mcroberts has salary of 3mil for this season only. we didnt take on any extra salary, in fact we cut payroll a little since warrick was making 4mil.
and since warrick was awful, it cant hurt to try a new guy at 3rd string pf.

He's a big man who shoots threes.
Do we really need that?

McRoberts didn't play his first three seasons, so his fourth season was really his first season, but he didn't get his feet wet after that because he went to LA, where he couldn't possible play over Gasol and Bynum. He's sucked for Orlando, but he's only 25 and this is really only his second season.
Or something like that.

He's athletic as hell, fundamentally sound and has a Carolina connection.
He does a lot more than "just" shoot threes.

what is orlando's motivation for trading mcroberts for warrick? they took on more money for a player that is arguably worse or at least not any better at the same exact position.

That's how bad Josh McRoberts is.

Maybe they honestly believe he is better?
Obviously not the case, I hope they enjoy their 219 pound "power" forward.
Thanks Hakim.

On a more serious note, McRoberts was a legitimate contributor on the Pacers '10-11 playoff team. I'm not saying he's going to be that again, but an extremely efficient scorer, decent rebounder and a great passer for a big would help us a lot.

My point exactly!
McRoberts is 6'10, 240+ and won the McDonalds dunk contest.
Just because he is white and not a great rebounder it doesn't make him soft, he is much tougher than anyone called Tyrus or Hakim on our team.

Cut salary and give a younger a guy a chance to be our 3rd PF. I like this move.

I realize I am the only person happy about this but he has had some good games when he got good minutes this season:
12 points, 6 rebounds, 3 AST in 40 Min vs the Heat
12 points, 6 rebounds, 8 Ast @ POR in 39 Min
9 points, 7 rebounds, 3 AST vs DEN in 27 Min
5 points, 6 rebounds, 6 AST, in 33 Min @ PHI (The only time he got 30 minutes in the last month and a half)
