This can be the official "Welcome Joel Przybilla Thread."
Joel will be a beast under the basket coming in for Kwame. Looking forward to giving him some minutes and working with Oakley and MJ on making his game even better.

Making his game even better?
I'm pretty sure that at this stage of his career Przybilla has maxed out his potential.
P.S. Welcome to the board MrMorrow.

Earlier in the year I'd consider him and Kwame equals. So who knows what he can do, really? Here's hoping.

He will defiantly help. We don't really want Kwame playing 45 minutes every game, haha. Plus Pryz can provide us with some much needed rebounding since apparently Diaw is incapable. I'm guessing that he IS going to play for us then? He's got almost NO offensive ability, but we need his size and rebounding. Looking forward to see him along with White and Cunningham.

What's the coolest name, Joel Przybilla or Primoz Brezec ?
I like Przybilla a lot, but to me Primoz might be the best first name ever.

http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/index ... trail.htmlWelcome. Happy to have Joel here (for now), but I wouldn't get too excited. I've always liked his post D, but surgically repaired knee and talking immediate buyout or retirement?
We'll be lucky to get much out of him. IF he sticks it out for the remainder of the year, he'll be a good defensive stopgap for short spurts when our starters are out and the opposing team has a traditional center in the game...that's about it.

Primoz is classic. Coolest Bobcats/Hornets names? If we're doing names and not nick names, I've got to go with Muggsy Bogues. Sounds like a 1920's Chicago gangster in some pulp fiction novel.

Pryz is going to play for the Bobcats and will not request a buy-out or retire. Whether his knee is healthy enough to allow him to play is the issue, but I anticipate him playing in Orlando. We will need him for sure.

Welcome to Tabacco Road, Mr Pryzbilla(hope you passed the physical)?. I know you are not happy about the move with your family in Portland, but look at it as short term rental and end this year by helping us get the 8th seed and build your value as a free agent. We need a big that fills up the lane to play as a backup with Kuwamee down the stretch. If we can pickup Dbrown back off waivers our second unit will not lose a step and when TT comes back we can play Diaw at the 3 to rest Jax for 4th Qtr finishs. This just might work! If not and we tank our 2011 1st round draft pick gets better and we still have 23 million over the next two years to invest in free agents after collective bargaining/lockout is done....Lineup:
DJ--Livingston
Hendo--Carroll
Jax---Dbrown--Cunningham
Diaw--TT(ir)--White--Najera
Kbrown-Pryzbilla-Diop (ir)
With the eastern conference full of super stars in Boston, NYK,Miami, Orlando, and Chicago even if GW had stayed we can't hope for more than 7th/8th seed anyway in 2011 or 2012.
MJ/RH I think you made the right move. Good Job!

i have a feeling that once pryz meets with MJ he will change his tune. what player would not want to spend a few months working with the greatest player ever. just to say that you practiced against MJ would be reason enough for pryz to stick around and play for a few months. he can resign with portland in the summer.
all that being said, maybe trading away nazr for dj white wasnt the best of ideas.

Yeah. I still think that if we had MoPete and he could fill that SF vacancy he could produce to make that trade worthwhile. But now that we know MoPete is gone, i'm not so sure i like it. I must say though, seems like White coudl fit in really nicely. Who knows, maybe White can produce exactly what Nazr was in 20 minutes. I mean i'm not so sure he can't. 7 points from White isn't exactly out of the question I wouldn't think. Only time will tell though. I really like what I have read about DJ White, so hopefully he can put on the court what people have been saying about him. As a rookie DJ only played in 7 games but averaged 18 minutes and scored 9 ppg. I think he has the potential to produce what Nazr was.
Anyway. Back on topic. I agree with you about Pryz. I get the feeling he is a competitor. We are a team that needs his services, a team fighting for the playoffs, and an owner who is the best player in basketball history. I think Pryz will come and be an important part of any playoff chase.

One thing I always loved about Joel was he never took crap from anyone. He'd be the first to stick up for his teammates. I know it's not as important as the status of his knees, but he is a leader.

Yep, much like Najera. Both are guys that you would LOVE to have on your team even if they aren't producing.

I have to say that I am very surprised that a buyout won't be requested. Joel made it sound like he was pretty sure he would be back in Portland when he was at the airport leaving last night. I hope we get him back sometime, although not necessarily because he is all that great of a player anymore. More because he is a fan favorite and, as was mentioned above, he is a warrior who doesn't take crap from anyone. He has gotten into more than a few scuffles with Shaq in his day.

Let's just pretend he died, or wasn't in the trade.

Make no mistake, Joel Przybilla was producing, he just didn't look like himself is all. You could take away both of Joel's legs and he'd still find a way to contribute.
