I didn't stay up last night to watch the loss vs Nets, so I was pretty frustrated after finding out that once again the Cats have lost to another Eastern team fighting for the playoffs (although Jersey probably won't make it) after that heartbreaking loss to Indiana. Especially because the game was at home. They have played decent basketball after Silas took over, decent enough to make the playoffs in the East, however these losses in important games are getting on my nerves. A win vs the Bucks, Pacers or whoever else around that 8th spot is twice more worth than a stunning win over the Celtics.

The Good:

Cats have a record of 9-11 vs West. Better than the Knicks, Pacers, Bucks, Pistons etc. Basically only Philly has been better against the Western conference from the teams that occupy spots from 6 to 15th in the conference.

Bobcats are 2-0 against the Bulls. Only other team in the conference that hasn't lost to Chicago is New York. Too bad that we won't play against them in the playoffs (if we even make it that far). (Yeah this trivia sucks. Well it's hard to find something good about the Charlotte Bobcats)

The Bad:

As I already stated and you already know - we haven't won **** in games that matter for our playoff run. Hawks 0-2, Magic 0-1, Knicks 0-2, Sixers 1-2 (thanks DJ), Pacers 0-3, Bucks 0-2. That's a record of 1-12 (I also added Hawks (pretty winnable team) and the Magic to prove my point even more). Detroit still is a contender for that 8th spot, well sort of, and at least the Cats have won 2 out of 3 vs them (thank god the Cats have a winning record vs everybody below Pistons in the standings also).

Also you can't make the playoffs playing so bad in front of your own crowd. Bobcats are 13-14 in the Time Warner Cable Arena. That's the 3rd worst record in East and the 5th worst record in the whole league. You don't mean **** if only Sacramento, Minnesota, Toronto and Cleveland is playing worse.

Y'all probably knew this, however I felt like I wanted to compile all of these stats in one thread. It frustrates me that the team has had some flashes of a 7th, 8th seed, there have been some beautiful games and performances by some players. However some of these losses will hold us back and keep Charlotte out of the playoffs in the end of the season.

you are right on the money lamar. i was ranting about the same thing in the pacers thread when i looked up the 1-12 record vs teams in the 4-10 playoff spots. that is totally pathetic. there is no way you can be THAT bad against your direct competition and still have a chance to make the playoffs.

13-14 at home? that also pathetic. where is the home court advantage? its been the same trend all season at home. the team comes out with zero fire in the 1st quarter and again in the 3rd quarter.

maybe the starting lineup needs a little change, something to wake them up and make them realize that starting spots are guaranteed.

another pathetic stat i pointed out last week was the 3-12 record on the 2nd night of back to back games. of course, these are the most difficult games in basketball, but 3-12 is still far worse than a playoff level team should have.

its really disappointing that both coaches and both captains have had to yell at this team and beg them to play with effort (although the captains have, at times, been the ones guilty of not playing with effort). last night vs the nets augustin, boris, nazr and kwame did not bring the effort needed to win. dj was just awful last night. once again he looks incapable or unwilling to show any defensive effort. nazr was half asleep, same as he has been all season. and boris was boris.

at the end of the season when we are sitting at home watching the playoffs i think the players will look back at the games vs the nets and pacers this week as the week they allowed the playoffs to slip away.

Lamar and Fats, you are both right. I think the unknown here is, when we talk about the players sitting back and watching the Playoffs, which of our current players will no longer be a Bobcat? Because I sure dont see this team staying in place past the trade deadline. It would shock me.

Fats I'm sorry to say that you and Lamar are right. We are not going to make the playoffs so its time to start dumping some players that should help us build in the future.
1. Jax-Trade him to Dallas for a 1st and Carron's expiring-go after free agent in off season to replace him or just save money..His attitude on and off the court is only going to get worse as we lose more games. Start Hendo and have MJ work daily with him on his shooting
2.Diaw-too inconsistent to start. trade him by deadline with fillers for an expiring veteran power forward like Troy Murphy and draft pick from nets when Melo goes to Knicks. Use Dmac for boards rest of the season at 3 and 4
3.Wallace- offer same deal as #2 if nets don't want Diaw- otherwise keep him and hope he doesn't crash and burn next year
4. D.J--Keep him
5.Kuwamee--Keep him
6.D brown keep him to backup TT who starts next year
7.Nazr expiring-Replace in off season
8. Livingston keep as backup point hes earned an extension

Pray we do well in 2011 draft.

Why does everyone keep saying MJ should coach the players himself and stuff? I mean, is that really realistic? Besides, plenty of guys out there are probably better coaches. Just because a guy is extremely skilled, doesn't mean he's a good coach, you know?
