This is copied from the NBA wiretap Headlines on the real gm web site, I think this is good news and a sign that we're going to do a package deal to send some players out, but what do you all think?

We'll see. Everyone knows our hand, which means playing the trade game will be a bit more difficult.
Denver is interested in moving JR Smith and packaging other players if need be. Wonder if Damp could bring us Smith and Birdman? Both are gambles, but would give us a formidable second team, which we've lacked.
I also like some combination of players that sends out Diaw and Damp and brings back Arenas and Blatche.
Both trades assume other players would be involved.

They WILL try to trade him?So they didn“t have a plan before the signing of Kwame? If you trade for a trade chip the most logical thing you must have is some kind of plan to trade it again...

two words "Samuel Dalembert"
also. No version of these team ever had a plan. Do the research, its from the very start that its been done on the fly.

the title of the article should have read:
Bobcats Will Try to Deal Dampier: but will fail miserably and eventually cut him

I think LB is blackmailing the FO to improve the team or he won't come back. Notice how you haven't heard a thing form him. I hope they don't make some stupid trade just to make him happy. His unhealthy obsession with jose is reminding me of Diop.

The Jose Calderon crush was just spooky. The guy went 0-5 in 19 minutes at the World's scrimmage against the US and then injured his leg.

I think they already have some players in mind, and they may have even already had some contact about who the want to bring in. The fact that they will attempt to deal next month makes me think we're going to probably send either DJ, Diaw or one of the other young guys with Dampier. I'm excited about it myself, at least the guys are planning to make some serious moves to get players as opposed to trying to save money and be mediocre this year.

CB you know some of us thought that they'd just cut Dampier to save some money. Maybe they put it out there for the Bobcats fans to let us know they're making power moves, then again.... maybe they're just jiving.

its probably more likely they cut him now cause everyone in the world knows they are trying to trade him and he has a expiration date on him....why trade something for a dude we can get for free if we wait you out?

I think you may find there are a few teams out there that still want to get salaries off their books in exchange for nothing (Damp). If they wait for us to cut him, they can't move contracts in trade. That's why I mentioned Denver and D.C. If you're eyeing a trade partner for Damp, you must look at teams who have players who are talented but present enough problems for their teams that they are no longer welcome (JR Smith and Arenas, for instance). Trading for either would be in keeping with our salvage mentality (Jax, T2). Believe me, we aren't going to pry a player a team really likes out of their hands for Damp, that's for sure.

the PLAN, guys, was originally to cut Dampier and resign him. After sitting down with him and learning that he wouldn't resign for our desired price, we went to plan B. That's why we signed Kwame. They had a plan (trade for CP3), and when it fell through they formulated a new one (waive/resign Damp). When IT fell through, they made a new one.

Thanks for the link...good read on the Damp situation. Where's your evidence on the CP3 "plan" though? Sounds like a pipe dream to me. I can't imagine that our FO was stupid enough to believe that we had the pieces in place to grab CP3 (or that CP3 would have consented to coming to Charlotte.)
I still see us packaging Diaw up with Dampier for something come Sept 13.

Yes, there are teams trying to get rid of players for nothing: Dampier. Like Rip Hamilton.
Hamilton for Dampier. Would you do it?

Not a big fan of Rip. I think that if we're going to mortgage the farm and venture into luxury land that we need to grab someone with a lot more potential reward (and risk) like Arenas.
Rip had an abysmal shooting year last year and would be one helluva expensive bench player as we're thick with wings. We definitely need someone who can score efficiently and Rip ain't it.
Just for kicks - who would you give up for Damp and Diaw?

I was never a fan of Rip's, I'd rather waive Dampier and get the money off the books.

MPM the only players Detroit has that I'd even consider are Stuckey, Monroe and Gordon. Gordon is a small SG, but maybe he can run the point and give some long distance scoring that the Bobcats need. He and Jax in the backcourt could be a nice tandem.

Totally agree. I also don't see them parting with any of these three.
