If he falls to us, I'd take him. He sits for half the year, works on his frame, and we suck for the Wig.

I don't think I want Noel - even if he happens to fall to #4.

He was first on my board obviously but I think we are all a little relieved inside that he will be someone elses problem to worry about. so many red flags.

Re: The Nerlens Noel Thread
IF (big if) Noel falls to us at #4 I think it's a no brainer but the chances of that happening is less than our odds were to get the #1 pick.

Re: The Nerlens Noel Thread
Noel would be a smart #1 pick for Cleveland. They have a solid young back court in Irving & Waiters. Varejo is always hurt and in a contract year. Need patience with Noel to have a full recovery.
This is not a moment, it's a movement

I'd be careful if I was Cleveland about mentally losing the reins of such a marketable player in Kyrie Irving amid all of that losing. You can tell that he's already frustrated by it in only his 2nd year. He might be one foot out the door after another season of tanking. Players with his level of respect is expected to win and I don't think he wants to be in the losing business.

Re: The Nerlens Noel Thread
1. Who is the most overrated prospect?
Fran Fraschilla: Kentucky's Nerlens Noel. It is not his fault that right now he is the consensus No.1 pick. Given his injury and his lithe frame (6-foot-10, 228 pounds), it will be hard for Noel to succeed early. Ultimately, because of his age and athleticism, he will eventually impact the game defensively, but the burden of being the top pick will weigh on him for a while.
Amin Elhassan: Noel. The mantle of being No. 1 brings the burden of expectation of being a franchise-altering pick, and I don't know that Noel is that. He's a superb shot-blocker, but not strong enough to bang with NBA bigs (even when healthy). Additionally, he's not an elite rebounder and his offensive game is very raw. He's a good prospect, but not a great one.
If I'm Cleveland I take Porter #1 overall and gun for the playoffs.

I don't think the chances of Noel falling back to us at #4 is as slim as some may think.

If Noel falls then something is seriously wrong with his knee. No thanks.

Not necessarily. Nerlens Noel's knee could be perfectly fine and I could still see him possibly falling down to 4th overall. Out of the three teams picking ahead of Charlotte, only Orlando is likely willing to have the patience to allow Noel to rehab like he should, without it hindering the schedule of their rebuild. Both the Cavaliers & Wizards are desperate to make strides towards playoff contention as soon as possible, in fear of losing the mental state of their respective franchise cornerstones in Kyrie Irving & John Wall, so they are likely to select players that'll fill a need as well as help them now. I think the Cavs want to take Otto Porter with Ben McLemore being their wildcard, and the Wizards would willingly take on Porter if he falls back to them with Anthony Bennett as a consolation prize if he isn't available. The Magic know they want to take Trey Burke as Jameer Nelson's successor and it's obvious, especially considering that they already have more than enough depth in their frontcourt to rest their laurels of a 2nd overall pick waiting for Noel's return. All of the teams picking ahead of Charlotte have a legitimate reason to pass on Noel. That's why I also believe that Charlotte could have the good fortune to steal the top prospect in this draft at 4th overall come June 27th. Even if Noel doesn't fall to them, they'll have decent options in Bennett, McLemore, or Victor Oladipo, all of whom I believe have all-star potential despite their question marks.

Re: The Nerlens Noel Thread
I know everybody misses talking about Nerlens, but there is no way he falls to us, unless he does something wrong or his knee is bad.
Cleveland, Washington, and Orlando all could use a starting center. Even if Cleveland or Washington got Porter, they would be lucky to get the 8th seed. I think they both would take the loss in short-term for the reward later with Noel. Especially with him being the consensus number 1 by most people.

Re: The Nerlens Noel Thread
The 8th seed is a good start for any up & coming team. The upstart Kevin Durant led OKC Thunder were a 8th seed in their very 1st playoff appearance back in 2010 before a 55-27 record, winning their division, and a 4th seed in the Western Conference, with home court advantage in 2011. The Derrick Rose led Chicago Bulls were a 8th seed in 2010 as well before turning a 62-20 record in 2011, with the 1st seed in the Eastern Conference. Progress is a gradual process. Even though Noel is currently considered the top prospect of this draft class, he isn't a consensus number one. You stated that Cleveland, Washington, and Orlando could use a starting center right now, and I would counter that with the fact that all three of them already have a starting center in Anderson Varejao, Nene', and Nikola Vucevic. That's without mentioning the depth they have at the position behind the starters in Tyler Zeller, Emeka Okafor/Kevin Seraphin, and Kyle O'Quinn. None of those three teams are desperate for a center, but they all are in dire need of another position, both the Cavaliers & Wizards at small forward, and the Magic at point guard. Even though the Magic currently have Jameer Nelson, this is likely his last season with them since he has a team option that they'll likely decline after this season, and that goes without saying that they lack anything of quality depth behind him. Like I aforementioned, Orlando stands the biggest threat to draft Noel, but it's a 60/40 proposition if you ask me that favors them drafting Trey Burke at 2nd overall. Cleveland & Washington both could very well draft Noel, but it's a risk that would stunt their progression and possibly team morale in the process. That's why I wouldn't rule out Noel falling back to 4th overall in a unlikely scenario that actually makes sense.
