Would we want to take those bad contracts just to get Thompson?

EDIT: Since they're $14mil under the cap they probably wouldn't care about Damp's contract. Would DJ/Diaw/Nazr for Thompson/Beno/Garcia?
