Garrett Temple is signing a one-year deal with Casale out of Northern Italy. The deal is for one season and does not have an out clause should the NBA resolve its lockout.

Temple's agent, John Hamilton, told the Observer today that Temple is signing with Casale, a team in Northern Italy.

"We were not actually pursuing overseas, because we felt he had such a good situation in Charlotte,'' Hamilton said. "But this will let him really focus on what he needs to do to be a rotation play, and that's play steady point guard.

"Obviously the lockout was another element'' in the decision. "We would not be doing it otherwise. But this was the right opportunity, given the lockout."

Temple was a free agent, but had been part of the Bobcats' offseason workouts.

Enjoy, Temple. Didn't have a future in the NBA anyway, not as a PG.

Not really surprised. This will give him a guaranteed year of being on a team (no guarantee he would return for us) and he can stay in Europe long-term or come back to the States next Summer. Imo, he is an NBA caliber bench player so he won't have any problems finding a job when/if he returns.

Doesn't really affect us. If there's one thing we've done well over the years, it's finding a third-string PG. I would expect us to grab a cheap veteran to teach Walker. Maybe someone like Jamaal Tinsley?

Good for him.

Whether he's good enough to play for us I'm glad he has gainful employment.
