Just curious...was reading your GM saying you might pull in a vet player that is classy and can be a good mentor/teacher. How about we trade you Jason Richardson straight up for nothing. You get him so we can start JJ Redick.

He has around 6 mil a year coming to him for the next 3 years?

By the way what is the deal with Tyrus Thomas. Looks like he has an awful contract for the production you are getting out of him.

2014 player option of a little less than 7 million dollars. That's not the worst contract in the world, but he's already 31... That would mean he'd be like 35 making that kind of money off the bench (hopefully) for us?

I dunno. It's not super terrible or anything. We already have Maggette doing the same thing, really, and he'll expire soon...

Yup. He lost too much weight and couldn't bang down low last year. He DID have a 7 or 8 block game last year. But he's been disappointing.

Richardson is a step slower than a few years ago, and we are rebuilding, we need a cheap veteran to mentor, not someone that is overpriced and is just like Maggette, could you imagine? Maggette and Richardson= 2 on 5 every night, nobody else would touch the ball. I will without hesitation pass on this.

He's so skinny you could get an average woman to box out better than him, (no offense to any women).

I think I would do it, if you gave the $3m to offset some salary and the #19 pick. I'm sure that we can hold onto him for now, and if needed, pass him along at the trade deadline to a contender for another pick or so. I'm sure the league wouldn't allow people to be traded for nothing... I'm sure we'd have to give you a top-59 protected 2nd round pick.

Then How about this deal:

We trade you Jason Richardson, Hedo Turkoglu & the #19 pick for Tyrus Thomas.

Hedo is owed $4.5 million less than Thomas and his deal ends a year sooner.

The only way we would do that is if an apocalyptic event happened and Davis dropped to #19 other than that, that's two bad contracts for one bad contract. How many years are left on the two contracts?

Hmm... Does Hedo expire sooner? Either way it isn't that great because the reason we'd want to lose tyrus is for financial flexibility, and we'd not really be gaining much of it. I DO like the 19th pick, and it's a good attempt to give us value that would make it worth it, but I don't think we'd want both guys.

Well I was also talking about cap room. That's the real reason we'd like to move Thomas.

I think the team would be better off signing someone like JRich to a less expensive, shorter contract for their veteran presence. Someone who can play off the bench, push our guys in practice, etc. And gets paid less than 3 million a year.

EDIT: I see you edited Diop into the deal. Still not super interested. Hedo and JRich and Maggette is both too expensive and not exactly the kind of veteran presence we need.
