Which Change Had The Greatest Effect?

We made the trade for Jax on Nov 16th 2009 and it seemed to spark our team.

We fired Brown and brought in Silas on Dec 22nd 2010 and we seem to be a new team.

Which of the two moves had the greatest effect though?

Tough to really say at this point. We have had Jax a year now and we see how he has helped us a great deal. He costs us at times, too. But overall, it has been a good thing as we need his scoring, as well as his rebounds and assists.

Silas just has not had enough time for us to take in what he is doing in total. Yes, the team is playing much better. But we have also been playing the bottom of the barrell teams during this stretch. It has helped, no doubt. But in an honest moment, I cannot say that a LB led Bobcats team would not have won these games as well.

Simply because we have seen the effects of the Jax trade longer, I have to vote the Jax deal. But at the end of this season, if Silas gets this team into the Playoffs, then I would change my vote.

I was thinking more about the instant effect ohara, not the long term results. You are right there, we don't have a large enough sample size on the Silas side of things just yet.

I was thinking of it this way - before Jax came to us we were 3 wins and 6 losses for the season. We had only put up 59pts for the entire game Vs the Celts in the season opener - we were a bit of a rabble. After he came we went on a bit of a run and went 6 and 5. It was 2 months later though in Jan things really clicked and we went 12 and 4.

When Brown was here this season we were 9 and 19, players were disinterested and not playing to their potential. Since Silas came along we have gone 5 and 2, the players look reborn and there is a freshness about them that didn't exist before - and hadn't in years.

Short term, I would say the Silas change. Effected pretty much every player on the team, and they seem to be having a good time playing. Playing better and enjoying it, I would say that makes a petty effective change. Now, see if we can keep it going against Chicago.

any of the stat nerds have any before and after silas stats that are worth sharing? i'd be curious to see some of the numbers. i know dj's numbers are much better. how does our defense and rebounding compare?

They showed a graphic last night and Jax numbers are way up too - of course DJ and Jax's numbers being up might also be contributed to Crash being out and them getting more looks?

NBA TV showed a graphic last night, too (counting yesterday's game as well). DJ was averaging 12 something a game and Jack 17 something, and under Silas it's 19 and 26.

Silas has been fantastic, but Jack and DJ are capable offensive players who were being hamstrung by LB's antiquated and rigid offensive system. Put them in positions to make plays and the results come immediately - there's no way in hell Jack should ever be hovering around 17-18 a night.

Bringing in Silas.

Jack is who he is, he'll always have a positive impact on a team especially on a mediocre one like the Cats. Like Slam pointed out, LB's team last season didn't really gel till January, 2 months later things started to click, but even then our offense was a big problem. LB had to get veterans in like Hughes, Flip, Ratliff, Graham to plug up our holes. Not to mention we had Felton and Pussyfoot.

Since Silas took over, the players are clicking right off the bat and i mean INSTANTLY. The 1st game under Silas we looked refreshed, reinvigorated and any other re words you can come up with, that sparked instant interest and hope in the team again from the fans. There was a light at the end of the dark LB tunnel. Players that wouldn't have seen the light of day playing for LB are benefitting from the new testament approach from Silas like Carroll, Henderson even Gana pre injury. I mean who would've thought Gana would look comfortable taking a jumpshot. No one is scared to take THEIR shots anymore, players are doing what THEY DO because they're allowed to. They have freedom to be themselves, just like Carroll displayed last night.

What would be MAD CRAZY is if Silas can take this team to the playoffs. I was all for tanking while we were under LB's mind control world, but under Silas i think a few tweaks to our roster, or a trade that upgrades at center, the opportunity of making the playoffs could have a honey sweet taste in my mouth again.

I'm pretty sure Raja and Vlad would flourish under Silas too, so...
