The Corey Maggette Thread

Just wondering if you guys actually wanted him to produce or if you'd essentially trade him away for an expiring contract to rebuild?

If you're looking to get rid of his 2yrs/20million... what about James Posey(expiring) and Dahntay Jones? Maybe throw in A.J. Price if you wanted him.

of course we'd do that. The goal is to clear these types of contracts off the cap as soon as possible so we can build through the draft and FA. Mag could certainly help a team out who needs a guy that can score off the bench or as a 3rd option. So a brink playoff team could go deeper with a guy like him in there.

For us, he just helps us suck a tad bit less, which in a way hurts us.

yes, but why would the Pacers do that?

They probably wouldn't with the current state of the roster. If they made some moves where they could actually use him as the first SG/SF off the bench, they might do it. They squeaked into the playoffs and put on a solid showing against the Bulls. At some people you have to trade quantity for quality. They have a lot of average/below average players coming off the bench and they can't all be on the floor. Instead of taking turns putting one guy on the court that can shoot/can't pass and then subbing him for another guy that can pass/can't shoot, you might as well get one player that can do both. Trim some fat and tone up the roster a bit.

I was really just messing around and seeing what moves the Pacers could make and how I'd go about building the team. It makes it more fun when you have realistic input from the fans of the other team. I wasn't sure what use you guys had for him and what kind of offer you guys would accept.

Anyways... I'll post the link to my little game for anyone that cares. I'm sure most won't :D

RealGM: Indiana Pacers - What moves would you make?

I'd do it for Posey. Posey is a champ and a good locker room vet, he could teach our youngsters some poise, which is always good. Don't care about Dahntay jones, we already have guys I've never heard of (just kidding).

I like this trade if Boris Diaw is staying on the roster. James Posey won't play much if any, but is a good veteran locker room presence and Dahntay Jones is a solid defender if not much else. A.J. Price would probably be the most valuable of this acquisition on the basketball court as a backup PG if the Bobcats front office is able to swap D.J. Augustin for a quality big man (Jason Thompson - Kings).

Trading Maggette for two defenders takes us from 85 points a night to 70.

Bobcats--Doin' it for da lulz

The only way Corey Maggette helps a team is by tanking them to lottery picks.

I would even send him as team representative tzo draft lottery. for the lulz. That way he could help us even more (in theory, it really depends on what Stern decides to do).

This trade was a great trade and we don't lose much scoring in Magette who is 16.5 pts per game carreer.
Kemba Walker will make up Jax's point difference at the backup point over Livingston. Trading Diaw in
2012 and Magette in 2013 to contenders will produce additional draft picks and free up cap room to sign big name free agents like CP3 or maybe Howard. 2013 or 2014 should be the best season the Bobcats ever have since the franchise started. BB was a reach but might be the Bobcats draft best pick ever.

Corey Magette to Utah for Mehmet Okur.

I would rather keep Maggette. He's the only thing keeping us from averaging 70ppg a game next season.

Golden State scraps have worked out for us in the past and I expect no less from Corey.

They have Burks and Hayward - no need for Mags.

Seriously CP3 & D12 are not going to happen.

Why the hate? What Maggette has done to earn it? Yes, he is ballwhore, who likes to shoot instead of sharing the ball, but the is proven scorer. He put 25 and 19 points playing for GSW against Charlotte on season 2009-2010.

Give him chance

:) :) We need to keep Magette and sign Dante Cunningham to back him up the next 2-3 years before July 1st. Also need to sign Kuwamee to 2-3 year contract before July 1st.
