Are you disappointed so far this season?
This thread is pretty simple, are you disappointed so far this season?
Please explain your answer, you are only allowed one vote and you cannot change your vote.
I am not disappointed at all so far this season.
The reason is that Kemba has had a remarkable sophomore leap and is probably our best PG ever already and Biz has shown great signs of being a legitimate starter in this league imo, I couldn't care less if he never averaged 14 points as long as he stopped biting on pump fakes.
MKG has not disappointed me at all and we have to remember that the reason we do get frustrated is that he is so damn talented already, anything that is wrong with him i truly believe is Dunlap's fault...the jumpshot...Dunlap
Sessions has been amazing so far and almost makes up for how truly terrible Ben Gordon is, Tyrus hasn't been suiting up and that's even better.
Mullens is twice as better than last season and also twice as frustrating.
Shame we didn't do anything at the deadline but I think McBob might even be sticking around next year.
I'll remember this post after we've lost our twelfth game in a row.

Overall, no. Like probably everyone, I'm disappointed in how bad Dunlap is. I'm disappointed that Driftwood is as bad as I remembered him being. But everyone else on the roster is remarkably better and we're not as bad as we were last year.

Re: Are you disappointed so far this season?
Im happy, definitely not disappointed. Two years ago Biyombo couldn't even catch a ball, literally. Mullens was nothing but a 7 foot SG masquerading as a PF/C who would whine and bitch if someone touched him and Walkers jump shot was almost as bad as MKGs (well, maybe not).
Biyombo has made great improvements, Mullens is rebounding, Walker has the potential to be a 3-5 time all-star, and MKG has everything.... but a jump shot.
A good off season of working their ass off with a good FA signing and a top 3 pick and I honestly think this team can win 28-33 games next season.

Re: Are you disappointed so far this season?
Nope.
Kemba, Biz, and Mullens have all improved. Though I'm a little upset MKG seems to have regressed a bit (rookie wall and lack of playing time), I didn't even view him as a top 5 prospect prior to the draft. He shattered all my expectations for him by Summer League, so I'm not concerned at all. Plus we're all but guaranteed a top 5 pick, weak draft or not.
I am a bit disappointed by the trade deadline (specifically, still having BG), but it doesn't appear to be anything we did wrong. I mean, the biggest name traded was freakin' J.J. Redick.

Ill give Dunlap some slack since hes a rookie head coach. At least hes better than Vincent, which isn't saying much.

I hope the new CBA doesn't put a hamper on the NBA trade deadline like the NFL.

Re: Are you disappointed so far this season?
It's never satisfying to finish dead last. I even hate being a second place finisher and I'm extremely competitive. I am disappointed in the team's performance since we are the worst team in the NBA for the second consecutive year. I feel like Kemba Walker is the only player capable of being a key performer on a team that's more than just a team that squeaks into the playoffs. He's the one bright spot.
That said, I am excited about the rebuild. I always understood there were two routes to getting better with the first one leading to more instant success albeit with a more capped limit. That path would require trades for players like Rudy Gay, Carlos Boozer, Danny Granger and others of that ilk and free agent signings of players like Al Jefferson or Josh Smith. It looks like, unlike Toronto, we are not ready to spend big on established talent and push our immediate potential.
But the other path and the one we seem to be taking is exciting to me in its own way. Building through the draft is a drawn out process that leads to maybe a superstar in the 2014 draft like Wiggins. And maybe out of MKG, Mullens and Biz at least one or two of them improve enough for me to consider him a compliment to Kemba as a key performer on a semi-elite team. I'm excited about the Portland pick now. I don't think we'll trade it. And I wonder who the Detroit pick will be next year.
And I feel like next year is the last year we will suck which means we will be ready to strike and cash in on a big established star. I'm excited to see what Cho does with Gordon and Sessions expiring contracts. And I'm excited about the next coach who will hopefully be a mainstay.

So I'm the first person to vote "yes". I do so because I was hopeful that biz would show some more concrete, statistical improvements. Many other expectations were met or even exceeded, like Hendo shooting threes and Kemba looking like he does.

Re: Are you disappointed so far this season?
I vote no, but I'm really close to voting yes because we started off the season so well. Young legs, false confidence, better morale, I don't care what the reason was. We were, what, 7-4? 7-5? So from there, it's been all disappointing. It's always hard to say you're not dissapointed at an NBA team in dead last.
However, this is somewhere around where I expected to be record-wise before the season started. So technically, I shouldn't be dissapointed. I didn't expect Kemba to improve quite this much, though I hoped he would. I did expect MKG to be as good as he was (in the beginning of the season....ik, rookie wall), and am glad he is looking like a future all star.
So, dissapointed in the season? not really. Dissapointed in general for having the season we did last year and being in this situation. I understand rebuilding though, and coming off being the WORST team in NBA history, we' have our best shot at being above-average good in the near future than we've ever had.

