bobcats tv issues
this has been a big topic the past few years. figured we could have a dedicated place for people to vent about not being able to watch the games (or in some cases not being able to watch in HD - http://blogs.charlotte.com/inside_the_n ... games.html)

Why the heck do they have to show the Hurricanes games in Charlotte on FSCR? Maybe like 4 people watch those games. They should be on SportSouth and the Bobcats should be on FSCR so we can get the HD channel. It makes no sense, just dump the Canes or put them on tape delay.

Re: bobcats tv issues
i think we all hoped that having MJ (officially as owner) and making the playoffs would go a long way towards fixing some the tv problems. that does not seem to be the case. i assume those people outside the magic radius are still unable to get games.

We don't get SS in Raleigh... so all games are on "special events"? Great, when they decide to activate it.

If I live in Indiana (which I do, I don't know why I said "if") how could I access the majority of the games? Are there online streams?

Actually I don't think Time Warner in Charlotte has SportSouth in HD which is probably why I thought we didn't have it in Rock Hill. I have Comporium Cable and they have SportSouth in HD, however I checked Mondays game and it's not being shown in HD. So I wonder if this is how it's going to be during the regular season...
MJ should get some partners and start up his own regional sports channel.

NBA League Pass Broadband Rocks. $109 early bird special right now. When it first came out, it was sketchy, but last year it streamed beautifully (so long as you have a solid broadband internet connection) and you can pull up stat overlays, etc. in game. I don't think you can get preseason however. If anyone knows differently, please let me know.
There are two things that have almost single handedly saved my marriage - NBA League Pass Broadband and wireless headphones for my Xbox. I'm in Miami BTW - caught almost every Bobcats game last year on my laptop.

So I would pay 109 dollars? That's far too much...

I pay $30 per month for League Pass - but I also get college hoops, NHL and NASCAR thrown in as well. I do it for the season so it ends up running me $200+
It's a small price to pay IMO - plus is allows me to watch a boat load of basketball.

Do you get Fox Sports South? I think their 2 different channels but owned by Fox. If you get Fox Sports South then I would think you would get the games

I guess it's relative. I'm a bobcats fanatic, so I look at it like it's $1.32 a game, which is a small price for me for several months of entertainment. You get to choose up to 7 teams to follow, but I find myself pretty much sticking with the Bobs. I travel a lot, so I like the convenience of being able to take the games with me wherever I go as well. In any case, there may be cheaper options out there, but I find this one dependable and high quality. Let me know if you find a good alternative.

Re: bobcats tv issues
I don't think I'll be getting the pass, my internet connection is too slow, but just in case I change my mind, I'd like to know : can you save the games and have them on your computer to watch them whenever you want or do you have to watch them live ?
I think it's possible, but just wanted to be sure (I COULD do the research, but I'm feeling way too lazy right now)

update to the tv situation... looks like all games will be shot in HD but its still up to TWC to add that channel in charlotte (same for other cable outlets).
all 82 games on tv is pretty impresive though. only 70 on tv last year.

Re: bobcats tv issues
Actually, Raleigh is the giveaway in this plan, since MASN means they don't get SportSouth. But serving a bunch of markets closer to Charlotte is their plan.

Re: bobcats tv issues
I think the Bobcats are hoping (working) toward a situation where areas that don't get SportSouth (and this is a baseball-driven problem) will get SportSouth and those that don't get SportsSouth HD will add SportSouth HD.
But there's something I think many of you are missing. I heard constant complaints before that the hop-scotch between FS Carolinas and SportSouth made you crazy. Now that's been fixed, and yet you're now annoyed that you might not see every game in HD.
Some of you sound kinda whiny.
