How I would fix the Bobcats

First lemme preface my comments by saying that I have no idea if my ideas work $ wise, these are merely hypotheticals that I've been thinking about. Secondly, I realize that no one asked, nor cares what I would do to fix the cats, thus any criticism is understood, I just ask that it be geared towards my ideas and why they're wrong, and not my overall lack of IQ, poor hygiene, or improper upbringing. :D That being said, here's my ideas:

1. Resign Livingston
2. Trade DA, Hendo and # 19 to Celtics for Rondo, # 25 and #50.
3. Trade Diaw and Jax to Atlanta for JSmoove
4. Draft one of Burks, Fredette or Brooks with #9
5. Sign DeAndre Jordan
6. Draft one of Vucevic, Tyler or Benson with #25
7. Sign Al Thornton

I respect you guys too much to give you the how and why, since those are so subjective to begin with. I'll lay out the theoretical new lineup, and you can decide the good, bad and ugly. Thanks for your time, and I will now put on my flame retardant suit. :)

PG: Rondo, Livingston
SG: Burks, Livingston, Matt Carroll
SF: Josh Smith, Al Thornton
PF: Tyrus Thomas, Cunningham, White
C: DeAndre Jordan, , Vucevic(or Tyler, or Benson) Diop

Boston wouldn't ever do that trade

Atlanta might, but they'd have to think long and hard about it

DeAndre would be fantastic, but will be hugely overpaid

1. Livingston is already under contract.
2. See SWeed above.
3. Atlanta would never do that.
4. I would be ok with Burks at #9 but not the other two.
5. Why? He is far too milited and will command way too much money.
6. I like the idea of Vucevic and Tyler at #19 - not so much Benson though.
7. Not sure he would give us any more than Dante currently does - and Dante is much cheaper?

As for your line up?
Teams would clogg the paint against us beacuse there is no outside shooting on that roster (apart from Hammer).

watching a frontcourt of Smith/Tyrus/Jordan play would be hilarious, but yet dreadful

Larry Brown would beg to come back if we had that front court.

I just hope the cats don't sign kwame to a bad contract. Silas has been pumping this guy up. Kwame is been known to play well in a conract year.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"It's on our agenda to get him back," Silas said. "Kwame is going to be unbelievable this year, once I have a chance to work with him."

Rondo is a great pg when he is surrounded by shooters. Too bad you gave him practically none. Burks at 9 is a horrible reach, he is not lotto talent at all.

gotta agree with brotherdave, if you have rondo you have to give him shooters. defensively the team would be nasty, but that team would be brutal in halfcourt with every team playing with 5 defenders with foot in the lane.

Believe me, Rondo here would be ultimate disaster, since we're a poor shooting team as is. I wouldn't give DJ up either.

Are you serious? Burks is 6'5 3/4 in socks, can handle the ball, plays three positions, and can create for himself and teammates. Just because you don't like him doesn't make his game lottery unworthy. That just means you really don't understand the game. The biggest flaw to Alec's game is the one any gm will tell you is the easiest to fix. His shooting will improve especially on a team like the Bobcats where no one will expect him to step in and lead the team in scoring. Both Mike and Kobe were questionable shooters coming into the league. Where did they both excel? Creating their own shots and getting to the rim. Where does Burks excel? Creating his own shots and getting to the rim.

Boston would NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVERRRR do that trade.

I doubt ATL would either. I mean do they need a player like Jax when they have Joe Johnson and they are paying him max money?? Also Diaw would be a downgrade compared to Josh Smith.

Deandre Jordan is just a huge tease.

1. Resign Livingston- Shaun is cool, but he has lost all of the athleticism he once had an his shooting is mediocre at best. I see him as a third point guard not the primary back up.

2. Trade DA, Hendo and # 19 to Celtics for Rondo, # 25 and #50. -Both teams woul reject this trade. Boston is not moving Rondo, and I am sure that Charlotte would consider this trade a down grade. Rondo is fool's gold. Keep in mind that he is playing off three future first ballot hall of famers. Hendo and 19 are easily more valuable than the 25 and the 50.

