The Bargain Bin - D League Prospects & News

Post#1 » by Snidely FC » Tue Feb 12, 2013 8:56 pm

Many of you have been interested in what's happening with Royce White. He's due to play his first D League game tonight at 8. You can watch live here: http://www.nba.com/dleague/games/201302 ... einfo.html

His team, the Rio Grand Valley Vipers, has a number of players worth watching.
Terrence Jones has consistently looked like the best player on the floor in D League games this year, avg 19/9.
Greg Smith, assigned by HOU yesterday, will play his first game for RGV.
Tim Ohlbrecht, a guy RGV announcers joke is the "3rd Gasol" http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Tim-Ohlbrecht-536/
Throw in Andrew Goudelock, Scott Machado, Glenn Rice Jr.(who scored 35 pts in a game last week), Vernon Macklin, and Gastonia's own 7 footer, Hassan Whiteside.

RGV plays Maine, which also has some good ballers, like Bobcats-final cut DaJuan Summers and the ever exciting Micah Downs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMWzetECfyE

Will Royce show up?

I forgot I wasn't on the GB, and read this as "The Bargnani Lin- D-League Prospects and News", and clicked thinking it was a troll thread saying both belong in the D-League.. I swear I'm partially dyslexic.

If it's worth your effort, it's okay with me to change the name of the thread, that is very funny.

And invite every Raptors troll on the planet in here to blow the thread up?

I agree CHA_77_Bobcats's partial dyslexia is freaking hilarious - but nothing is worth that open invite.

The Springfield Armor have acquired forward Kris Joseph from the Maine Red Claws in exchange for forward James Mays.

Joseph (6-7, 210, Syracuse) appeared in 12 games (eight starts) with the Red Claws this season, averaging 18.2 points on .437 shooting, 5.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.6 steals in 34.1 minutes per game. Joseph scored a season-high 28 points on November 23 at Canton.

Blow it up? Bargnani is despised in Toronto. He has zero passion for the game of basketball.

Nope. He's strictly a small forward that can't shoot. We already have one of those. He's a Canadian MKG.

Royce White obviously not in shape, but looked amazingly confident and creative last night. He steps right in and orchestrates the offense, no matter that Andrew Goudelock was playing PG. Hope he can overcome his issues and play in the NBA, because he is a unique player. He plays like he thinks he's a basketball artist.
7pts/8rbs/4ast in 18 mins.

Terrence Jones 15pts7rbs/5ast, showed off the whole package, driving length of the court, dishing, outside shooting, rebounding. This guy should be playing in the NBA today. Like Harrison Barnes with handles, but bigger. It bums me out the way HOU has hoarded PFs. If they don't have room for him, we should seriously try to trade for him.

Greg Smith 20pts on 9/11 shooting, 6rbs, 4ast, 4st, simply unstoppable at this level, just bigger and stronger than everybody else, looks like a man among boys in D League. Phenomenal hands. An inexpensive, young big who could help us immensely on the interior. Trade for him now or sign him this summer as a free agent.

we should sign this guard

he had recent games of

27pts, 5reb, 3ast (3-of-5 from 3pt line)
17pts, 3reb, 1ast (1-for-3 from 3pt line)
24pts, 8reb, 2ast
22pts, 7reb, 1ast (1-of-2 from 3pt line)
14pts, 4reb, 6ast (2-of-5 from 3pt line)
12pts, 4reb, 4ast (3-of-7 from 3pt line)

he's got good size 6-5 and can play both guard spots.

AWESOME GUARD STATS

Him or Jardine

Honestly though, I'm impressed. Thought he wouldn't even make it in the D League.

cory has had quite a few stinkers so far in the dleague as well. overall 12ppg, 3.8rpg, 2.2apg on 42%, not bad, but not anything any NBA team is looking at. cory is a jack of all trades, master of none type guard. decent scorer, decent rebounder, decent passer, decent defender, decent 3pt shooter. role players need to have an elite skill to stick. he has none.

I'm surprised he isn't playing in Europe where I'm sure he could making more money.

The New Orleans Hornets are expected to sign NBA D-League center Henry Sims to a 10-day contract, a league source confirmed.

Sims averaged 17.1 points and 9.0 rebounds in 36 games with the Erie Bayhawks.

He's 7' 240, 22 yo w/a high BBIQ available without a draft pick for a $35k 10 day contract. Why wouldn't we sign him? I don't get it I don't get it I don't get it.

While we're talking about bringing back the Hornets name, why not bring back another famous Charlotte B-ball name? My D-League Yes Please Player of the Week: Glen Rice Jr.

Dude went off the rails at GTech, but the talent was always there and he seems to have straightened things out and is en fuego right now. Still only 22 and 6'6, we could use a long range bomber like this (to cover up the stench of Ben Gordon's decaying carcus.)

We got a spot open. Come on, give him a look!

Hornets...Glen Rice...

I also hear one of the top prospects in the draft is an undersized but highly athletic PF from UNLV...

And then next year we will likely be in range to pick up the next Mashburn... http://nbadraft.net/players/noah-vonleh
