basically they are fighting for a playoff berth out west, they lost rudy gay for at least a month, maybe rest of regular season.

their idea is
OJ Mayo
Hasheem Thabeet
Demarre Carrol or Xavier Henry (salary filler)

for

Stephen Jackson

I would do the trade. Memphis must be really souring on Mayo though...this is basically two top 5 picks for Stephen Jackson

OJ Mayo
Hasheem Thabeet
Xavier Henry

for

Stephen Jackson

Only if the Grizzlies added 3 unprotected 1sts as well.

Just kidding.

Although the offer doesn't work $$$$ wise or roster spot wise.

It would have to be something like:

OJ
Thabeet
Xavier

for

Jax
Tank
UPS

You had me there! I did not scroll down for a few seconds and was wondering what in the world you were thinking. But you are right on.

We want a young talent and they want a veteran scorer. This trade makes sense. If only realistically it can happen in the next few days.

Well the time isn't really an issue. I'm sure they've discussed this in the past. So now with Gay out they might be trying for it. Wallace would make more sense right now, but one Gay is back Wallace and Gay would be in confused mans land. Gay could maybe play some 2, Wallace could maybe come off the bench, who knows.

If we do this trade would would be stacked at SG. Mayo, Henderson, Henry, Carroll. I say if that trade was made it should be Diaw, Henry, and Mohammed to who ever for a center.

Thabeet is a Center. He could back up Kwame until we find a better option. Honestly I'm find with Kwame as a starter. You don't need to be stacked at every position to be a good team, and Center is hardest to get stacked at.

quote - Slam

"I like the idea of a future line up that features:

DJ - Hendo - Xavier - T2 and a yet to be named low post, back to the basket scoring C

Xavier's shooting would be a great addition to the line up and a compliment to Hendo's abilities"

- me - Am I think only one that thinks Hendo could play backup 3? He's only 6'5" but he's pretty strong. He has time to get stronger, too.

Is Thabeet any good? I get him confused with Hibbert.

^ Thabeet has been terrible so far. However, he was still the second overall pick and has potential as a shot blocking rebounding force. I still think in the right situation, he can become a servicable center. In his defense, he really hasnt had an opporunity thus far. It should be clear now that Mayo isnt the next Wade/Kobe as he was billed coming out of HS. That said, he is still a very good young 2 guard.

If Memphis was receptive to such a deal where Jax and change produced Thabeet and Mayo, it would be a no-brainer for Charlotte.

I'd do that deal even if we dealt Wallace to Houston as discussed on the other thread. We'd have three young 2 guards but it would be a good problem to have.

DJ
Mayo/Twill/Hendo (with the idea of showcasing them all and then dealing one of the three come offseason, perhaps to move up in the draft)
Twill / Mcguire
Hill / Najara / Tyrus (injured)
Kwame / Thabeet

I don't think we would need to trade crash if we get mayo, if we get mayo and thabeet, we would have the equivallent of two more lotto picks added to our roster. at that point we wouldn't need to "blow it up" if we want to stay competitive, i rather have a balanced squad of youth and veterans then just straight youth and suck for 5 years until they get too old, and cap out as a low seed then we would need to blow it up again.

Thabeet is one inch taller and less skilled in every aspect. But he does have potential.

Now THIS is a blow it up team. We wouldn't make the playoffs, but if the FO has given up on the playoffs this would be a niiiice consolation prize for Jax and Crash (who we undervalue as a board).

I think you should treat Thabeet a bit like Kwame, in that you should ignore when he was drafted and see if you can mould him into a role player.

If he could develop into a solid rebounder, shotblocker I would be happy.

If he somehow develops some offense I would be stoked.

Darko is probably another good example, was drafted 2nd and therefore had that big expectation over him that almost pushed him out of the league. But now a team has found a role for him and he is servicable.

You know what? That's not a bad idea. I think Oakley has a touch for bigs though. I hope he stays here and we can develop a long legacy of skilled bigs.
