When will Jax demand a trade?

Post#1 » by Felton for Pres » Fri Feb 25, 2011 2:52 pm

Not sure if this is implied anywhere else, I'm too late to the game, but does anyone really think Jax wants to be part of a rebuild? Look at what he did in GS, why wouldn't he pull the same stuff here? Yes, he's "the man" and maybe that can keep him happy but I fear some major acting out soon.

Why don't we wait to see what he actually says before making him look like an ****?

He'll be gone before his contract expires. Some team looking for scoring in the stretch run will trade for him at the deadline next year, and hopefully we can get prospects/picks from them.

I think Jax will be fine simply because he will be able to be the man. The problem in GS was that Nelson was taking away his minutes and letting the offense run with others. Silas wants Jax to sore 30 a game and he will be able to do that now. Plus noe he can go back to guarding SF's which he is much better doing. i personally expect Capt Jack to blow up and put up HUGE numbers now

Really? Since when do we wait around without making an opinion one way or another? We make projections about games, project draft picks, project season stats based on expectations, heck people are even projecting when he'll get his 16th tech.

His past history makes this a very relevant question. He's acted like an a** is the past so its a logical initial view that he would do it again.

I agree, it might differ this time because he'll be the sole go to guy. That's why I asked the question, to see what others think "might" happen.

If we can trade Crash on a prediction that he'll drop off dramatically then why can't we predict that Jack will turn into a malcontent?

I'm quite the opposite. Now that Gerald is gone, Stephen will have the opportunity to take more shots. That will make him happy. If anything, Jackson should be gleaming like a diamond by the end of the season.

I think Jackson cares more about winning than being "the man."

Projecting whether a draft pick will be any good is different from predicting how big of an **** someone will be.

Maybe if you waited more than 24 hours after the Wallace trade you'd see his own quotes on the subject which indicate he is ready to mentor Hendo. But nah, let's just both insult the man's character when he's been nothing but good to the team off the court and in the locker room. The techs are obviously a different story.

:D :o Jax and TT and DJ are our core now. Hendo needs to give us 20-10 for us to make playoffs and Kuwamee needs 10-8 every night. I understand that Dbrown/ Dmac/Collins were waived when we brought in all these contracts. Carroll and Mo Pete will have to step up as well as the two young players we got. I guess Prezbella will backup KB? Our 3 point shooting is going to need to pickup bench scoring.
We should win tonight? beyond that who knows? Diaw needs to step up big until TT gets back!

Jax is a veteran who knows that he will be traded sometime next year probably to a contender which will give him a shot at a ring. He won't be a problem or demand anything. He is our Captain now.

I am still waiting to hear just what 2 draft picks and what years we got from Portland?

Are you saying Hendo should get ten boards? I don't think that will happen. Jax will increase his boarding a bit at SF since he'll be defending more in the midrange/post area, which will help. Thomas coming back will help immensely. He's a better rebounder than given credit for, mostly because it's less interesting than his shot blocking, dunks, and mistakes.

Another guy to look for is DJ. He can rebound the ball decently for a point, when he tries for it. I'd like to see him get closer to 5 a game. We've also upgraded our backup PF staff with guys who should at least be trying to rebound, so that'll help more than just going small with Diaw all the time.

Sigh...

This year's Hornets pick, top 7 protected.

Next years Blazers pick, lottery protected in various ways for a couple years.

It's not next year's Blazers pick, it's 2013. That pick could be somewhat valuable in that draft, which could be especially stacked if next year is locked out.

Oh. I knew it was 2013, I didn't know that 2013 wasn't next year. :o

I feel dumb.

So when we look at draft picks discussions about character and dicipline issues are never discussed? Think about Demarcus Cousins. The big concern was his character, not his play. Cam Newton is current NFL example. Projecting how someone will handle issues in the future happens all the time. I hope Jax takes the high road, I really do. His past implies that won't be the case if the team is stinking up the joint.

There is a difference here. We didn't know Cousins. We know Jax. Not to mention that "general character flaws" are a lot easier to claim. By saying that Jax will leave you're creating a self fulfilling prophecy. You're showing that the city doesn't trust him, and wants to ship him out before he decides to leave. That's the last thing a guy like Jax probably wants to see right now, especially since he and his wife were divorced just this past year. It hasn't even been 24 hours. Give him a break.

I can't imagine Jack is any less frustrated than he was as a Warrior, but there's one major component in play that changes the situation (or at least how he reacts to it publicly): MJ.

MJ has probably talked to him, and even if not, Jack's reverence for the guy keeps him from questioning the Bobcats front office in the same manner he did the Warriors. For the time being, he'll probably keep quiet and try to get the squad in the playoffs. Maybe Jack will view it as a challenge and not capitulation?

There is a difference here. We didn't know Cousins.
