Jazz: The jazz came into this draft with a need to get a shooting guard who could score (and overall a guy to be their top scorer) and for a fix at C or PF that would push the slothful Al Jefferson for minuetes or even allow them to trade him (especially with the young talent they have waiting behind him) and they got exactly those 2 thngs in first drafting Alec Burks who could one day be a 20ppg scorer (relatively soon too) and Enes Kanter (a guy I like) who could easily press Al Jefferson for minuetes or start over Paul Millsap at PF.

Spurs: The spurs came in to this years draft with no real "objective" or major need besides a future replacement for Duncan (who wasnt present in this years draft) and an upgrade at SF. They got one of the two in grabbing Kawhi Leonard from the pacers in the george hill trade.

Pistons: Unexpectedly got Brandon Knight....

Bobcats: The bobcats set out to get a guy who could crash the boards, present a new future for the team, and a guy who could nail 3's... We got all of em. Bismack Biyombo could be the next Ibaka (or even better) and managed to grab Kemba Walker at #9, while kemba is the same type of player as DJ is he is able to get off his shot a tad faster and stil brings the range the charlotte lolcats wanted.

LOOSERS

Timberwolves: yes they got Derrick Williams and Marshon Brooks but they really didnt fix their problem.... ie their coach sucks...

Kings: Only time will tell whether the Jimmer pick was justified but for now it isnt....

Suns: They picked the WRONG brother and the WRONG player....

Warriors: They grabbed more of what they already had, scorers.....

Hornets: Got NOTHING to entice Paul that they are moving to be a championship team....

I agree with all of your winners and the reasons you gave.

Don't agree with your losers though.

T-Wolves did fine. While I think they should have gone with Kanter Williams could be considered the BPA at #2.

I like Jimmer on the Kings. I think he is a great match next to Tyreke and will rack up points just waiting for Cousins to hit him out of the double team.

Either Morris is a good fit next to Gortat/Lopez - but Markieff brings some grit with him as well. I like that pick.

Klay is an awesomefit for the Warriors. Much better next to Curry than Ellis and I like the chance they took on Tyler.

Hornets had nothing to begin with, can't fault them.

The real losers were the Rockets IMO. WTF were they thinking? Twin #1 when they already have Scola and Patterson? And then they go and trade for Monti as well? Not only that, but in that trade they bring in Flynn when they already have Lowry and Dragic AND gave up the farm to get him (numerous picks)?

I think the Rockets are a mess. The only good thing about them is that hopefully we can pry T.Will away from them now because they are over loaded at so many positions!!

Personally, I feel that we were one of the losers in this draft.

The trade - It wasn't a terrible trade but it wasn't great either. There were players at 19 that would have helped us as much as either Kemba/BB (assuming we don't trade up and can only draft one). Maggette is paid more than Jackson and won't contribute at the same level. I just think that Kemba/BB + Hamilton + Jenkins/Tyler would have been as effective as Kemba and BB. Plus, we could have retained Jackson for that veteran leadership/tutelage.

The picks - In a few years, the BB pick will be a stroke of genius or another miscalculation. With Kemba, I personally believe that better players were available (Jenkins, Cole). The biggest issue is that the team announced a plan to "acquire assets" but instead of purchasing several safe stocks, we invested in two high risk stocks. Selling the Tyler pick was disappointing because we can't develop assets if we sell them away for cash. The Spurs developed George Hill as one asset and used him to acquire three assets. That should have been our philosophy.

The Kings also lose because they trade back three positions to pick up huge salary in Salmons. Sure, they may need salary to meet the minimum number but there are expiring contract guys available (Diaw) that they could trade for. When it comes time to resign Thornton, having Salmons may hurt them.

I thought the Warriors had the best draft. Jenkins could be the next "one that got away", Tyler has a chance to develop into a quality player, and Thompson is a great shooter. If anything, you could say that they acquired three first-round talents the other night without giving up first-round assets or paying first-round money. If Klay and/or Jenkins show starting potential, it makes Ellis expendable.

The Portland Trailblazers also won. They flipped a role player (Rudy) for two picks (here we go with asset developing again). One was combined with an aging Andre Miller to acquire Felton, who could be their long-term PG solution.
