Non-trolling Knick fan here. I come in peace. I really liked Gerald Henderson coming out of school. I was wondering, why doesn't he play? When he has played, how has he looked? I thought he and DJ would and still could form a very dangerous backcourt with his athleticism and DJ's savvy and speed. What is the problem? Am I overvaluing Gerald's abilities?

I'm pretty sure he's hurt right now and LB is sitting him because he hasn't been able to practice. That and you know first-hand how LB likes to play younger players.

He's looked pretty decent this year, last year not so much. He won't get a ton of PT here because of Stephen Jackson playing 35-40 minutes per night though. IMO, I think he's been outplayed by 2nd round pick Derrick Brown at some times but that probably has more to do with LB's system and how he prefers the 6'8 dual position players.

Ok, thanks man. Has his shot or handle improved much in the time he has played?
I really thought he was a stud in school. Intelligent with all-worldly athleticism.
I hope he gets some solid run sometime this season.
And yes, I DO know how LB treats young guys. SMH in disgust at the memory pf his 41 different lineups in, I believe, 79 games (surgery) here in NYC. I liked the way he turned the 'Cats around last year though and I take his year as Knick HC as an aberration and not a true testament to his coaching. We were a madhouse of an organization back then. I can't put that year on Larry.
Good luck the rest of the way.

yeah, henderson is dealing with some knee problems that has forced him to miss the past 4 games. he will be back soon, i think.

he has been much better this year. he will probably never live up to his draft spot and will most likely settle into a role player type.

his energy and defense is very good. he just needs to get more confidence on offense. right now his only scoring move (outside of dunks) his a nice step back jumper from about 15-18 feet. it would really do him a lot of good to improve his handles and shooting range.

i hope he comes back soon cause our bench is super thin without him.

His shot has gotten way better, I no longer cringe when he heaves one up. He just needs to figure out the speed and nuances of the game some more, and that only comes with PT.

So far, Henderson has looked promising. He's a useful bench producer and when he came off to defend Kobe last year it showed he could be a great 2G defender too.

I see Shannon Brown meets Spree to be honest, if and when he gets it together. Hopefully that's soon.
Thanks for the analysis guys.

They're just mad that they live in the largest city in America and still can't win.

I doubt Charlotte is even in the top 25 largest American cities, and by can't win I mean championships.

As of 2009, 18th. It's probably higher this year; people are moving to the south because it truly is cheaper to live here (for example, I could rent a lake cabin for $500 here or a nice farmhouse for $1000 a month or less). It's more expensive in Charlotte or Atlanta but it's still cheaper compared to New York, Philly, etc.

Charlotte can win a championship. We almost won the Super Bowl several years ago if it wasn't for that bastard Vinatieri. The Bobcats *can* win a Championship but they won't with their current philosophy.

Henderson's been very good in the limited amount of time he's played so far this season. Looked like he was turning the corner and then unfortunately got hurt which has now derailed his development. His outside shot is MUCH improved and he has also shown a no fear attitude when attacking the rim. Probably the reason why he's gimpy now. But I have to say he's done enough this season where we're all very intrigued by what he can do once healthy. I know I'm really looking forward to seeing him on the court

I didn't know it was so large. I don't live there. Still probably less than half the size of New York.

I'm talking strictly about basketball. New York loses continually, while other major cities do well. Like Boston and LA.

Shooting guard Gerald Henderson is at Duke, getting a second opinion on the soreness in his left knee that has kept him out the past several games.

Anyone else worried about this knee thing dragging on as long as it has?

Well, if you're going to get a second opinion, Duke is the place to do it. Still, if it's bad enough to warrant going to one of the top medical centers in the country, that worries me.

Duke players can't get a break with injuries.

   :o Hendo has got real upside.. too bad he's on IR..hope he gets back soon.
If we trade him I think you will see him on another team that needs a two. then he will thrive. Here he is behind Jax and can't get enough minutes to develop. Like his dad he will be around in the NBA a long time.
If Jax keeps getting technicals ,I would trade him and Matt carroll for Troy Murphy and Twill and let Hendo start... livingtston/dj backup .Twill/Dbrown backup Wallace at 3... use Diaw as a point forward for now.
Murphy backsup TT..Then as twill and dbrown develop trade wallace, diop, diaw to Orlando for vince carter and gortect.
We make the playoffs and are in a good position to free up 13 mill in salary room with 4 mill payoff to vince next season. Also keep nazr /murphys expiring. Resulting in big saved Dollars in 2011
