The big 3 you mention is still a big unknown to me (it'll shape up as we go along), and I'm not convinced Noel is really any better than McAdoo, Len, Polythress, etc. And Shabazz I've only seen in mix-tapes...which isn't a good basis for a top 3 pick. I don't think anything is "clear" at this point. To counter your Bosh point we could also end up taking Marcus Fizer (also a 4th pick) or both Jamal Crawford and Joel Pryzbilla (8th and 9th).

I think Mcadoo is going to be this years Thomas Robinson, and struggle in the NBA. Poythress is the one to keep an eye on. He could easily go in the top 3 by seasons end.

I'm not big on McAdoo or Poythress just yet. They seem like marginal NBA contributors with good skill sets that will live their careers off untapped potential. I'll keep a keen eye on them.

Well I am rather ignorant of college basketball, but regarding clear top 3, I am not impressed by Noel and Len seems like a better C prospect to me (based on first impressions).

Would you rather end up
a) with a realistic chance to get top 3 pick -> being among 5 worst teams in league
b)having a smaller shot at top 3 but see more improvement on court this season
c)not keeping the pick but missing the playoffs
d)making the play offs for first round exit (which is a given unless Rose-like injuries to our opponent would happen)
?

I only know I would rather have 13th pre-lottery pick with a longshot at top3 than like 10th-12th pre-lottery one ending up stuck with it and still owing a pick to Bulls.

My first choice would be "d)making the play offs for first round exit" as fan but it hold weight for the front office as well because if we're that good with our young talent then they are destined for stardom and that should attract all-star caliber free agents to want to sign here. It's not like Charlotte is a boring city. The Bobcats are just a dismal organization and I hope that soon change. Not to mention we still possess two other 1st rounders from teams that are middle of the pack at best. I'm sure we'd be able to package those picks for something if need be or keep them and add more young nucleus to our already playoff core.

...but it looks like we're headed for "b)having a smaller shot at top 3 but see more improvement on court this season"

So...Shabazz Muhammad has been reinstated by the NCAA and will be eligible to play this Monday. I'll put that on my watchlist

Agreed. McAdoo and Robinson look to have pretty similar game types to me also. I think McAdoo could play the 3 more naturally than Robinson (or Derrick Williams) can, akin to Marvin Williams but I'm not sure he's quite big enough to be anything more than a David Lee type at the 4.

Also, Austin continues to put up good numbers at Baylor. If there was a center power ranking for right now, I'd probably say: Zeller, Noel, Austin, Adams and then Len. Len has more offensive skill than Adams but Adams has that big P word and the frame scouts drool over.

I think CJ McCollum will be this draft's Damian Lillard in the "NBA talent but plays at a tiny school" kind of way.

Nerlens is looking better. He is extremely thin though I didn't know he was that thin.

I'm so glad someone who works for the NCAA finally felt bad about their company's shady business and decided to step up probably felt bad about pjIII considering his parents actually paid back the money before he played a game . Glad shabazz was reinstated. I just now found out his name is pronounced [Shaw-boz] .

Nerlens has looked decent imo.

I'm glad Shabazz is reinstated.

Tony Mitchell might be a good pick for us if we are in the 5-8 range.

The perfect player for us without a doubt is Cody Zeller, he's the poster child for exactly what we need. An atheltic, true center who can knock down the midrange and has plus post moves. Domination of the boards is what you get with this guy too, and he could be the complimentary piece that people look back at when they want to know when we got so good.
Mike Malone was never given a fair chance in Sacramento, and Ranadive will soon come to regret that, when he's on top of the WC inevitably contending somewhere

I think Zeller will go all four years, or at least finish his degree.

Wouldn't be surprising Kilo, he's a standup person but its doesn't hurt to hope for a position to get the guy.

Knowing the family, I really think he will. Don't quote me on it, I'm not an inside source or anything. But I'd expect it.

I'd be stunned if he didn't leave after this year. Guys can always go back to finish up their studies.

I did say "or finish his degree". But it's not just about the paper certificate.

Would be nice to go ahead and receive Portlands first rounder this year.

I'd rather have it when it would be a lottery pick either next year or 2014. Having a pick in the teens this draft won't be of much help to us.

I thought the protection on the pick stayed the same (top 12) until 2016 where it would be unprotected? Might be wrong.
