Very solid acquisitions: PG-Ramon Sessions, SG-Ben Gordon, C-Haywood
--A playmaker, a deft scorer who can in the fourth quarter, and a solid post defender.
Outstanding draft: SF/SG Micheal Kidd Gilchrist, SF Jeffrey Taylor
-- MKG will be able to defend even Lebron without being athletically overwhelmed. Taylor is very good athlete who can also defend.
New coach with a good reputation.
The Bobcats will be a legit threat in the East.

Appreciate it man, if we get Shabazz next year, it'll be the best core Charlotte has ever had (including the hornets)

I'm sure we all appreciate some positive talk here from outsiders, for once. However, lets not get too ahead of ourselves. Goal is to improve next season (the Thunder still won around 20 games after they drafted Durant) and hopefully still have a top 5 pick. Then, that is when we will start to make our rise up to the playoffs. Improve the young talent next year. Gain a high draft pick. Have a ton of cap space. Next off-season is KEY, and after next off-season that is when I think we should be seriously thinking playoffs, not this one though. Hopefully somewhere in the next years we can be serious threats to get the hardware....
Also interesting how ORL is now looking to take the same approach as us. Gain draft picks, be terrible, and build from the ground up. I like what our FO has done with the additions of Sessions, Gordon, and Haywood. I think all three, with this team, are an upgrade. I am also a huge believer in the draft. They are also doing it right, they are improving the team but with the realization that we are just looking to improve from 7 wins. 20-25 wins would still be GOOD for us next season. Just everyone keep that in mind. All I want to really see next year is a much more exciting team than last season that is fun to watch. If SL is any indication of Dunlap and how he will play, I think it will be much more fun to watch.

I think the Vlade, Rice, Mason trio was our best (Bobby Phills too, RIP).

IMO
Biyombo =< Mourning
MKG = LJ
Kemba > Muggsy
Shabazz > Kendall Gil
Ben Gordon < Dell Curry
Jeff Taylor > ?
Gerald Henderson > ?
Byron Mullens
Future Portland/Detroit draft picks BPA's
If we get Bazz we'll have so much balance/talent in our young core we'll probably make the playoffs the next year
The future is bright.. we're gonna be stacked in a hurry pretty soon

“@jwquick: Visited with Charlotte GM Rich Cho today. Never seen him happier and more at ease. Says he loves working for Michael Jordan.”
“@jwquick: Cho wearing Air Jordan shirt while he raved about Jordan. Says he tells Jordan what he thinks, not what he wants to hear. Did same in POR."
“@jwquick: Cho didn't want to talk about his 10 months in Portland, but did say he was surprised, noting he had home in escrow at the time.”
Good to hear.

I'd rather target a dynamic 1st option potential SG then a PF. PF's are a dime a dozen in the NBA
Bazz/MKG =

I think we win 20 games this year. I really hope we can draft Shabazz. I seriously wouldn't mind if we get a 1st from Henderson and Mullens this year to move up and get 1 of the top bigs in the top 8 of the lottery next year.
If Orlando does Lakers deal straight up for Bynum and future picks then we will be last place in the s.e.
If they do Houston deal then I don't I mean we would still have scrubs on our roster while they replace their 3 scrubs with 3 players who are some of the most upside players in the draft and could add Parsons too while still having Jameer and JJ.

Look, this has been a solid offseason so far, but let's not go crazy here. I still think the MKG pick will be very tough to defend, given I doubt he can be the 2nd best player in this draft (or even 3rd best).

That's funny, considering that
Good PFs in Bobcat's History could be the title of the world's smallest book.

PF is the least important position in the NBA right now.

Last two champions were built around Nowitzki and LeBron (point forward). Also, Miami was in trouble until Bosh came back. I think PF (or "offensive post player" since the game is getting "positionless") is still pretty important.

I totally disagree that MJ and Cho are getting it done!
I love Dunlap, MKG, and Taylor. But . . .
1)Ben Gordon - added $2.5 mln to payroll this yr and 12.5 mln nxt. Gordon takes playing time away from Hendo, dissuades us from trying Taylor & MKG at SG, and makes Reggie Williams expendable (essentially costing us another $2.5 mln). The only reason I can swallow this is the #1 pick, but that means we basically paid $15 mln for the pick.
2. Ramon Sessions - $5 mln for a PG who has insisted that he wants to be a starter, when we picked a PG in the first round last yr? Why is Sessions any different than DJA in that regard? The "who starts" controversy is the last thing this team needed.
3. Brendan Haywood - a 32 year old who lost playing time last year. Clearly declining. The 7' 26 yo (Mahinmi) who took away Haywood's playing time was available as a free agent, but instead we pursued Haywood. Sent Haywood to recruit Jamison, but ironically, signing Haywood helped erase the cap space we need to sign Jamison. Yes, we got Haywood on sale . . . but for 3 yrs.
Any one of these moves might have been okay on their own, but add them up, and we maxed out our cap space. Now, we desperately need a rebounding PF, but to add one we need to amnesty Diop or TT.
Relative to the way Cho stated he wanted to rebuild, I get the DET 1st/Gordon trade, but not the rest.