3. Trade Diaw and Jax to Atlanta for JSmoove- This trade is just pure fantasy. No way Atlanta parts with their most popular player outside of a homerun scenario.

4. Draft one of Burks, Fredette or Brooks with #9- Remove Fredette down to 19 and I am down.

5. Sign DeAndre Jordan- On the fense with this one.

6. Draft one of Vucevic, Tyler or Benson with #25- No way Vucevic or Honeycutt falls that far. We also should not have any problem getting Benson at 39.

7. Sign Al Thornton- We do not need to be signing roll players right now. Keep the roll players we have now, build through the draft, and save our capspace as long as it takes to obtain a star.

This is my attempt at fixing the bobcats. Going full rebuild mode.

Trade 1
Stephen Jackson
Tyrus Thomas
Eddie Najera

for

Vince Carter
Robin Lopez
#13

Reasons: Bobcats need to clear salary and TT and Jack are 2 of our biggest contracts. TT is nice but he is not worth the salary he earns or at least will not be. Thomas in my opinion is a first big man of the bench but is getting paid starters money. You could swap TT for Diaw in this trade but I think we need to clear as much salary as possible. In return we get either a contract to buy out or a player that at least has some marketing value for a year until he expires. And realistically if we are not making the playoffs what is the big downside of going from Jack to Vince. Vince is more marketable has a shorter contract and maybe we would loose more games and get a better pick.

Robin is a solid energy backup big. He had a down year but so did the rest of the Suns. Lopez is a solid guy to have at backup C. He at least trys hard on defense and can finish on offense and block some shots. Good enough for backup C. #13 is a solid asset to have.

Draft night in my perfect world would then go like this 1. Irwing 2. Williams 3. Kenter 4. Valanciunas 5. Knight 6. Vesely 7. Kawhi Leonard 8. Tristan Thompson 9. Kemba Walker 10. Alec Burks 11. Twin#1 12. Fredette 13. Bismack Biyombo 14-16 T. Harris, Klay Thompson, C.Singelton, Twin#2, Jordan Hamilton(in no order) 19. Dontas Motiejunas ... 35. Shelvin Mack

I know most of the players are bound to go before our picks. But as I said it's my dream draft :) Kemba is in my opinio a star in the NBA and a legitimate starting PG, which I don't see in DJ. Kemba gives us a star player and somebody who can come in and be a face of our franchise, something we don't have now. He is going to be a 20 ppg type of scorer in the NBA. Worst case Brandon Jennings.

Biyombo gives us a defensive big men every team needs. His movement and speed for his size are top notch and his personality gives me belief that he will be one of the top defenders in this league. He is a bit small for some centres but theres only like 6 really big and skilled enough to give him trouble. At #13 he is exceptional value.

Dontas is a skilled 7' who would compliment skills of Biyombo perfectly. he is a role player in my opinion but a solid one at that. Skilled seven footers are hard to come by. He in my eyes is a between Pau Gasol and Nenad Krstic.

Shelvin Mack is a solid talet for a 2nd round. Gives us some outside shooting this team needs. And a solid combo guard of the bench.

Trade #2

Dj Augustin

for

Nicolas Batum

Blazers want Kemba, but DJ is a nice consolation prize for them. DJ is sortof redundant with Kemba coming in so he goes. Batum gives us another piece of the puzzle and is behind Wallace on Blazers bench. He can be a good defender and a solid shooter. He could be a starter on a contender right now and will only get better.

Our team in 2011/2012
Kemba Walker/Livingston/Mack
Henderson/Vince/Carrol
Batum/Vince/Chuningham
Diaw/Dontas/DJW
Biyombo/Lopez/Diop

Then let Vince and Diaw expire. This team is bad enough to get another top 9 pick. Next years draft will be deeper at the top and we could get someone like Sullinger plus another guy with the Portland pick. Long term team of Walker Henderson Batum Sullinger and Biyombo, with Dontas, Lopez, Mack and some solid shooters from Portland pick or FA of the bench has everything outside shooting, penetrators, mid range game and post offense and enough defensive minded guys to play above average defense. A contender in my mind

Burks is a good player, for Colorado. A crappy basketball school in an average basketball conference. IMO obviously.
