Key Match-Up: DJ vs. Wall, can DJ keep up with the speedy and athletic John Wall?
6th Man: Tyrus Thomas, again we need Tyrus to bring the energy off the bench... hustle, rebound, block shoots and put up another 15+ points.
Preview: From ESPN (Too lazy to do a write up)
Flip Saunders wants his Washington Wizards to play smart and have fun. Prized rookie John Wall seems to have no trouble grasping either concept.
Coming off the best performance of his young career, Wall looks to help the Wizards avoid losing to the visiting Charlotte Bobcats for the fifth consecutive time Friday night.
Wall barely missed his first career triple-double with 29 points, 13 assists and nine steals during a 116-115 home win over Philadelphia on Nov. 2. Eight days later, the No. 1 overall pick draft achieved that feat with 19 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds in Wednesday's 98-91 victory over Houston.
"Sometimes I get too excited trying to make a spectacular play instead of the simple play," Wall said. "I think I did the right thing with the simple plays."
Wall is averaging 19.3 points and ranks among the league leaders with 10.2 assists per game, but Washington (2-4) must find a way to win when the former Kentucky star doesn't put up gaudy numbers. He has scored fewer than 15 points in three of the club's four losses.
Forward Andray Blatche, who had 20 points and 11 boards Wednesday, has complemented Wall by averaging 17.5 points and 8.2 rebounds.
Looking for more cohesiveness and a better sense of urgency from his team, Saunders walked out of a practice Monday and then called for a second session later in the day. With more than half his roster comprised of players with three or fewer years of NBA service, Saunders is trying not to make things difficult on his club.
"It's back to fundamentals," Saunders told the Wizards' official website. "It's back to execution basketball. It's also about getting back to having fun and thinking about when you played when you were a kid and just had fun. What I want them to do is to realize the seriousness but not lose the passion of fun playing too."
The Wizards employed stifling defense Wednesday, allowing a season low for points while holding the Rockets to 39.1 percent shooting.
However, a lack of offense has plagued the Wizards against the Bobcats of late.
Washington has averaged 88.0 points while losing eight of nine to Charlotte. They averaged 81.0 on 39.4 percent shooting while dropping both home games to the Bobcats last season.
Blatche totaled 10 points in those contests.
Coming off their first-ever playoff appearance, the Bobcats (2-6) have started slow but both wins have come on the road. Charlotte had 13 road victories last season and didn't win its third game away from home until Jan. 3.
Stephen Jackson had 20 points and Gerald Wallace added 19 with 14 rebounds as the Bobcats snapped a three-game skid with a 101-96 win at Toronto on Wednesday.
"We still have a long way to go but I'm proud of them," coach Larry Brown said.
Wallace, who has double-doubles in three of his last five contests, averaged 17.8 points and 13.0 rebounds in four games against the Wizards last season.

I'm looking forward to a TT-McGee battle. And the battle of who can make their coach facepalm more in Easy Yi and Jax.

This game is very important. We need to build off our last win. And we want to prove to ourselves we are not celler dwellers in the Division. Wall is a monster and this game will be hard to win on the road, but it can be done with an overall solid team effort. But if someone is slacking, we will have a serious uphill battle.

alvin robertson? are you saying thats who we need to defend wall? yeah, it would be nice to have such a NASTY defender on the squad. how about gary payton from the mid 90s? or dennis johnson from the 80s? or current westbrook?

defending wall will be mainly up to our bigs and this is where not having tyson and ratliff is going to hurt us. both those guys were fantastic and shutting off penetration from opposing guards. there is no guard in the league that can stay in front of wall 1 vs 1, so the team will have to rotate quickly and collapse on him.
jax and diaw better be careful with the ball tonight. the wiz are forcing 20 turnovers a game and wall is getting steals like he is playing against jr high kids.
we need to make wall work on defense. whenever livingston is in the game we need to go straight at him in the post.

I see Wall doing a LOT of driving tonight and guys like Jax, Tyrus and Boris picking up a LOT of cheap fouls for slapping and reaching as he blows on by them.
I'd rather see Hendo out there for long stretches defending Wall and either DJ or Livingston defending Hinrich. At least Hendo has the quicks and length to pressure Wall a little?

Oh come on Fats, I knew you would be the one to respond to this but apparently you missed the joke. I'm surprised you did not get this considering Wall's last game.

^agreed(Slam). Hendo should see more PT just due to his defense. He has been great on D in all the game so far, even cause frustration from his man. Key is to pressure Wall and get the ball out of his hands (hopeful it doesn't end up in an assist)
We should also keep the pace slow.

Once again you fail to see the joke.
John Wall vs DJ Augustin
Can you say
quadruple double? Fat Lever never did that! Only 4 NBA players have done that, one is Alvin Robertson.
Wall did have nine steals in one game this season. Just sayin...

ahh. ok gotcha...
if we play jax 40 mins and let him pass the ball around like a 35 year old investment banker at the YMCA... yeah wall just might get 10 steals.

fat had 9 steals in a game once and 8 in a game where he had a triple double. he came close to alvin. alvin was always a slightly better theif and defender and fat was always a better passer.

Fat Lever was definitely the better all around player but Alvin was probably the best thief of all time.
And I don't think you have to worry about Jax turning the ball over to Wall because Jax doesn't really pass the ball to DJ. It's also not likely Wall will get 10 steals tonight because DJ is not someone who will force the action. If Wall wants his 10 steals tonight he's going to have to immediately press DJ, otherwise that ball is leaving DJ's hand the second he gets over mid court with a nice safe pass to Jax.

should be but he's out of shape & confidence is iffy depending on the game. Sometimes he moves well, sometimes he doesnt. He comes off the bench for now but I think he will be starting again within the next 3 games. He's slowly getting it back. He might even had started this game but Flip probably doesnt want his 1st start to be against the 8ft tall guard in Jackson

Big game tonight. We really need to start winning games, especially since we have a nationally broadcasted game coming up. We want to be at least close to .500 by that time. I'm a little nervous about this game. We are terrible turnover wise. Wallace and Jackson are BOTH in the top 20 in the league with most turnovers. Thats terrrible. The Wiz are a good turnover team, which means they force a lot of turnovers. When we loose, we turn it over. Add that it is on the road and it's reason to be conncerned. So i will say, if we do not turn the ball over tonight then we will win the game...

You guys have seen John Wall play right?
All you need to do is put a wall up, force him to shoot from range, and establish good transistion defense... one guy on wall is exactly how he's been going off and getting in his rhythm.
Sucks that our team defense is trizzash
