Eric Gordon to Visit Charlotte

Post#1 » by CATastrophic » Sun Jul 1, 2012 4:18 am

According to Chris Broussard of ESPN, Eric Gordon is visiting Indiana, Houston, and Phoenix, with the possibility of visiting Portland, Dallas, and Charlotte. Gordon is seeking a maximum contract at 4yrs./$58mil. However, he is a restricted free agent, and New Orleans can match any offer from other teams. Will New Orleans match a maximum offer now that they have Austin Rivers to eventually take over at shooting guard? If they do not match, it would probably be unlikely he comes here to Charlotte. But it's nice to hope. If we somehow lured Gordon, I think we would then be looking to possibly deal Gerald Henderson.

Do we have what it takes to get Eric Gordon to Charlotte?

Thoughts?

Two Gordon's at SG? Cho really wants me to buy tickets this year.

Anyway, I think he's meeting with us only because we can offer him a max deal with our salary cap situation. Not sure how I feel about that considering his injury issues.

I would offer Gordon serious money. Hope to land a big in next years draft. Trade Henderson to Chicago for Taj Gibson and never look back.

I could have seen this making sense if Ben Gordon wasn't traded for.....now, even bringing him in for a meeting just sounds dumb

His injuries scare me just enough to make me not want him at the max. If we can get him for 12-13M/season, I'd go for it.

Gordon is looking for a MAX contract despite not proving much of anything in the league except for being injury prone.

This would kinda mess up the whole team tank idea....and if broussard said it it's most likely wrong

I mean we'd still suck if we had Gordon on the roster. He might take us from the worst team to a bottom 3 team but would seriously upgrade our talent level.

I wouldn't offer the max, but I'd definitely put a bid in

what would we do about Henderson? Sure Gordon is a superior player, but I think that loyalty needs to come to play here. Hendo should only be replaced by a stud SG draft pick not a FA acquisition when we're rebuilding

It's a business. Players receive a salary to perform a job. Loyalty has no relevance to improving our team.

If we can upgrade SG, Hendo is pushed aside or moved out. It's that simple.

I don't understand the point of offering a undersized injury prone SG a 12+ mil contract while we're rebuilding, what if we win the lotto next year and Shabazz is the consensus #1? I guess we haven't learned from Detroit and BG. he had an amazing playoff series then got over paid and was saddled as a bad contract. We need to stay patient for at-least 1 more year

Thought I might change the direction a little - mainly just to see Swedd's head explode.
