Change the Team name?

Post#1 » by penquin11 » Mon Dec 6, 2010 8:26 pm

Listen I love the novel idea of naming a club after its founder, but "bobcats" is quiet a sissy name for a team..... I have made a list of ideas for possible other names for the bobcats...

I voted Bobcats. It's the current name, goes perfectly with the colors we have (though flights would work well with Navy I think) and the logo and everything is cool.

i think at this point i am ok with keeping the name the same, even if that dbag robert johnson has his taint all over the name.

unless of course they agree to my suggestion of the charlotte wonderfunk.

If the Bobcats is your idea of a sissy name that needs to be changed, then 3/4 of the league is in the same boat.

I say let's right the wrongs of the past. Once the NBA purchases the Hornets from Shinn, swap teams, colors, everything. We get the Charlotte Hornets back, along with CP3, Okafor, etc. We send the LOLCATS to New Orleans or wherever they want to ship them to (let's face it...that team will be moved in time). THIS FIXES EVERYTHING!!!
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

i know its horrible to say this and i dont mean any disrespect to anyone from the new orleans area and what they had to go through, but lets be real, if katrina didnt happen, the hornets would be on their way out of that city. they never had support even before katrina. however, stern wont allow that franchise to move after what has happened down there.

what they need to do is let the hornets move to Seattle and let the sonics have there name back and then we can have the hornets back.....good deal

I voted Bobcats. Charlotte Flight sounds like a D League squad or WNBA team. (even though we're playing like both right now) Hopefully NOH move to Seattle and like countryboi said we should take back the Hornets name. Thats really the only name that fits IMO. But I don't have a problem with Bobcats.

Bobcats is meaningless and not cool... I'd rather see it go. Hornets would be the best option, but I doubt we ever see that name again.

Flight is a pretty good name... referencing the Wright Brothers and all. The problem is how you make that logo cool... I'm wondering if you could somehow combine it with Fort Bragg stuff, since it's mostly airborne troops? Throw in some thunderbolts or flying swords or whatever?

And yet you're sporting a Bobcats logo eating Jerry West in your avatar.

Win-win. Give New Orleans a D-League team. They might be able to sell those out.

The hornets stuff is some of the best ideas. I don't think Stern will put the NBA back in Seattle without an arena.

Get rid of the name Bobcats, give us back the Hornets (preferably the whole franchise with it), and give NO a team name relevant to New Orleans.

The Hornets was our team name because of history with the revolutionary war. The battles of Charlotte were like going into a hornets nest. Shinn is officially gone now, we have a new arena, give us back our name/logo/colors. Would the people of NO even give a crap if we took the name back and they got the New Orleans _________ ?? It'd be so easy to name that team too. It's so sad when I see them take Charlotte Hornets uniforms and try to mardi gras them out and slap "New Orleans" on the front.

would they call the NO team the Jazz? and rename Utah?

If this was going to be done, it needed to be done years ago like the city of Cleveland did when they would not allow the football team to take the "Browns" name to Baltimore.

I think it is too late, this team is the Bobcats, not the Hornets

Steve Ballmer has enough money right now to buy the Hornets with straight cash and build a new arena on the moon.

That team has a legit MVP candidate, (had) a hot start, and is legit playoff team in the west - yet they still can't even get 14,000 in the arena to save the lease.

In two years, the team will either be in Seattle or Kansas City.

Stern will try to prevent that but it will happen. You can't blame an owner for wanting to move from New Orleans. A basketball team is a business venture. If you can't profit, you close shop.

Generic name for a generic team. Bobcats works.

Return to Charlotte Hornets
