2010-11 Season Predictions

Post#1 » by fatlever » Sun Oct 24, 2010 6:32 pm

get your predictions in before the season starts...

record: 42-40 - 2 weeks ago i had them at 38 wins. the way they finished the preseason gives me hope so i am bumping them up to 42 wins. i think our top 7 is good enough to possibly take us further than 42 wins, but i fear our lack of depth, especially at pg and c, will cost us greatly at some point.

8th seed in playoffs

stat predictions

Jackson: 19.0ppg, 5.0rpg, 4.5apg
Wallace: 17.5ppg, 8.5rpg, 2.5apg, 1.5spg, 1.0bpg
Thomas: 14.0ppg, 8.0rpg, 1.5apg, 2.0bpg
Augustin: 13.5ppg, 3.0rpg, 5.0apg
Diaw: 9.0ppg, 4.5rpg, 4.0apg
Mohammed: 8.0ppg, 5.5rpg, 0.5apg
Brown: 7.0ppg, 3.0rpg, 0.5apg
Livingston: 6.0ppg, 1.5rpg, 3.0apg (in only 50 games)
Henderson: 4.0ppg, 1.5rpg, 1.0apg

Record: 46-36
On account of us winning more on the road than he did last season and maintaining dominance at home.

Jackson: 18.0ppg, 5.0rpg, 5.0apg
Wallace: 18.0ppg, 8.0rpg, 3.0apg, 1.5spg, 1.0bpg
Thomas: 14.0ppg, 8.0rpg, 1.5apg, 2.0bpg
Augustin: 16.0ppg, 3.0rpg, 6.0apg
Diaw: 12.0ppg, 4.0rpg, 5.0apg
Mohammed: 6.0ppg, 6.0rpg, 0.5apg
Brown: 10.0ppg, 3.0rpg, 0.5apg
Livingston: 6.0ppg, 3.0rpg, 3.0apg (in only 50 games)
Henderson: 4.0ppg, 1.5rpg, 1.0apg

I'd also like to add the following:
Jax with 2 steals a game and a suspension for exceeding the NBA T's allowed.
Crash with 1.5 made 3's per game.
DJ with 2 steals per game and less than 2.5 turn overs or less per game.
T2 will lead the team with 3.5 fouls per game.
Boris with 1 block per game.
Nazzy with 1 block her game.
UPS with 1 steal per game.
Livingston with 50 games sounds about right.

:D  To get to the sixth seed it will take a record of 45-37 and you may think I'm crazy, this team can do it! That will get us to the second round of the playoffs because Miami and Boston will be 1/2 seeds with Orlando 3. And with a couple of tweak trades we can beat them.
I still think this team will look different before the playoffs. if the front office is smart they should find a way to move GW , after 12-15-2010 and get a big veteran expiring contract / plus younger player in return. One idea would be Shaun Livingston/Wallace for Billups and Arfallio. This will further trim our salary for 2011/2012 season and at the same time give us a strong veteran point to lead us into this years playoffs.
Then insert Derek Brown as our starting 3 the second half of this season. Allot of us fans are really high on this kid and think he is within a year of stepping into Wallaces spot.
SAVE LOTS OF MONEY NEXT SEASON AND MAKE THE PLAYOFFS THIS SEASON--THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS

39 wins, miss the playoffs by a couple of games, a wasted year while we wait a couple more season to completely rebuild.

Diaw is traded before deadline.

Augustin plays just well enough at times to keep some supporters, and just bad enough to drive most people insane.

Mason Plumlee drafted with 11th pick

I think division winners and best of other teams get top 4 seeds - seeded according to their records. To prevent situations where there are two dominant teams (i.e. with clerly better records tha the rest) from the same division going against each other already in conference semifinals. Actually being fifth in this scenario is very bad situation in comparison to being sixth. Let just say records are like this
A*
B
C*
D*
E
F
G
H
where A, C, D, are division winners. Under rules valid till 2006 pairs would be like that:
A - H
C - G
D - F
B - E
so E would have to play (baring no upset) both B and A to get into conference finals in comparison to F (worse team playing D and C) which actually lead to that susspicious Clippers loss to Memphis in order to rather be 6th and play 3rd Denver (with HCA) than much better 4th Dallas (on road).

Oh, wiki:
To address the criticisms of having each division champion guaranteed a top-three seed, regardless of record, the rules were changed such that the division winners are now only guaranteed a top-four seed. The best second-placed team in the division now may be seeded as high as two depending on its regular season record. This avoids the scenario of possibly having the two best teams in the conference seeded 1 and 4 if they play in the same division, thus being forced to play each other in the second round (given no upsets).

Hard for me to predict this team. At one level I think they can be at least equal to last year's squad (when we were playing well). Then again, we're riding a proverbial thin line between holding onto the playoffs or falling back 10 games from last year due to improvement from other teams in the East. If Melo goes to NY or Jersey, that could sway the dynamic. The Knicks will be much improved anyway.

Therefore I will predict we kiss our cousin, finish 41-41, and miss the playoffs by 1 game.

One caveat...if we make a significant trade while we're in contention (for a quality player at a position of need, like center), I think we make the playoffs.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

As of right now, I think we get into the playoffs as the 7th seed with around 40-43 wins. I also believe that MJ will make at least one trade this year that will net us a few more wins. So, by good graces and luck, I could see us winning 45-47 this year based on the idea that MJ will make a move or two.

I think 5th or 6th seed is possible with a matchup against Chicago or Boston. We'll probably get swept again.

Too lazy to predict anything else but:

- Tyrus Thomas wins Sixth-Man
- Stephen Jackson or Gerald Wallace will be snubbed from the All-Star team, possibly both.
- We'll sweep the Lakers
- And, the "blow it up" threads start in Mid-November

LB forces his way out leaving many Bobcats fans bitter.
Cats miss the playoffs ... barely.
Next season starts with a lockout.

So, prepare for the worst. That way you will not be suprised when it happens to you.

Honestly though, I'm hoping for the best & that none of what I just wrote really happens.....
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Depends on how you look at it though. Some might argue we would've made the playoffs easily, if LB had packed his bags and sulked his a$s back to "miserable old fart" land, before the season began and we started the season with Silas as coach.

So some fans might be bitter from that perspective.
