Okafor shunned again

Post#1 » by Battery » Mon Sep 6, 2010 3:20 pm

From the realgm WT...

Okafor Had Trouble Fitting In With Hornets

Hornets coach Monty Williams expects more out of center Emeka Okafor this season.

Williams observed Okafor from afar last season and felt that he didn't adapt to New Orleans right off the bat.

"For most guys, when you are traded to a team that was successful, it's hard to fit in right away," Williams said.

"The dynamic of fitting in, it's not always right there and it's probably not fair to Emeka to just expect him to come in and fit in right away. Emeka will have to find ways to be efficient. I think we have done some things —- added some shooters -- who will make things easier on Emeka. Now that he is adjusted, I think he is going to have a very good year."

No surprise here. He was with us for 5 years and wasn't friendly with anyone and developed no chemistry with teammates so it comes as no shock he couldn't fit in with the Hornets. Still ecstatic and can't believe we found someone to take this overrated stiff off our hands.

Well, that's certainly going to hurt his trade value now.

I'm not surprised. Emeka is an interesting person, could be a great player, but doesn't seem motivated enough. He was that way here too.

Maybe Okafor played a big role in why Bower was let go?

Or we overlooked your poor attempt to grasp at straws.

I don't see anything wrong in the excerpt you posted.

Gee, a traded player had a hard time adapting to a new situation? Really?

If any of your editorial comment was remotely true, then it would be worrisome and could "hurt his trade value," but we all know you are full of sh*t and deny reality and you couldn't be farther off base when you say Okafor was not friendly to anyone here.

For someone who could not have been proven more wrong this past season, you sure like to go on the offensive and keep broadcasting your stupidity to the world.

All I know is Okafor at center least season would've been better than what we had.

There was a point to be made regarding Okafor. And it was one of team chemistry and no negativity. But I guess we should not discuss those things.

We're all winners.

Let's get some freaking debate going. Sheeeeeesh.

We've discussed those things ad nauseum. You blatantly baited another poster, you'd have a warning on a less tolerant board by now for doing that.

So what? What's the point of a message board? You post something and then other people respond. I miss Hamilton and wanted to bring him back to some Bobcats talk. Just because I say Okafor is a stiff doesn't mean you or anyone else has to agree with me. You act like what I did was soooooooooooooo offensive. People take shots at me all the time, I don't whine about it. And like I said previously, there's a point to my Okafor bashing and it has to do with our current team's chemistry.

Chemistry is something stat heads do not understand and they also do not understand how negativity plays a role in the downfall of a team. So of course you do not want to discuss this, you would much prefer seeing someone punch out a bunch of meaningless stats that tell us absolutely nothing about each individual game.

You know what I dislike? Without naming names, there's one poster here who posts horrendous trade proposals ad nauseam. Some of the stuff is downright embarrassing and makes Bobcats fans look like clueless idiots. But hey, that's just my opinion and he's free to post as many of those God awful embarrassing proposals which clutter the board with nonsense as he sees fit.

battery,

look, i am all for open discussion and debates, even old retread debates (like this one) assuming there is something new to discuss and people actually want to post about it.

we dont all have to agree as you said. and its perfectly ok to start threads for the purpose of debates.

however, sometimes you just have an odd way of trying to illicit reactions out of people. you tend to do it in a mocking/attacking type of post. there are better ways to go about getting a debate started, ways that dont come across in this manner.

i know you are the type that has thick shin and enjoys a good trash talking debate with mudslinging etc.. however, not everyone else responds well (or wants to respond) to that type of discussion, which then makes our jobs (the mods) a bit more challenging. and with as few of posters as we have on this board, the last think i want to do is turn people off from coming here or have half our threads end in personal attacks.

so all i ask is that you and anyone else think about these things when posting. i think that is a fair request.

How about we all calm down and go watch the game?

Or something along those lines.

One other thing I don't like....I really dislike it when I click on the last post of a thread I've been following and it's just a response. There's no quote which leaves me to guess who he/she is responding to and also what this person is talking about. It's not that difficult to hit the QUOTE button fellas especially when your post ends up at the top of a page.

Fats you seem to be guilty of this a lot and it really bugs the heck out of me. For some reason the Bobcats board leads realgm in this phenomenon. I cannot figure this out. But at least in this thread you took the time out to address me personally and, believe me, I appreciate that. Otherwise....I'd just assume you were talking to anyone but me.

Said person dislikes certain poster that does certain things but this said poster will keep his opinions to himself because that is irrelevant to the currently discussed topic. ;)

Or something along those lines.

Now, to stay on topic, as I said, Okafor is a good player. Hell, he's a great player that has performed well for a 2nd overall pick. IMO, he lacked motivation when he played here likely because he felt he was the man / franchise player, so there was no reason for him to make substantial improvements. This is fine because he was a great player coming out of college and his performance showed. If it's not for that contract, I bet he's still playing here today and most people would be happy with his performance.

As Hamilton said, when you're switching to a new system, you'll have problems. Combine that with switching to your second NBA team several years after you enter the league. His value is down mainly due to that contract.

Give him another year and I think you'll see a return to double double averages and double double performance.

Paul | Thornton | Ariza | West | Okafor is a very solid lineup for a Western Conference team. They'd probably finish 4th or 5th in the East.
