From Bobcats official Facebook page, just posted a minute ago:
http://www.facebook.com/bobcatsCharlotte Bobcats forward Tyrus Thomas will be sidelined for approximately eight weeks after a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed a tear of the lateral meniscus of the left knee. Surgery is expected in the coming days.
Bad news for us.

I'm freaking gutted over this. We REALLY need T2. Our bench is thin enough, now he is out we have pretty much no real 6th man.

It's VERY bad news. I can't imagine Najera playing significant minutes but that may be necessary. I don't think McGuire nor Brown are long-term solutions as the backup PF.
We're kind of screwed. :\

Wow this is very sad to hear. I've had to see a bunch about CP3 with his torn meniscus from last year as a Hornets fan lately, and it seems a lot more serious than just a 8 week injury and then bam you're 100% again.
Apparently CP is going to need microfracture surgery done in a couple years to fully repair his knee.
Hopefully T2 bounces back strong. I wonder what this means for the Bobcats playoff chances.

Considering the Eastern Conference, I think we'll still have a chance in April. It's a major loss but if we can beat the T-Wolves with Henderson and D Brown starting, we can stay in contention without Tyrus Thomas.

Brown is a PF in my mind. He can handle it but trading boris is out of the question now. Well, it puts rebuilding plans on hold for a year anyway, which I preferred.

Maybe Gerald Wallace takes some minutes at the 2, and GH gets more 2 minutes.

Really going to need Nazr to step up and score, much like he is doing tonight. Diaw obviously is going to have to pick up the slack too. I think McGuire is fine at the PF, and even Najera getting some minutes is fien too. I do think we should maybe try Nazr AND Brown together against bigger teams. Were really going to need someone to step up in the scoring absence of Tyrus. You would love to have Hendo be that man, but he is just not consistent enough to be counted on every night for scoring.
Not that we have much to offer, but I wonder if this spurs a trade...

Above all, it's very bad news for him as an NBA player. A meniscus tear is no joke, well, depending on the seriousness of the injury and given his style of play which relies constantly on his athleticism it could really bother him in the future. Sad. But I'm still mad at Jordan and the FO for bringing him in here when there was no real necessity. And then you had to offer him a big paycheck last summer...

Just when we are making a move to get a run into the playoffs. We must be cursed.

Don't worry, with Tyrus out MJ will be working them phones, bring on the trade scenarios.
This hurts bad, our bench is bad enough already, Nazr is good but not enough to cover for the loss of Tyrus and what he brings on the defensive end every night.

That stinks. Is Thomas injury prone? He sure has seemed to be in and out a lot this season.

IIRC, he had some knee issues in Chicago too.

I believe it's his athleticism, anyone's gonna have knee issues when they can get up like Tyrus can and doing it for 82 games.

What? Backup PF was a huge hole in the Bobcats' roster last season. Prior to trading for Tyrus the Bobcats didn't have a real backup at PF. So they went after Tyrus when they saw the opportunity.
And of course they re-signed him. You don't give up a future 1st round pick to rent a guy for 2 months.
Also, this hurts a lot. Someones gonna have to step up...
