The "Looking At Bigger Markets" Dilemma

Brandon Jennings getting starry eyed:
I will be so glad when every big market team hit's max salary limits with their stars, so some of the crumbs can slink over to Charlotte. Every NBA player is so focused on big lights-big money, it is crunching small markets. What is the answer? Maybe make rule changes that would help quality
teams overcome star power. My suggestions:
> Implement 4 second closely guarded rule that results in a turnover. This keeps "stars" from pounding the ball on isolation while the photographers get their lenses positioned for the poster moment. Also rewards effective double teams on "stars" who hog the ball in bad spots on the court.
> Eliminate the defensive 3 seconds rule. This allows big monsters to camp out in the lane and take out high flyers, or allows non-stars that play tough defense to effectively negate some of the "star" power. It could also help the effectiveness of zone defenses. This might also restore the importance of BIG MEN to the game. Apart from Dwight Howard, how many Centers matter in today's game versus previous eras?
> Implement the 1 and 1 at 7 fouls in a quarter versus 5, and make fouling out effective at 7 fouls versus 6. This gives extra opportunities to slow down the "stars" a time or two before they get into their shooting mode. even if a small market team has lesser players, they can get physical and foul.
Bottom line is the league, the players union and (to some degree) society have created this monster. The NBA needs to find a way to increase the meaning of TEAM. The latest CBA wiffed on items that would have helped. Therefore, rule changes must be used to make good teams more important than
flashy stars in big cities.

The only way Charlotte will ever become a major FA destination is if disc golf becomes highly popular among urban black youth.
(Charlotte is arguably one of the best cities in the world for disc golf, in case you probably didn't know)

Or sell them on the value of BBQ, and why they should invest some of their big money into a NASCAR team...

i definitely agree that the recent CBA whiffed in terms of helping small markets compete with big markets. try again in 6 years.
i also agree about the disappointing lack of post play. the game today is too dependent on penetrating guards. i miss the days of great post players. all the bigs today just want to face up and shoot jumpers or take their man off the dribble. how many quality back to the basket bigs are there today? howard, bynum, pao and marc, z.randolph, bogut, scola? is that it?
oh, and jennings is delusional.

See, I learn something new on here everyday.
I wonder if I could use it to convince my wife to visit.
I freaked her out the other day by looking up jobs in Charlotte

Probably closest match down here is a scone.
Still sounds a little sickening.

You shut your dirty whore mouth!
I get the tenders, more chicken for same price PLUS they put a biscuit in anyway so you can make your own. Try putting a little honey on the plain biscuit. Magical

Didn't realize Bojangle's was a Charlotte company. First Cookout, now Bo's and I'm starting to get homesick for some good drunken/hangover eats...
edit: deadspin reviewed cookout earlier

Fun fact: Dale Davis actually owned a NASCAR team a few years ago. Then again, he's from (and still lives I believe) about 30 minutes from where I do.
With that being said, it is easier to sell Charlotte to players from rural and/or Southern locations. A guy from New York may not like the change of pace Charlotte offers but someone from small town America might appreciate Charlotte from not being too hectic (I certainly do).
If anything, a team has to be lucky in the draft and grab a guy like Durant. If you grab someone who wants a larger market, best thing you can hope for is you flip him like Denver did Melo.

The Bojangles in Rock Hill on Cherry Rd is disgusting. Biscuit's are good, but their white meat chicken breasts are mostly dark meat which they try to pass off as white meat.

The Bojangles in Charlotte are sooooooo much better. The one in Costwold. mmmmm gooood.

You know, I've never been to a bad Bojangles and I've been to many in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Don't think I've ever been to the one in Rock Hill though. Well, pretty sure I haven't.

i use to call the one at cotswold the "slojangles" that place used take forever.... until they put the chick-fila next to it. now its always super fast because everyone else is next door. my favorite jangles in the one on monroe rd, near briar creek (down near lupies). there is never anyone there. its clean, fast and always hot.
as for rock hill... its better to just avoid the entire city.

On the free agent topic... all it is gonna take is winning.
Another fact you guys might not know is that outside of Hollywood and N.Y. North Carolina has the largest movie industry in the country. Just from living here in Durham I have been able watch tapings of Dawson's Creek and Orlando Bloom's movie,"Main Street". My partner who is an electrician at one of the Durham Public School facilities they taped a scene at got to meet him.
Once Mike and Cho put together a winning product good agents have plenty to sell their clients on Charlotte. The free agents will come.

No, scones are pastries. This is like a fluffy bread. More like a disc shaped croissant.
