Let the Diaw happen and claim Williams. Hes still young, 24, and there really is no risk.

I can't help, but wonder why they just released such a strong young player. Is there something really negative about him that we don't know about ?

Waive Higgins Jr and sign t.will ASAP.
T.will would be a perfect 3rd string big PG and unlike Higgins, can actually play a bit.

He never really clicked with Houston, then fell out of their rotation. My guess is its practice habits.

there was a ton of mutual love between us and TWill, I think its a no brainer. Though we don't really need him

I could handle T-Will on the team.

Kemba - Hendo - TWill (if he gets his sh*t together) - Davis - Biz
Could be a great team.

grab him, amnesty Maggette, grin and bear it on T2, and leverage Diop's expiring next year.

or amnesty T2 - shoot, who cares - we suck bad enough that I don't mind loading up at any position. Play Mags at PF for all I care.

OT, but I've never understood why buying-out Diaw would benefit us...? He expires at the end of the season, why not just let him walk then? It would piss me off if we missed out on a trade simply because people were just waiting us out.
Question: Having the worst record, do we get first dibs on released players? I was gonna ask this with respect to Oden, but now I think we should go after Williams. Heck I'd take both if possible. We're a rebuilding team with a long range goal, I don't see the harm in taking on more high-potential players and seeing if they develop (especially if it means no more Higgins).
EDIT: 50 posts, now I'm a freshman! Though it should probably have an * since Courtside managed to surpass me in one day.

Bonnell said today that everyone interested in Diaw wanted us to take back veteren salaries past this season and Cho wasn't going for it.

As the worst team in the universe, we could claim T-Will off waivers as long as it is done within the specified waiver period of time (I think 48 hours). That also means we accept his current contract, which pays $2.3M this season, a team otpion at $3.1M next. I think the only way we'd do it is to get a favorable buyout of Diaw, MJ does not want to spend any money this year, as it only adds to the red ink. We really don't know what Cho/Higgins think of T-Will. He can be a knucklehead, and I doubt they'd take that on with a team that has no quality leadership already.

Wait for him to clear waivers then sign him as an UFA then.
(although I would rather make sure we landed him and just ate his contract. It's really not that much and we are well under).

It would be cheaper for us.
Option A is that he remains on the roster until the end of the season and we pay him his full 9 mill.
Option B is that his agent and our front office sit down and work out a figure that buys him out of his current contract. Let's say that number is 5 mill.
It's 9 mill Vs 5 mill and if we don't plan on playing him any way we might as well make it 5 mill and save some $$$$.

Back to T.Will though, tell me he wouldn't fit perfectly into what we are doing. He's young, fairly cheap and still have upside.
PG: DJA - Kemba - T.Will
SG: Hendo - Reggie - Hammer
SF: Mags - UPS
PF: T2 - DJW - *Boris
C: Biz - Mully - Mexicat - Gana
He could back up the point or the SG position or the SF position.
With his handles and passing he would be especially helpful to Kemba if he was on the court with him.
Kemba - Hendo - T.Will - UPS - Biz
How much fun would that line up be for a couple of mins per game. There would be alley oops going every where!

Or...
Option C - if we really want to piss Diaw off, waive his ass. Surely, some team (probably an undesirable one) will pick him up off-waiver and he'll come off the books for the remainder of the season. I'm guessing we'll save $2-3MM.

Hasn't he already earned like 6 million of that though? Is he gonna be willing to be bought out for under 3 mil? Sorry about getting so off-topic.
And I say we just eat TWill's salary to make sure we get him. MJ probably hates that idea but I really like this kid.

waive the brat and sign Twill NOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW, MJ liked him before he was drafted and he wanted to be here, he could be our future SF and is exactly what we need alongside Kemba/Hendo
