Ideas for the Bobcats moving forward 1/2

Ok, So I've been a Cats fan since around '09-'10 when we had Wallace, Richardson, Felton, Chandler, Jax, etc. and no matter how bad we got, I am still a loyal fan every night, and I will continue to be. I've noticed a lot of things while watching our games and other games and these are some things that Cho and MJ has to do in order to get better. Tell me what you guys think.

-Great teams have depth (Clippers, Spurs, Nuggets, Thunder, even the Rockets), we have like none and Gana Diop. I mean yes they do have stars, but they still have a good, deep bench to help when the stars aren't having a good night. Maybe we should worry about serious depth when were close to contention but just a thought

-We need to build a fun culture around this team SOMEHOW. There's not much motivation in Charlotte right now. It's not a prime location city although it easily could be, fans seem to have little connection to the Cats even when we were in the playoffs, so I personally believe a name change COULD CONTRIBUTE to building a more positive culture. A team like the Blazers, for example, are not always good and sometimes terrible, but they always have a crazy, loyal, sold out crowd that goes nuts for them every game (Old Charlotte Hornets?) and provides a sense of motivation for the team and I think that plays into everything as well.

-Were shedding bad contracts, but now we almost have like no contracts except our rookies and a couple vets. We need to start signing and grabbing good deals.

-I'm not too sure what to think of Dunlap especially since it's his first year of NBA-level head coaching AND he was given OUR roster to work with. I would be so happy to see Doug Collins leave Philly and MJ convince him to help out here in Charlotte and show Dunlap some pointers or replace him or whatever. Collins is a great coach.

-As bad is it sounds, we need to do everything we can do distract everybody from the fact that we arent that good right now and focus on making Charlotte team a fun place to be even if you aren't winning, such as a sellout crowd bringing excitement, concerts maybe, big events, and things on the team, so that players can get comfortable, get comfortable with eachother and build real chemistry. All elite teams have that (Jordan's Bulls, Spurs, Lakers, Celtics, Thunder, Clippers, Heat). All those teams have great friendship/chemistry between its players.

-We need to try to make a habit of drafting over-sized because we already have a reputation of drafting shorter-than normal position size and it hasn't worked out well except for Kemba. Every good to great player is usually tall for their position. For example, I was pretty happy about drafting Biz at first until I found out how tall he was. I thought he was like 6'10-11 and to let Faried go in front of him is bad, but Biz showed extreme potential. Faried's size and athleticism should have trumped the shorter Bismack's possible potential especially if Serge Ibaka is who you're hoping to be. (BTW bad move by OKC to chose Ibaka over Harden. That's what the kids call epic fail.

All those things are nice but I think the biggest thing that would draw people of Charlotte in is to get some real talent on this team. Outside of those of us on Realgm and even on here its a lot of debates, I think the average fan feels like there is no talent on this team. I consider myself a hardcore basketball fan, the people I talk to at the games are pretty knowledgable, the guys in the "hood" all love and watch basketball, you listen to the guys on WFNZ and the perception is pretty much the same everywhere and thats there is no real NBA star level talent on this team. Our best players probably arent even starters on most teams. I mean really think about it, our highly drafted rookie were arguing about everyday, Kemba's probably our best player and there were those last year that thought he was trash and then there are those this year that act like he's an all-star talent, neither of which are probably accurate. It would be nice to get a rookie that could come in and you could see right away that he's gonna be a big time player, we've never had that, and the average fan isnt willing to spend their money waiting on players that dont really show alot of potential to be anything special on a team that just keeps racking up loses. More talent and more wins would take care of alot of what you are talking bout here IMO.
