Source says Jamario Moon is being called up to Charlotte from the LA D-Fenders, who are in the playoffs. It's the 8th call-up for LA.

Ugh, a fading talent. Let's not roll the dice on some young guy.
Edit: He's basically a homeless man's Shawn Marion. Can hit an open 3 once a blue moon.
second Edit: Yes, I like Sean Williams, he rules.

Re: jamario moon a bobcat?
we definitely need help at small forward with mags out and reggie hurting and i appreciate that we are finally going to use that last roster spot. however, i was hoping for someone who was a little more of a shooter and someone with some upside. beggars can't be choosers i guess, so i will take it.
moon is basically UPS with a little more 3-pt range, if i remember correctly.

Re: jamario moon a bobcat?
So no T.Will, G.Green, Hickson etc but instead we go with a wash up like Moon?
Yay!!
P.S. If Tyrus is out (as per usual) can we not make a play for Sean Williams?

Re: jamario moon a bobcat?
Moon is not only a wash-up, he's a 32 yo washup.
If we're trying out people to find a gem in the rough to potentially sign to a longer term deal as a future contributer (i.e. a Lin, Lester Hudson or Gerald Green type), we need to be targeting guys 27 yo and younger, preferably 25 and younger.
We can always sprinkle in some cheap veteran influence later. Character guys like Juwan Howard are always available for the league min and Jamison will soon be joining the under $5 million club himself.
This really should not be rocket science for our FO. You simply look at the top 5-7 players in the d-league and make a decision.
Instead we will finish out the season with Jermario Moon and Son of Higgens wasting two of our roster spots.

These kinds of things always strike me as a favor owed to an agent or something of the sort.

Veteran small forward Jamario Moon has signed with Charlotte through the end of the season, sources told SI.com.
Moon, who had been playing with the L.A. D-Fenders of the NBA Development League since early March, will be joining his fifth team in five seasons. With the Bobcats (7-51) well on their way to finishing with the worst record in the league, it's a chance to preview a player who could become part of their woefully shallow talent pool in the future.
Moon has started in 157 of the 278 games in his NBA career, but his production has consistently trailed off since his rookie season in Toronto that remains his best (8.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, 27.8 minutes per game). It's hardly the first time he's had to take the unconventional route into the league, as he played previously for the CBA, WBA, a team in Mexico and even spent time as a member of the Harlem Globetrotters.
He averaged 17.7 points in 12 games with the D-Fenders this season (48.5 percent shooting from the field and 39.6 percent from three-point range), and scored 25 points in his one playoff appearance. The D-Fenders, who set a new D-League regular season record by finishing 38-12 and are looking to go up 2-0 on Iowa in their first-round playoff series Saturday night, have had eight call-ups this season under former Golden State and Sacramento head coach Eric Musselman.

It's not really an issue at this point in the year. I'm guessing we went with a veteran over a younger guy because Cho is comfortable with UPS and just wants someone that can play garbage minutes. Plus, since we worked him out earlier in the season, it makes sense that we go with him. Darius Miles would have also made sense.

Re: jamario moon a bobcat?
It's moves like this that make we truly wonder if Charlotte will ever get to a contending spot in the playoffs. Ugh

I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I don't really care, it's not a big deal. They have to have someone play the games.

Pretty much what it boils down to. I'm sure Cho would have went with a younger option IF he liked that option more than Moon. A lot of the people we've passed up on (ex: Williams), don't fit the mold of player that Cho is looking for anyway.

Jamario is going to realize his D-league team could probably beat the Bobcats 50% of the time.

Re: jamario moon a bobcat?
Are you sh***g me? What a horrible decision. In what universe does bringing in a 32 yo make sense? Have they decided NOW that they want to win, to avoid infamy as the worst team ever (like Moon will make that difference?). Good teams make consistently good decisions. This team is making horrible decision after horrible decision. Gotta agree with Bassman:

It's not a horrible decision. Moon is here to play garbage minutes due to Williams and Mags being gimpy. If either of them were healthy, we wouldn't have added anyone. The only guy I think we might have went with besides Moon is Brandon Costner, a former NC State product.
But I'm guessing Cho has a reason for going with Moon over Costner and other younger players.

Re: jamario moon a bobcat?
Snidely, are you scared we are going to win 6 of our last 8 games? Honestly I find it sickening when people so buy into the idea of tanking that ANY attempt at improvement is bad.
The only way we can tell for sure whether Jamario Moon is washed up is by bringing him in here.
Frankly if Rich Cho is everything advertised we should have been doing this type of thing months ago, these contracts are very cheap and you always have the chance that you find a keeper. We could have won just as many games with several d-leaguers and in my opinion should have!

Re: jamario moon a bobcat?
Definitely not afraid we will win any more games, let alone 6. Fine with me to lose them all. No, just can't understand bringing in Moon when we could be test-driving young players with a possible future in the league, as DMutumbo wrote earlier, we should be looking at 25 year olds, or younger, guys like Brandon Costner or Elijah Millsap, who might have a future in this league.
