I know it is being discussed in the Coach Clifford thread, but like the Ewing hire I thought it deserved its own thread.

Thrilled. Love the star power on the bench.

Gordon thought Dunlap wasn't credible, well theres no excuse now.

Also McLemore or Oladipo can benefit big time from the shooting coach as well as MKG. Maybe even Mullens as well.

I'm really interested to see what Price says about MKG's jump shot. Weather he thinks he can work with what he's got or if Price will try to completely reinvent it sans hitch.

You just know that Mully is studying tape of twighlight career Ewing and thinking "Ya, ya, ya. I can do that. I can shoot that fade away".

I'm happy that MKG took the initiative to ask the Bobcats to hire a shooting coach.

Price was always a starter in my computer technician look alike teams.

Fantastic shooter.

I could see Biz learning from him as well. Biz is such an eager student, it can only be good having these old stars around.

I love the hire...but I can't see anyway he doesn't completely rebuild MKGs shot.

I hope Biz gets an Ibaka-like jumper. That would work wonders for us.

ha ha

you just scared me a bit though. I can totally see this happening. Just acknowledge that Mully's only post move is the one where he sizes up the defender about 14 feet from the basket and then goes for the sudden jumper after turning with his right shoulder. Now he'll add the Ewing "I'll bail out the defense with a fade-away" jumper.

This is very exciting news! Now for MKG to hopefully have a Kawhi Leonard like breakout this season.

I'm probably overly optimistic, but I liked the look of Biz' shot last year and think Price can help him turn the corner. I fully expect Biz to develop a consistent 15 footer soon.

I don't think you are being overly optimistic MPM. Biz has pretty nice form on his J. No reason he cant add a 15 footer.

Would rather see him work on his post hook, catching and exposition on his 1st and 2nd efforts.

Either way, having Price will hopefully bring our guys a lot of confidence - and shooting is 10% technique and 90% confidence.

Jeff Hornacek was the Jazz's shooting coach before and he did a good job on Andrei Kirilenko and Ronnie Brewer.

Brewer's shot was broken because of a childhood injury yet his shot percentages improved over the years to the point that it was respectable for a couple of years. Kirilenko was a horrible shooter and he's also shooting decently after working with Hornacek.

Dunno if a hitch can be fixed but working with one of the most prolific shooters of all time should give people hope about player's shot. If MKG's shooting become respectable, watch out.

i dunno why people act like MKG is gonna be some horrible shooter forever regardless of who we hire as shooting coach. if Marion, Wallace, and LeBron can become respectable spot shooters anyone can. it just takes time in the league. all those guys had/have god awful form and either fixed it or made it work over time

i remember LeBrons early years the same squawking was going on with people 100% convinced that he would NEVER be able to shoot because he faded away every shot and his form was overall bad and inconsistent.

Plus MKG was hitting that mid range J at a pretty nice clip towards the end of the season - so he has it in him.