I'm kind of nitpicking here, and this is kind of OT but you made me think of it. I honestly don't think we end up with the worst record, I think Orlando takes it. As bad as we've been, there are 7 other teams in the under 20-win club. For all the praise the Wizards and Cavs (well uh, Kyrie) have gotten lately, you'd think they were way ahead of us in the rebuilding stages, nope. Cavs 17-37, Wizards 15-37. I mean Cleveland has a bona-fide star in the making and they're only four games better than us. This isn't meant to sound like a "consolation prize," but I think we end up with the 2nd most ping pong balls, possibly 3rd behind Washington. And frankly, I don't really care that much with this draft.

Re: Are you disappointed so far this season?
Some things have impressed me, but more things have disappointed me.
Our individual players have impressed: Kemba as a whole, Henderson's range, Mullens, Sessions, Adrien, MKG's first 2 months have all been pluses, but most of everything else has been an epic disappointment. Haywood, Gordon, Thomas, Warrick, MKG's midseason meltdown, our 1st and 4th quarters, our two insane meltdowns vs. the Lakers, Dunlap's mindf*cking rotations, our complete lack of any change geared toward our future have all been major disappointments.

Re: Are you disappointed so far this season?
personally, it would have been very difficult for the bobcats to underperform the low expectations i had for them. both in terms of the record and in terms of the stability/usefulness of the front office (to a lesser extent). so i am not disappointed. but i'm not on the edge of my seat with visions of around-the-corner significant playoff-type success either. i do think they are drafting a lot more appropriately recently, at least. i guess we'll find out in june.

Re: Are you disappointed so far this season?
I'm a little disappointed in this season so far but I didn't have high very hopes for this team going into the season anyway. I figured about 20-25 wins and that's still achievable. MKG played up to my expectations during the early going before hitting the rookie wall. I'm happy that Kemba was finally given a chance to show what he could become so I'm grateful for that. Mullens is still as frustrating as I remember him last year but at least this year he's learning the importance of rebounding. I thought Dunlap was a better coach and as strategic as advertised but now I see him for what he was, a cheap hire that talk a good enough game to mask his weaknesses to some degree. As far as the GM/front office they have been slightly above average with minor tweaks of acquisitions but I was hoping for a trade before the deadline to get me excited about our future prospects whether it was for Rudy Gay, Derrick Williams, Jeremy Lamb, or DeJuan Blair. If I could put this season into a grade based on expectations I would give it a C-. That's a passing grade but nothing worth smiling for.
They will wage war against the Lamb but the Lamb will triumph them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings - and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers." Revelation 17:14 (NIV)

Would you do me the honor of elaborating? I know many of you are underwhelmed by our lack of activity at the trade deadline but I felt like there was a high degree of FAs and players available for trade that would have shortchanged our rebuild considerably. Your Rudy Gay (overpaid), Millsap (too old/short), Al Jefferson (too old/suck at defense), Josh Smith (overpaid) etc players all seemed like shortsighted moves to make. I'm glad we didn't do something drastic like trade for a "name" player and label him a franchise piece. The FO presumably beat the bushes for minor deals that would help us (shop Hendo for a pick, Gordon for Hump swap) but if nobody wants to change partners you're stuck dancing with the one you came with.

Re: Are you disappointed so far this season?
Let's put this into perspective. I think most of us assumed going into the season that this was a 20-25 win team at best, which would be a marked improvement. However, knowing the train crash is going to happen and actually watching the burning pileup of cars are two completely different experiences. Yes, it has been brutally tough to watch this team at times, but nothing close to the god awful string of double digit laydown losses we suffered through last year. At 13-41, we're on pace for that 20-25 win season (about 22). That's progress.
I won't restate the Mully, Kemba, Hendo improvement, but it's there and it's glaring. Sessions was a stellar pickup and continues to be vastly underrated by fans. BG isn't here to take us to the promised land - he's here for that pick. We have some serious salary that will be expiring over the next year or two. All good.
All in all, I'm pretty happy. As Brother Dave mentions, we've made no boneheaded personnel moves that would strap us. Josh Smith @ max? No thank you sir. Sure, everyone wants a little excitement around the trade deadline, but not at the expense of our future. Were there some moves I thought we could make (Hickson, Hansborough)? Yep. Did other teams pull minor coups? Sure (Trob). But I have no idea what the asking price was and bringing on rentals in exchange for assets isn't smart building.
I'm even fine with Dunlap - sure his rotations are flaky, but balancing minutes for young guys who wouldn't see a lot of floor time on playoff bound teams (but need minutes here), and having vets on the floor to help you win the games you can win isn't pretty.
BTW - I accidentally voted yes. So, that's 10 votes to 3 thus far. What a bunch of homers we are

On the bright side, Hendo was not a Cho pick. He just gets piled up with Morrison, Felton, May, Augustin, Ajinca etc.

I'm kind of hoping he doesn't find a market and we can retain him for a reasonable amount of $$$. I think he would be an ideal 6th man behind Bazz/McLemore/Smart.
