http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--sources--bobcats-more-determined-to-trade-ben-gordon-after-incident-with-coach-165657267.html

After a bout of disruptive behavior from Ben Gordon targeted at Charlotte Bobcats coach Mike Dunlap, the franchise's desire to trade the guard has deepened, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Ben Gordon is averaging 12.6 points this season. (AP)As Dunlap led the Bobcats in a morning shootaround on Monday before a victory over the Celtics, Gordon refused Dunlap's request to stop bouncing a ball as the coach spoke, sources said. Before long, Gordon began baiting Dunlap, telling him that he needed to "humble himself," sources said.

Gordan refused to give the ball to Dunlap, and eventually tossed it toward a ball rack, sources said.

Bobcats general manager Rod Higgins was in the practice session and ultimately intervened, sources said.

"Beyond disrespectful," was how one league source described the scene.

The front office didn't suspend Gordon, a decision sources said was based in part on the belief the incident would diminish his trade value so close to the league's deadline next Thursday. The Brooklyn Nets are still mulling an offer to trade forward Kris Humphries for Gordon, but have thus far been unmoved over the possibility Gordon can make an impact for them, sources said.

For now, the Nets are searching elsewhere, believing they can always go back and accept the Gordon deal at the deadline. Gordon's performance has steadily fallen this season, including an unproductive 14 minutes against the Celtics that included missing five of six shots.

Gordon makes $12.4 million this season and $13.2 million in 2013-14. The Detroit Pistons traded Gordon to the Bobcats in June.

Come on Cho, trade his ass!

was just coming here to post this. wow. it was only a matter of time before one of the vets voiced displeasure with dunlap. it was always going to happen, just a matter of who and when.

either he gets traded or he gets benched after the trade deadline. either way is fine with me. he has been awful recently.

as colin from WFNZ pointed out on twitter, this isnt the first time gordon has been part of a mutiny. he was on the pistons team that trade to get their coach fired a few years ago. i would quote, but cant access twitter on PC.

Whether he likes Dunlap or not, that was an unprofessional move by Gordon. Not cool.

Ben Gordon was not a part of the boycott against the coach in Detroit. That was Rip Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince, Tracy McGrady, Chris Wilcox, and Ben Wallace.

Gordon keeping it real. I have no problem with this.

It sounds very similar to when Okafor was jawing with Vincent in practice. If you have a coach who has no clue what he's doing but acts like he does, well, it's generally not going to end well.

good point.

the one thing we heard about gordon when we traded for him was how he was a great character guy and a very hard worker. so it is very surprising to read this. and its not like dunlap was not giving gordon minutes. ben was probably getting more minutes than his play warranted. outside of a stretch of hot 3pt shooting in late november and december he has been pretty bad.

the dunlap hire was always going to be an experiment. he had no prior relationships with any of the players, they probably had no idea who he was and therefor he didnt have any credibility and on top of that he is demanding. add in the fact that he has been instructed to develop the young players, while losing, makes it logical that he would lose some of the vets on the team.

of course nothing excuses gordon's behavior. that cant happen, especially not in front of the team. if gordon has a beef he needs to talk to dunlap privately.

i think gordon is just trying to get himself traded.

I think we all saw this comming and it's probably gonna get worse. With the team as it is right now, another tanking season is going to cause an even bigger sh*tstorm I think. I don't think these guys are keen on going for another 10-72 record, lead by a rookie coach next year.

Immature of Gordon. Lets teach him a lesson and trade him to the worst team in the league.

Oh wait..

Folks....we are not TANKING. The strategy is not to purposely TANK. AS fans trying to rationalize a way to keep supporting such a crappy team, and to hold onto HOPE for the future, we love to talk about "The Tank".

These players have NO interest in tanking. They want to win, and get ticked when the team keeps flopping. Eventually it will cause issues that nobody in this organization wants.

Gordon is fed up with Dunlap; bad thing to do, but he's probably expressing a view many of these vets have. They've been with professional teams and coaches, and understand the difference. While MJ made the final call, I'm sure he depended on his "brain trust" to bring the final recommendation. Higgins is a complete buffoon, and his signature is all over this hire. But, I believe they saw Dunlap as a transitional coach anyway...someone to teach for a season or two while offering a bridge between Silas and the next high $ coach.

There was displeasure with Dunlap long training sessions in pre-season. Several players, veterans IIRC. I think it is fair to assume Gordon was among them.

SMH When these vets start playing better than the young players, then they should talk about dunlap

Gordon, Haywood, T. Thomas, Diop, Henderson, R. Williams = could that lineup win 10 games, hell no..they are the 9th and 10th guys on playoff caliber teams. a couple of them wouldnt even be on their rosters

get em all the hell outta here if you ask me. Sessions is the only one i like out of the entire veteran core.

Haywood is ok for his contract, Henderson should be traded because of he is gonna get paid, Diop expires anyway, Reggie I have no problem with, he is just depth and seems like a low maintenance guy (they went with Henderson to summer league to be ith Dunlap and team from the start, so I guess no attitude problems on his side), Tyrus I agree with you. But after all we don't know if anyone of those is discontent, bitching, we know Gordon does. Some may be lazy but who knows which labels fit players and which just stick.

Dunlop is cheap and has no cred at all. If you want to hire a cheap coach at least get a guy with real cred. You think Gordon would have mouthed off to David Blatt? Doubtful, he'd probably just ask for a trade privately.

With the deadline coming up... you are a vet on a bad team... with a dumbass coach. something is going to happen.
