I remember back when this guy was going to be the #1 pick. How has he fallen so far?

I'd stay away from him. He's barely a top 10 guy in the draft IMO.

His dribbling is just bad. Had a real tough time creating his own shot. He moves a bit like Paul Pierce. He's a powerful kid though, bet he could develop a nice low post game like DWade. He'll find ways to score and has a sweet jumpshot. Doesn't have the quickest release. I think he's more likely to be a NBA starter than not. He's gonna work hard. I don't want him in CHA bc I think there would be a lot of pressure put on him bc of the UNC thing, and frankly as a Bobcats fan I don't want to hear that crap when he plays poorly

Not very excited about the idea of drafting Barnes. Doesn't seem to have the elite athleticism required of a top pick and his handle makes me think he'd struggle to create his own shot at the top level.

I'd draft Paul Pierce #2. But I doubt he's gonna be a Paul Pierce. Pierce has much better handles.

What did Paul Pierce look like right before he got drafted.

Rich wrote in the other thread that Barnes could be Glen Rice, which I would be stoked about and has me reconsidering what a wrote a few posts ago.

more of a shooting guard, to be honest. He's so strong that he can bully even some SFs though. I think he's a better SF anyway, uses his skills offensively better there. Really though Pierce improved in every single category from where he was in college. He was (i think) like the 10th or 11th overall pick. I don't think people expected HoF play from him.

I just checked, it's his comparison on the NBADraft.net link on the opening thread. Glen Rice would be worthy of #2 in this draft.

If he fails to live up to these expectations I'm holding you personally accountable.

If he fails, it's only because of the lulz

I'm still not sure what to expect from Barnes. Not worth the #2 pick though. If we would get a second first round pick I'd gamble and draft him.

Harrison Barnes reminds me of a less athletic wes Johnson. Do not draft this guy. he is not good.

I think Barnes and PJIII stock are going to be the surprise of the combine. Wouldn't shock me to see one of them make it up in the top 5. I think people are underestimating how athletic and physically dominating these guys are -- their perceived 'soft' play has overshadowed this fact.

the idea of what harrison barnes was supposed to represent is exactly the player we need - a sharp shooting small forward who can average 20ppg and has the perfect size and strength for the position. its a shame he'll probably only be 75% of what he was expected to be.

he wont be glen rice, but he might be wally szczerbiak with a little more athleticism. and i'd be OK with that player in the 5-11 range, just not at two. even if we decided barnes as our guy, we can't take him at 2. thats a PR nightmare. he'd never live up to expectations put on him by media and UNC fans and MJ would get crucified.

the only way we can take barnes is to trade back in the draft. he absolutely, positively cannot be selected at #2 under an circumstance, no matter how good he looks in workouts.
