Amare Stoudemire

Okay so this is not going to go over well. I've read several pages of Bobcats fans trying to figure out who to draft. And I can tell you... watch and evaluate all you want... There is no sure thing. I can find flaws in all of them. I'm not sure pick 1 is worth more than pick 10. You ought to be open to trading it.
Plus as many have noted you all aren't that high on the prospects you do have. The best bet for some this summer is to throw big bucks at Al Jefferson.
So why not Amare? He looks decent right now... just not worth his contract. You can get them to include Copeland in the deal who is an interesting prospect.
The NBA as Lebron has noted is making big bucks this season. Which means the salary cap is going to jump millions. Plus the new salary floor for next season is 90%.
So yea Stoudemire could get injured true. But especially if Ty Thomas was part of the package going back you could amnesty Stoudemire if he becomes a dead weight. You cant amnesty Al Jefferson... but Amare you can.
I'm sure they'd love Ben Gordon's contract back. Make them take Ty Thomas too.
Then you look at free agents, overseas, trading your pick, anything to get assets that you can move later to improve the club if you have to.
The chance of getting Wiggins is much lower than I think most realize. I know I'll get reamed for this... but Amare is a name that can still play and you have the option to amnesty him.

Trading for Grandfather time/Mr. Injury with a top 5 pick, what a great idea!

The Knicks have been looking for takers for Amare's salary... I'm not saying you need to include your 1st in this... just that you should consider trading it.

A) All the prospects have flaws, so let's trade for an old, injury-prone, overpaid player with flaws?
B) Couldn't care less about whether a guy is a "name" or not, care more about team viability long term.
C) No, we couldn't amnesty him; you can only amnesty players who were on your roster at the time of the new CBA. This offseason Tyrus will be the only player we can still amnesty, once a guy changes teams or gets a new contract he becomes "unamnestiable."

Is that true? The rule I read said they had to be signed before a certain date that's all. I remember the Nuggets talking about amnesty for Al Harrington all the time... but they didnt sign him

Chauncy was not a Knick long, but he was on the Knicks squad at the time of the new CBA agreement. This is why the Knicks could amnesty him. You can amnesty only players that were on your team at the time of the new agreement's ratification.
I am not going to tease you. The other guys have done that enough. Amare is not the type of player the Cats are looking for. He is to old, to often injured, and commands to much of a salary cap requirement. I don't see them trading for Amare. Picking him up off waivers should the Knicks amnesty him? Possibility.

Ok so have went to coon first on this. harder to suggest this such you can trade and amnesty. suppose more team swould do that then. in reality they should let thems do this.

Amares contract isn't insured. The Knicks would give him away for a loaf of bread if they could.

No thanks. We already have Warrick who isn't much worse than Amare at this stage

My intent wasn't to tease, my apologies if it came off that way. I was just stating reasons as to why I have no desire to see Amar'e (really just his contract) on this team. We think Tyrus' deal sucks (and it does), but Amar'e makes about 2.5 times what Thomas makes (same length of salary too).
Since the Knicks use their one amnesty on Chauncey they can't do so to Stoudemire, otherwise picking him up of waivers would be a viable option.

I think the pick is valuable because we have a good shot at 2 players who both will make an immediate impact when they arrive in the NBA. Shabazz or McLemore.
So the pick is off limits.
I'd be interested in Amare for something like Tyrus Thomas, Diop and the POR pick.

In my defense though Stoudemire has looked nice recently. 23 per too. I just thought if you are gonna make some noise Al Jefferson isn't gonna do it. Get Stoudemire & Copeland. Then go get Paul Pierce.
That'd be the start of a crazy 2 or 3 season window experiment... that could go horribly wrong I suppose

The cats are not building to win now for a year or two which is what the players you mentioned would accomplish. The Bobcats are building to make a winning team that will win for ten years.

eh I know but what's the overall record of the bobcats since their inception? terrible.
So Paul Pierce, Stoudemire, Copeland some current bobcats like Kemba, MKG, sessions, etc
Go to Europe and sign their best centre... Bourousis and best PG Teodosic or even crazier Diamantidis... work the phones get a few more vets and roll the dice. That would sure been entertaining. Worth my league pass dollars. So what if you don't get Shabazz... the guy open admits he is just learning to get into a defensive stance like we teach middle school kids....

Gordon + Tyrus + Warrick + Portland pick is the most I'd give up for that contract right now. I would absolutely love to have Amare on this team, just not at the expense of any high value pieces.

Let me just make this clear. I am not suggesting you give up prospects. Just take back the contract. That's all! I'm not completely crazy. And I am saying they should include Copeland... and that's a big deal IMO.
You could also doing something around Diop's contract too to try and get a big 3 with Kemba going. This is the kinda stuff that sells tickets... I suspect Rudy Gay to Toronto is a bit about star value from a business aspect.

Hey I'll take Amar'e if they wanna take Tyrus and BG:
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ba3dxu8Though, according to Hollinger, somehow that trade would benefit neither team
