Michael Jordan One On One

Post#1 » by BigSlam » Sat Oct 23, 2010 2:13 am

Michael Jordan says that whether or not his team is as deep or talented as last season, he expects the Charlotte Bobcats to return to the playoffs.

Jordan also says he wants Larry Brown to coach here as long as Brown wishes and that the times of constant roster churn are likely over.

Jordan spoke with the Observer Friday afternoon before the Bobcats' final preseason exhibition against the Atlanta Hawks:

ON THE PUBLIC PERCEPTION THAT, OVER TWO SUMMERS, THEY EFFECTIVELY TRADED EMEKA OKAFOR FOR LITTLE BUT PAYROLL RELIEF:

"The Okafor thing was more (about) coaching philosophy,'' Jordan said. "When Bernie (Bickerstaff) was here, he was comfortable with the way (Okafor) played. Larry had a whole different perspective. And it relieved us of long-term (financial obligations), at a time when Bob (Johnson) was looking to try to minimize cost.

that kinda ends a lot of speculation.

Interesting he didn't name DJ as a part of the core?

It's nice to have a core group of four or "fierce foursome" according to Bonnell. But it's also sad that DJ was left out. :(

Nah, DJ hasn't earned that yet. Now, if he goes through an entire season as the starter, it would be fair to consider him as a part of the core. Until then, he's just another player looking to expand his role.

That's a good take.

I take Jordan as that new Manager/Boss that comes into your work place with a reputation as a sales booster. At first everyone is skeptical of him or fears him. But then you meet him and notice how much he talks out of his ass. The fact that he's had more to say about what an impact he would have on the current game as oppose to increasing our scoring or allowing us to stay just as good. We lost players instead of gaining the same or getting better ones.

That kind of work vibe makes everyone say to themselves "I'm just going to do my job and go home." That kills the great work vibe you once had all because some new Manager / Boss dances in with some sort of cockiness from a previous success. Then you end up leaving that job wondering what went wrong?

I'm going to try to stay positive about this teams expectations while showing the finger to anyone wearing a Bulls #23 jersey.
