This article really grinds my gears!

Portfolio review: This is the basketball equivalent of declaring bankruptcy. Michael Jordan mortgaged the team's future for one playoff run and the Bobcats are finally paying the ultimate price.

This is an atrocious team playing under a perfect storm of terrible circumstances (condensed season, injuries, not practice time) with nary a potential All-Star on its roster. On the bright side the team has almost purged all of its toxic assets and is under better management, leaving some hope the team can start stockpiling talent and finally begin to build the foundations of something.

Prime assets: Tyrus Thomas is the only player on the roster who might be able to fetch an established rotation player or mid first-round pick. Last year's draft picks Kemba Walker and Bismack Biyombo might be the perfect bankruptcy assets--players with defined NBA roles with room for growth beyond that whose immediate impact is so negligible that it won't prevent them from losing enough for their badly needed top-five pick.

Walker and Biyombo should grow to be perfect complementary players to the star or stars the Bobcats hope to draft in the next two years, or be good enough trade assets to find those players.

Toxic assets: At some point this summer either Corey Maggette or DeSagana Diop will be amnestied. The other shopped as an expiring contract. Boris Diaw is almost as bloated as his contract, which is thankfully almost over.

The rest: The Bobcats have an abundance of what I like to call trade filler across their roster. Rotation players with at least one viable NBA skill attached to a contract that might be slightly overpaid, but still falls within perfectly reasonable for a rotation player. Theoretically a team would attach these contracts to the prime asset in a trade to make contract figures work.

Gerald Henderson, D.J. Augustin, and Matt Carroll would all qualify. Unfortunately the Bobcats lack any prime assets to attach these valuable contracts to. The best thing about this roster is that it's almost completely liquidated.

First of all, it underrates so many of our players IMO.

We overrate our players so it cancels it out.

I know we do but still do you really see Henderson as a guy we would just add into a trade to make it work LOL? He is a big part of our future.

I don't know, that article seems to overrate Carroll IMO as "trade filler."

Henderson, at this stage, is overrated by most Cat's fans. He probably belonged in the same conversation as Biz and Kemba relative to complimentary players, but a star in the making he is not. Hendo has grit and defense, has improved his scoring and shooting, but still lacks consistency. He is not the most durable player...his jump shot is not dependable...and he's nowhere close to an impact player in the league. MJ is working with him to "coach him up", so hopefully he improves further.

LOL about the Carroll comment. I know a lot of you guys like Hammer, but he's so bad... :droop:

Why are our players always under rated until they leave then we have to hear how stupid we were to let them go? Do you remember people saying that bobcats only went to the playofff because of Brown? Now looking back think about all that talent and see how stupid that sound. Also I remember people saying Walace would be a good 6th man on a very good team.

I can see where the author is coming from but agreed that our players are so underrated it's ridiculous.

Kemba+Hendo+Williams+Biyombo+Mullens is an awesome core going forward & we are rebuilding perfectly.

Also of all our core going forward four are on rookie contracts & the other is on 2.5m & is underpaid imo.

We can't worry about stuff like this, some people are just damn ignorant.

awesome? are you sure you want to use that word to describe our core? i would have accepted "decent", "OK" and "fair"

also, i think mully is showing he is not part of the core. flash in the pan.

I can tell that next season is going to be a long one for some of the fans on this site. The truth is that there isn't one clear-cut NBA starter on the roster at the moment (other than Mags, who doesn't seem interested in playing).

While it is true that we do overrate our players most teams do that. This article does underrate Hendo and DJ who would both be solid rotation players on a good teams. Depending on the system both could be starters.

We clearly dont think the same, as when I see that lineup I have to fight the urge to kill an innocent kitten.
Any lineup that has Kemba Walker as the starting PG (with his current skillset) and Byron Mullens as the starting center is clearly the cause of cancer worldwide...

OK I may be the ultimate optimist but I do honestly think we are rebuilding perfectly, Rich Cho knows what he's doing & our future is bright although unfortunately for us it involves two seasons worth of tanking.

When I listed them five players I didn't mean as future starters  Williams & Mullens will be good players off the bench for us now & into the future & I consider Walker,Henderson & Biyombo future long term starters definitely.

Walker is the third best rookie of this class imo(including Rubio), if we actually had a half decent team he would be playing much better but despite his fg% he is showing all the intangibles required to lead a team at this level. His rebounding is ridiculously good & his passing is underrated.

Henderson is the glue guy that all teams would love to have, I consider Henderson near untouchable for us with his defense & midrange game, he is a throw back type of player & is definitely a young vet.

Biyombo has DPOY potential & can play the 4/5, he is an athletic beast who is very intelligent & although very raw he has the brains & work ethic to fulfil his potential. elite prospect, the only player I'd trade Biyombo for in this years draft is Anthony Davis.

Our prospects+anyone from the 2012 draft isn't enough for our team to the playoffs & will likely still be in the top 5 picks which is a great situation. Anthony Davis+Shabazz Muhammed??? :o

Of all the rebuilding teams who has the best core? who has the brighter futures?

Charlotte-Kemba+Hendo+Williams+Biyombo+Mullens

Washington-Wall+Crawford+Vesely+Magee

Detroit-Stuckey+Knight+Daye+Monroe

Cleveland-Irving+Eyenga+Thompson

Toronto-Bayless+Derozan+Davis+Valanciunas

New Orleans-Jack+Gordon+Aminu

Of all these teams none are guaranteed to be better than us, especially if you add in the two top 5 picks, I think New Orleans & us will be the only two with two top 5 picks & I think ours will be higher.

Kittens are never innocent. They are always plotting ways to cause trouble and potentially overthrow governments. Don't let all their cuteness fool you.

The cause of cancer is Dick Vitale's vocal cords. There was a study out of Stanford a few yrs ago that proved that. That lineup isn't the cause of cancer, but it is a flaming pile of kitty litter (see, NOT innocent. they poop inside and in gravel!)

I don't doubt he's a big part of our future. Unfortunately considering our past and our present, I can't see the future being much brighter.

That article is about as spot on as it gets. We should tone down our expectations of our current young talent from future stars to future solid supporting players to the star(s) we hopefully manage to draft.
