I'm going to miss Steve.

this seems random. for all his mispronunciations and mistakes due to his age, he has a nice chemistry with Dell and the broadcasts are enjoyable.

question to the guys who watched the Hornets in the 90s - he didn't confuse player names so much back then, did he?

Yes, I also liked his rapport with Dell.

Does this seem like a demotion to you, guys?

It seems like a demotion. I'm sure it is in pay. And it definitely is in visibility( how much he cares about that though I don't know). Maybe he wanted to go back to radio, less time constraints. I don't know.

Radio definitely isn't a better gig unless it allows him more freedom at his age.

Even if he did want to go back to radio, I can't see Steve pushing Lauer out the door in order to do it. I'd guess there is a lot more to the picture.

I love Uncle Steve, warts and all. He is a legend.

Hopefully they don't get really dumb and let Steph Ready move on to another broadcast.

I remember Steve on the radio and think he'll be good there, maybe even better than as a TV guy. I'll be curious to see if they actually try to bump Stephanie Ready up. I think she's qualified and prepared to give it a shot. or if they get someone from the college ranks or something. my preference is Stephanie because she can handle it and more women are needed in the spotlight.

As much as we would all love to see Steph on TV full-time, it seems that they would look for a broadcaster to put next to Dell. Steph and Dell fill the same role as color commentator. Are there any examples of a TV broadcast crew that is only two color analysts w/out a dedicated broadcast person?

The Hawks feel that way when I've watched their broadcast.

I had to look it up... I knew they had Nique as the color guy, but not sure who was the play by play guy.

they definitely have a dedicated play by play by.

This really bums me out. Uncle Steve was one of my favorite things about watching/listening to the games. I always loved his "He shot that one from Gastonia." I know he often made mistakes but it never bothered me and was always endearing.

Seems it wasn't the Hornets decision.

I hope Stephanie doesn't take his place. She was just as annoying this year. I'd like some new blood in there.

Yeah, but I've watched then a few times and he is awful.

This is bullchit. Just bullchit. His replacement better not have the last name of Jordan or Higgins or I'll seriously start supporting the Kings or some other chitty team.

Sad news, Steve is great.

I wonder who FSS wants to replace him?

Having to agree with Nique probably brings him down a few notches.

I have cut out a lot of Steve's dad jokes and mispronunciations. If I would include the latter ones in a video, it probably would seem like as if I'm pointing at his mistakes so I might have to not use those.

But otherwise I guess I could make some appreciation video. I'm sure he'd reply on twitter and be glad to see something like that.

Wow I really liked Steve stammering over words. Hopefully they don't replace him with someone awful.

I hate to see Uncle Steve go, FSS obviously didn't consider the history and how much many of the fans enjoy him in spite of his flaws. I hope we can at least get a decent replacement.
