ATLANTA – The Charlotte Bobcats have been gauging the trade value of various players, including co-captains Stephen Jackson and Gerald Wallace, two NBA sources confirmed Thursday.
With that as a backdrop, Bobcats management is apparently assessing its trade options. The two sources – executives with other NBA teams – spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the subject.
“It would not surprise me at all’’ if the Bobcats move one of their top players, one source said. “I will say I think they’re asking for a lot.’’
"I’d think they’re proposing different scenarios to different teams; maybe 15 or 20,’’ said one of the sources, adding that Chicago and Detroit might be two teams receptive to making a deal.
Very interesting....it's good that they're accessing all options and nobody is safe except for Tyrus.

I would love (LOVE) to get anything of value for Jax. His implosion this year has been tough to watch. His utter crappiness in the Grizz game was epic.

Seems like MJ is at least open to the "Blow it up" option and totally rebuilding. Whether it is a partial or total blow up, something major must be done. Get everything you can in young players and draft picks MJ. Get everything you can.

We really don't know what MJ is thinking other than him stating before the season started that he wanted to see us advance in the playoffs. He might just swap S-Jax/Wallace or both players for other veteran players. The article said we're asking for basically a kings ransom for those 2 so I don't know if there is a team out there willing to give up a lot. What sucks is now Gerald is hurt so that might put some bigger trades on hold.

I hope you're right ohara. It pains me to say this and perhaps I'm being too cynical but I'm still inclined to believe that someday soon we're all going to wake up to the news of a "WTF!?!?"-instant-gratification bandaid trade of Dampieresque preportions designed to get them back into playoff contention.
This is what frightens me:
"One source said it’s his impression the Bobcats are canvassing much of the league, to judge what they could do to salvage this season."
It reeks of desperation, impatience and foretells stupidity. I dont know if the word "rebuild" is even in Jordan's vocabulary. All I've seen evidence of is "patch" and "jerry-rig"

And that is a big mistake. They are attempting to please lb again eventhough these are mostly his players. All they will end up getting back are players past their primes with bad contracts. LB will not be here long enough to see the end of those contracts. Star rebuilding please.

More from Bonnell. And it definitely is not sounding like the blow up that needs to happen.

Like i said, i hope MJ isn't bending over for Larry.....he probably is right now as we speak, in his office with a santa hat on and LB's wearing them dwarf costumes.
"come on Larry DO ME"

If the trades are band aid, i'm afraid we're going to get screwed taking on LB type players past their prime, overpaid with 3-4 years remaining on their contracts.
MJ BLOW IT UP FOR F**K SAKES.

A few comments:
For it to be a rebuilding there had to be something built already. Managing to get swept in the first round of a playoff after building a team through the lottery and trades for five years is not exactly a shining result. I do agree the team needs to be blown up though. Hovering between 30-40 wins forever is no way to build a winning team. Charlotte can't lure free agents and the late lottery picks are not going to build a winner (especially with Charlotte's drafting insanity).
Thomas is only not likely to be traded because he is a BYC player. Bobcats management being "high" on his potential is a red herring. They were high on Ajinca, Morrison, etc.
MJ needs to make this team suck enough to secure a MVP talent in the lottery or manage to lure a player who is greedy enough to overlook Charlotte. The new CBA may further limit the Bobcats ability to lure a player to Charlotte with money anyway. And MJ doesn't seem like an owner that is willing to spend money.
Recall the Hornets rose to power by sucking really bad and then lucking out with Larry Johnson and Alonzo Mourning. Bobcats need to do the same thing but only draft sensibly.

Bulls fan here.
I'm wondering if you all think Stephen Jackson can really be had that cheaply? A soon to be restricted free agent and a pick (plus cap filler)?
My hope is that the Bulls will offer multiple picks (including yours back), plus any combination of players out of Brewer, Watson, Bogans, Kurt Thomas, James Johnson, Scalabrine and maybe Asik? Is something like that within the realm of possibility you think? I imagine if Jackson got kicked out of a few more games it might be by the trade deadline, but it's hard to tell what MJ and LB are after. I agree the Bobcats are best served blowing it up and rebuilding, but I'm not sure MJ knows how to give up on a season (especially this early). Thoughts?
Also, how much do you think Derrick Brown may cost to acquire. I've liked him for a good while now.

Just because we are shopping them, doesn't mean we are going to be trading them. It takes two to tango!

Our pick back along with an additional 1st and Brewer for Jax?
I'd be down.

Personally I would rather hang onto him for us. He's shown some flashes - when given the chance (which isn't nearly often enough).

Think of how deals are made. Each side begins with an extreme win for their side, while continued bargaining determines who has genuine interest in the various assets being discussed. Time and opportunity ultimately determine what gets done. For this team, there is little time to get a deal done if MJ wants to "save" this season. Other teams may not be in such a hurry.
I also hope we make no desperation deals, preferring to blow the thing up. But mostly, I don't want anything done that has LB's stain on it. That's likely to set us back even further, as it likely brings in an aged vet that costs too much (e.g. - Rip Hamilton).
As to the post from a Bulls fan, I cannot think of any combination of players plus a pick you have for Jax, though I'm certainly willing to deal the guy. Brewer is not a good shooter, and we need a 2 that can NAIL the outside shot. James Johnson could be a good backup for us but we'd need another deal for Diaw.

As suspect as they have been, how many players are there on the market that could come in via trade and provide what Jax and Crash do?

Anything that we do will smack of the old man - because you have to find very specific players that suit him as there is no way in hell he would make any adjustments himself to suit his players.

I like Brewer for his on ball D, his atheltic ability and his transition offense and defense. No doubt we would need a shooter at the 3 spot next to him though.
