the wallace and jackson playing awful thread
figures they deserve their own thread, you know, being our two leading scorers and our two captains.
last 7 games for jackson
13.5ppg, 4.8rpg, 2.7apg, 2.3tpg, 30.7%fg, 16.6%3pt (7 of 42)
last 15 games for wallace (not including injury)
13.7ppg, 7.8rpg, 1.9apg, 1.8tpg, 0.86spg, 1.0bpg, 38.0%fg, 30.5%3pt (11 of 36)
how can any team win games if they're two "best players" are averaging 13ppg on less than 40% from the field over an extended period? considering how bad these two have been lately, its amazing we have actually won as many games as we have.
i am starting to become disgusted with both players. i hate to question their effort and focus, but i'm really starting wonder. wallace seems preoccupied with his health/injuries and jackson seems preoccupied with his reputation as a go-to scorer.

If you honestly believe they'll continue to perform so poorly then say so, but I don't believe it to be so. Wallace's shooting can be attributed to being rusty, and Jackson is streaky as hell. Especially from three! But I think we need to give them the chance in a few more games to play well.

of course i dont expect them to perform this poorly forever. if they did, they would be in adam morrison territory, sitting on the bench. no team can survive two players taking that many shots at that low of a %.
wallace is more than just being rusty. he has lost his aggression. anyone who has been to a bobcats game live recently can tell you that all he does on offense is stands in the corner watching. you dont see it quite as much on tv as you do in person. he literally just stands in the corner like he is jj redick. he simply is not playing with the same aggression that he has in the past. he is no longer crash. i certainly cant blame him for toning down his style of play to ensure that he has a longer career, but that being said, as he is playing now, he is at best a 4th option on a good team. he cant make shot consistently and he isnt finishing at the rim or getting to the line as much. he is just average dude out there now. he might as well be ronnie brewer or corey brewer or richard pryor from brewster's millions.
as for jackson, sure he is about as inconsistent as any player i have ever watched, but even for him, this is a really really deep slump the likes of which we have not seen yet in charlotte. this is by far his worst stretch of basketball for us.

The most shocking stats listed in the OP is that Crash is averaging almost 8 boards a game.
Really? When the hell is he getting them? When I'm not looking? Because it sure as sh*t doesn't feel like he has been pulling down almost 8 boards a game.

That's a mental thing. I think he needs to spend some time with Oakley.

He was a baseball player in Brewsters millions. I think Crash will perform better. On offense yeah he's a little less aggressive but you can tell on defense that he can still do it all. He's just reluctant to.

Yeah but we've had him for about 1 year now. WIth Crash having been gone, going through a coaching change, more trade rumors about himself... I think Jax resents the idea of being traded out of charlotte. He seems to like it here, and like our young guys.

The 15 board game is pulling that stat up.

It was 16.

No it doesn't does it. His effort on the boards isn't there anymore, it's become obvious that his work rate has dropped off immensely this season. Whether or not it's related to nagging, lingering injuires i'm not sure, but he's still clocking in around 40 mins per game.
Wallace's shooting can be attributed to being rusty
Wallace has never been a shooter, it's not about him being in a funk. He's shooting a low % from the field because he's shooting from 16- 23 ft now more than ever. Not his game.
Check out his shot locations: http://www.hoopdata.com/player.aspx?name=Gerald%20Wallace

How long can we blame his play on the "rust", Hendo wasn't getting a pass when he came back rusty and he was only coming off the bench.

They are sucking hard. Wallace thinks he's Glen Rice for some reason and Jax should be playing SF IMO.

Re: the wallace and jackson playing awful thread
we all knew there would come a time when the playing style/injuries would catch up with wallace and he would lose some of his effectiveness. i was hoping that a) we could get another year or two of him at all-star lever and b) that in the meantime he would work on other parts of his game to supplement the loss of athleticism.
wallace seems like he would now be ideal playing for a playoff team in a role where he can play 25 minutes per night in his usual all out style in a complimentary role rather than having to carry a team for 40+ minutes a night. on a good team wallace could pick his spots, take longer to get healthy when injured and play less minutes, essentially saving himself for playoffs. in charlotte he has always had to play 40+ and be the focal point of the team.
one telling stat for wallace is his fg attempts at the rim. for the previous 4 years his at rim fg attempts has been between 7-8 per game. this year he is closer to 4.

Re: the wallace and jackson playing awful thread
I usually don't get worried about "slumps," but these two are starting to worry me -- Wallace especially. Jackson is playing pretty much how he normally does, he just seems to be missing a lot more shots. Wallace, on the other hand, seems to be like a different player. I hope this is just an extended funk due to his injuries rather than his career taking a turn for the worst.

Jackson is (perhaps subconciously) trying to play his way off the team. I've seen it before. It doesn't end well.

Re: the wallace and jackson playing awful thread
heh. I liked watching G. Henderson the other day. I saw him take down Philly when he kept nailing elbow jumpers using offball screens. nice.
About Jax - it's true that I don't like him. But I really believe what I'm saying... I think the Cats are running out of time to get him out of there. I don't want you to be stuck with him when it gets ugly.
But I guess my message has been received.
I'll talk about something else.
Hey, I'll be at the Warriors/Bobcats game this Friday. I'll be the guy in the Vladimir Radmanovic jersey. I mean, the one who isn't actually Vladimir Radmanovic. I hope he frustrates the hell out of Jax.

When he stops claiming to like it there is when it's too late to get fair value for him.

What do you consider fair value?
