Did a good job with the team today. Helping them come back, seemed passionate, and spoke very fluent Japanese. Do you think he's a viable option at this point? Think next season he'll get the interim treatment if his daddy goes away?

I can almost guarantee you that he'll get the reigns next year. We'll be terrible again (hopefully not as bad, but still) and in year 2 of the rebuild so a lot of the high profile coaches probably will not want to tarnish their records. Besides, I think Stephen has earned a chance anyway.

seems like the likely situation at this point for next season is paul steps down to assistant and stephan moves to head coach. why else would the front office be on board with stephan and paul switching roles like this? no sense to go an hire anyone else in the early phase of this rebuild.

I don't see the point of riding along with son of Silas. MJ will want to make the next hire a coach whose reputation and status will attract quality free agents. Silas may have promise, and perhaps they are test driving him now as Paul must surely want to retire after this year. Nothing against the guy, but SS will not enhance our chances of getting free agents here.

I respectfully disagree. A coach alone will not get us a star for sure, but if the Cats are competing with another team who offers a similar contract, the coach can sway the decision.

Eh I'm not sure if Lebron, Bosh, Deron Williams, or a Dwight Howard care who the coach is. Players these days seem to care about the talent on a team and location more than anything. But I see your point.

For the record, I don't care who the head coach is. Coaches have less of an impact on the game than the players do. Talented teams always win, regardless of the coach.

SWEDD that isn't exactly true....... Coaches do matter- no matter what sport you are in, that stated a coach can only coach his team up to it's talent in the NBA- not beyond it like they can in the NFL...

Phil Jackson, Dean Smith, Red Auerbach, Mike Krzyzewski, John Wooden couldn't win with our team.

Battery could win 50 games coaching the Heat or Thunder.

(this one will get Marvel)... Doc Rivers was considered a terrible coach and was on the verge of being fired before KG and Ray Allen came to town. Now he's a top 5 coach.


A good team could win 50 games without a coach. All a team really needs is people to compile a scouting report for every game.

I'm starting to get on board with Silas Jr. He coached a good game yesterday when we sucked in the first half we were just in LOLCats mode, you could have drawn up the most perfect plays in the world and it wouldn't have mattered.

The intense media pressure that goes along with being such a powerhouse team. The front office is ensuring that he isn't blinded by the bright lights of Time Warner cable arena.
Also we won't have to worry about the hordes of teams just waiting to snap up the next CHA coaching prodigy, just look at what happened with Bernie "PJ2.0" Bickerstaff.

Winner! It sucks to have a fanbase calling for your head coach of the future's head because your team has less talent on it then its cheer-leading squad!
